And now only Chelsea remains

Who would've thought only the oil billionaires club would survive?

Liverpool is still top 4

tottenham is an oil club

heard it here first

That's the funny part, all these Chelski glory hunters pretending they're any better or less plastic than any other club
Plastic FC

New top 4:

Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Spurs

>Liverpool and Chelsea finished out of the top 4 last season
>Arsenal and United will finish out of the top 4 this season
Joke clubs desu

Liverpool won't finish top 4 and they've played CL football only once in the last 7 years.

The "top 6" has ruined any chance of English teams competing for the CL anymore. Every other top league has a clubs or a couple of clubs that have a monopoly on the rest of their respective leagues. The talent filters up to those clubs and they maintain a nucleus of national players from their respective countries. The PL used to be like this; ten years ago Chelsea and United could go and take the best players from Tottenham, for example. These days Man Utd could never buy Michael Carrick, just as they couldn't buy Bale in 2013. They'll never get Kane or Alli either. There's such money in the league now that teams can resist bids for players from those at the top of the PL. At the very least they'll be forced to play well over the odds for a player, Pebbles for example. The days of 3 PL teams in the CL semi finals year after year is long gone.

ermm... until the season is over, Arsenal is still the only team that has never finished outside of the top 4 this century.

who are going to catch them? Arsenal or Man U? they're both worse than Liverpool even with their injuries.

Man Utd will catch them. Mane is out for the rest of the season.

good

That's not really an excuse though. Manure would still be relevant if their scouting didn't suck absolute dick. And even with the great Kane, Tottenham absolutely embarrassed themselves in Europe this season. Arsenal is Arsenal and I don't really know what's City's excuse, >Poop?

You have a mentality issue. You prioritize profits over competition success. You're spoiled by the giant wads of cash you share between yourselves. Why fight for a semifinal spot in the CL when you can make even more money by finishing sixth in the PL? (not literally of course but you get the point)

Chelsea is the only club remaining that seems interested in some form of international success and maybe Liverpool, but their squad is far too weak for such a feat.

Having a core of English players can't be underestimated though - even if they are mostly shit at the moment. Virtually every team that wins the CL has a core of national players from their own country. The only team that has that in England is Tottemham. It's not a coincidence that they've been the most consistent team for the last 2 years. The point is that back in the day, the teams with financial strength to offer great wages and buy players abroad could also buy the best of the PL. Carrick, Wright-Philips, Ferdinand, Campbell (would never happen today), Lampard, A.Cole are good examples. Back in the day, Man Utd went and bought their closest rival Newcastle's best player, Andy Cole. Those kinds of transfers are what win you domestic honours and allow you to compete in Europe. It's what Juve did just this last summer with Higuain.

man utd still have to play chelsea, city, arsenal, and spurs

>epLEL

have you seen Man U's fixtures m8? they could well drop out of the Europa spots, nevermind get into top 4

I think the real reason is that they all have poor midfields. I don't understand why top managers like Mourinho or Poop can't fix it though.

that still doesnt count as a trophy

When you compare the English team midfields now to the midfields of about 8 or 9 years ago you begin to appreciate the decline of England's top teams.

>Scholes, Carrick Hargreaves, Essien, Lampard, Makelele, Ballack, Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso, Fabregas

The current CMs are a long way off.

How many players constitute a "core"?

Arsenal has Chamberlain, Ramsay, Walcott, Welbeck, Gibbs and Iwobi, and Liverpool has Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Clyne and Sturridge, but they are less consistent than Chelsea and Man City who are almost entirely composed of foreigners

Most of those English players don't get a game for the worst England side in a generation. Says a lot.

Pep is working with what he has, Silva is still their best creative midfielder, Yaya hasn't wanted to put effort and the rest including de brownie are not great
Gundogan is decent but he's way too injury prone
Also City have been terrible at finishing all the sitters they've had
Tired of hearing the aguero is world class meme

Manchester United have Pogba
What else do they need?

>arsenal doesn't get CL berth
>wenger signs a new contract

north london riots when

...
The thread is about top 4

Pep should be spending everything to fix that instead of buying Pebbles.

