your move, OP

It's not that happy when you actually look into the lyrics

...

Smiley Smile, Yellow Submarine

i can't, the first time i heard it was one of my favourite musical experiences of all time

...

The song was way too happy for me. Songs like Harmony and Noisy Eater literally just sound like childrens music

...

...

smiley smile is almost manic depressive

this has a gynnopedie cover on it so it's not allowed to be the happiest album sorry

This album is brooding and incredibly introspective.

yeah i think "feeling yourself disintegrate" by itself disqualifies it

You just can't beat this

yeah that

I love that album

What is this?

not him but reverse image search says its RORO by BOAT

/thread
but just in case it needed one final blow

two final blows

Plantasia by Mort Garson and Datum by Musette.

i don't think SILY is "happy" as much as it is "hopeful". subtle but significant difference imo

good album

The music's happy as it gets; you're focusing too much on the album's "narrative"

Hot sex in the third degree

upbeat =/= happy

i think both the "narrative" and the music are more hopeful than happy (but still happy, ofc). the title track especially show this, as well as a couple other tracks.

>upbeat =/= happy
I didn't say that, but ok
>i think both the "narrative" and the music are more hopeful than happy
>i think
>i
that settles it then

that was also my first thought

Because of the simplicity of the lyrics on the album, the silly phrases they use gain a certain level of added meaning I think. The phrase "you're the king of the castle who likes to hide" in particular stands out to me. I don't mean in like a sad or emotional way, but more in just a thoughtful way.

>this is what passes for thoughtful lyrics in the mind of the poptimist

Get on my level

...

...

summer friends tho

or any of the ordinary songs albums by Snail's House

i cri evrtim

No, what I said was the thoughtlessness of most of the lyrics enhances the thoughtfulness of the more interesting ones. Do you understand?

...

Yes, it's wonderful

Name?

>mfw the recorder kicks in

...

Happy but downbeat at some times.

whos this cum drum

Why does this album beat out everything else in the thread when it's posted?

Lemon jelly - lost horizons, also kys

The bran flakes, plus tech squeeze box or deerhoof, boney m, and most disco and hi NRG are all happycore. Not to be confused with happy hardcore , but also dune and scooter.

Aluna Francis, one half of Alunageorge.
Their first album was good; I used to have it on constant rotation.

Heard their second album was kinda mediocre. Haven't listened to it.

This album is almost too happy. I wanted to like this with the amount of praise it gets on here but I just felt like I was listening to instrumentals of childrens music.

it's ok (the song you linked)

Not meme

great pick
somma them songs are pretty spookey lyrically tho

there's literally a song called "ohmygodiloveyousomuchpleasedontleaveme"

How the fuck is that happy

underrated as hell

this one is super melancholy have you ever experienced happiness?

...

FF's music is always vaguely triumphant, but that record isn't really happy...

this

wildflower isn't unhappy but it certainly has some dark overtones to it that sily lacks. the message behind sily is pretty much "man life is hard but I've found joy in the little things in life", message behind wildflower is pretty much "man life is so so hard but you just gotta keep trying I guess, idk"
also this

I mean, just look at the cover

i dont know man i really get a bittersweet feeling from this album, probably because i showed it to the 2nd girl i really loved, and she liked it.

RIP OP

...While You're Alive isn't very happy for me my man.