Except they were able to spend the money on Bale, he just wanted to go to go to Real Madrid. If Man Utd offer £100m for Kane this summer, it will be accepted. And £100m today is the same as £30m in 2008 (Berbatov). Money-wise, nothing has changed.

official biggest clubs in england:
1. chelsea
2. city
(large gap)
3. spurs
4. liverpool
5. united
6. arsenal

Fine. Arsenal are our boys, then.

City's excuse is that the club founded in 2008. For a 9 years old club, what they're doing right now is pretty impressive.

>You prioritize profits over competition success.
That's why the Manchester clubs paid £300m in transfers, is it? I don't know why people think things like this. They say the same about Arsenal viz. the board doesn't care about winning, only about money. Here's an idea: Arsenal are just shit.

Tottenham were able to reject a bigger offer from Man Utd than Real Madrid offered precisely because of how much money they have. They turned down the extra £10m from Man Utd so they could sell him abroad and avoid strengthening a rival. 10 years ago they'd take the biggest offer no question.

do you mean teams

>2008 was 9 years ago
ahhhhhhhhh

I thought they accepted it, just he wanted to go to Real Madrid. Anyway, it's not like a Spanish team is going to come in for Kane.

You can talk about clubs having more money but what's the ratio between the two? I think it's probably about the same but Man Utd have less debt than they had 5 years. And Spurs are entering/are already in a period of debt with their stadium coming along.

Miss the days when Liverpool-Chelsea matches would be one of the season's best highlights

Such a pitiful, mentally ill, little ABL, you should just accept fate. Liverpool are top 4 confirmed, maybe even top 3.

They had a great one 3 years ago

ABLs always lose.

>maybe

ABL

True. 2006 - 2010 was mint. That Liverpool team with Torres, fucking ace. I really wanted them to win the league but ah well.

Are >we, dare I say it, back?

I'm so fucking done

no one mentioned leicester lads

This is a discussion about the top 4. Not Leicester.

They should just expand the CL to let all the top 6 teams in.

nah, they should limit it only to current champions of the top 8 leagues (eng, ger, ita, spa, fra, por, ned, ?), and make it a proper league (14 games total vs current 13 games in cl)

top teams playing each other always and no more '''lucky draws''' and pointless group stages

>it will never be the 00s again

Nah. Split it into 2 super group leagues like they did in the 90s with the respective winners playing each other for the title.

If you don't have English players in this country you don't get behind the scenes FA assistance. Surely you've seen how highly we blindly rate our players

epl is the customer league we should stop watching it

>mfw halal ends up in the same group as por/ned/tur while eng/ger/ita/fra kill each other
nah, nah, all teams have to play against each other, a true league

I miss the adverts.

youtube.com/watch?v=cmN5XXO4bA0

Nah, nah, nah. Do it like this:

4 groups of 3. Top 2 qualify.
2 groups of 4. Top 2 qualify.
Semis
Final

13 games but you only have the absolute elite competing.

A lot of people want to go back to only champions competing but doesn't that make for a pretty poor competition? No-one has won the CL twice in a row but in the old competition, that was relatively easy. Isn't that because the quality of the competition is better now? And that's because more teams from the top nations are in it?

Also because people won't watch Real Madrid play B36 Torshavn

And because it will make only one team in a league get Champions League Money, pretty much eliminating competitive domestic football.

>Having a core of English players can't be underestimated though

...exactly why is this?

Because no PL team has ever won the CL without one.

The big 4 you gimps

City Chelsea Liverpool Spurs

Looks like a new top 4 is being established. Arsenal look doomed. Maybe United can save themselves with £300m in transfers but they need so many new players and a new manager tbqh

in 2 years time
1.Spurs
2.United
3.Chelsea
4.City
5.Liverpool
6.Arsenal
Chelsea may be lower due to the fact that they have an aging defense and Hazard will leave in the summer, but spurs/united have the youth over the rest of the top 6 excluding maybe city if jesus doesnt flip flop back to brazil

>Hazard will leave in the summer
excellent meme

An actual midfielder.

>glory hunters
i know that the fact arsenlel and totenshit cant win any shit makes chelsea's titles look like absolute bonanza but 5 titles (only the shit that actually matters) in 13 years isn't that much

must be really pathetic to be this jelly of that lol

that would be a valid excuse if they were trowing money on youths, instead they are buying overpriced chokers

Absolute nonsense
