Net neutrality

“instead of corporations who need your money and good public image to survive, corrupt, lying bureaucrats who will kill their own mother for your vote, should have a monopoly on how fast and what you see on the internet.”

you know what would help? using google you moron

>be old fat baby boomer asshole
>losing grip of influence on future generations
>fucking lazy entitled ingrate millenials killing muh businesses by adapting to technology and making money off of it
>Youtube makes more money than cable television
>I can't make money off youtube since I down own it
>cry until I figure out a plan
>get dirty-ass pajeet with punchable face to represent my plan and to distract mobs from targeting me
>mfw net neutrality lets me punish anyone with innovation, any entrepreneur trying to make an online presence with their business.

>mfw I found a way to make money off of others by being a toll-collecting asshole on something that was once free

My suggestion for starters would be
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality

Net Neutrality - Everyone gets access to the same things on the internet for free
No net Neutrality - everyone has to pay for certain things depending on ISP.

Can someone explain the need to post 20 threads like this every fucking 15 minutes?

0/10 troll

FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER

people are retarded
like this guy for example

THIS IS WHAT NET NEUTRALITY REALLY IS:

Net neutrality means all data has to be treated the same, specific websites, users, and locales cannot be discriminated against by isps.

A repeal would mean that isps are able to charge extra for certain sites or even (god forbid) posting certain things.

If you like being able to go on any site you please and do anything within that sites rules, or just freedom in general, support net neutrality. If you stand to profit from the repeal, like isps or paid shills, than supporting the repeal is the logical choice.

Thanks

Admittedly that was a little biased, I am on the freedom side. Another perspective that would support a repeal of nn would be people that only use facebook google and netflix. All other sites being blocked would mean slightly faster speeds for these big mainstream sites.
I have provided both points of view as free from bias as possible, you should make up your own mind about these things.

That said, if you are posting on Sup Forums, you stand to lose if the law is repealed and I strongly suggest supporting net neutrality.

I'm pro net-neutrality, but there's something most of you haven't realized; corporations are fully within their rights to do what they want with their service. Doing away with net neutrality would definitely set an anti-consumer precedent, but horrible business practices aren't illegal.

Pros of NN: the government sets how much isps can charge.

Cons of NN: see above but realize that this sets the precedent for them doing what ever they want with the internet and can easily change those rates with a rider or something else with no warning or public knowledge before its too late.

Pros of no NN: the government leave alone one of the few things left that it doesn't have its teeth sunk in. while this may lead to higher rates and loss of service for a time eventually demand will either force the isp to cave to demand or face competition.

Cons of no NN: you have to take an active interest in your surrounding environment to ensure you don't get fucked over and worse case get entangled in legal battles over monopolization when you start your own isp cause you're tired of getting fucked over.

TL:DR
NN: do you trust your government not to fuck up something they have, without fail, fucked up in the past?

no NN: do you want to spend the time and energy to take control of your own life?

They don't need your vote when they can buy the people they need to do their bidding.

You mean social welfare right?

Net Neutrality prevents Comcast, for example, from demanding money from Netflix to stream their content to Comcast customers at a playable rate. Comcast did exactly that in late 2013. When Netflix paid up, their streaming rate on Comcast improved drastically.

The fact that Netflix is a direct competitor to Comcast's own digital cable TV service makes this an anticompetitive practice but the Federal Trade Commission was either too unfamiliar with the tech involved, unwilling to intervene, or had been paid off and didn't get involved.

Net Neutrality gave the FCC jurisdiction over ISPs and implemented regulations to prevent this sort of behavior. When those regulations are dropped in December, big broadband providers will be free to do what they want.

Freedom to do what you want with your business in a capitalistic market is a good thing, but it only works when monopolies are prevented by law. Right now, most of the country has only one option in their area for broadband. Comcast and Time Warner deliberately don't compete against each other in the same area. This is collusion and its also illegal, but the FTC has never done anything about that.

With Net Neturality
No competition, monopoly of ideas. Monotheistic

Without NN
Competition, the internet’s vast network of voluntary interactions is allowed to spur forward un-abaited like the previous 30 years which has been the catalyst for so much innovation

Reminder: Government programs are what developed TCP/IP - the foundation of the internet.

>leftists

To a degree this is true but these companies are given government money and virtual monopolies over the area's they serve, that makes them at least someone accountable to the people.

If they didn't want that they can stop taking the money and lose any special status they were granted.

and now they have a camera and microphone on nearly every human. they're so benevolent.

/thread

Everyone gtfo, there is literally NO response to this.

And that was all made possible by treating ISPs like utility providers... Oh wait, no... that was completely unrelated laws. Not an apples to apples comparison. inb4 but all regulation is bad, because railroad barons weren't a thing or anything.

The only reason people are making as big of a stink about this as they are is so torrent sites don't get taken down. They'll likely be among the first targets.

they aren't really setting prices, they're telling IPS's to treat all traffic equally and not charge, toll or throttle what is moving across their networks.

If given the choice between trusted the gov or some corporation I'll choose the government, at least theoretically they're supposed to be accountable to the people. (yea I know haha government being accountable)

>Over a century ago
>still bringing it up

It’s like glorious has acheived absolutely nothing of mention in the last 100+ years other than wars that spanned decades and destroyed entire major cities, that you have to bring up the 19th century still

not sure i get it. both options are bad. a leftist wouldn't press either. there wouldn't be a need for the leftist to sweat. it would be some hillbilly raised by poor parents who didn't care about education who ran up and pressed both.

Well, not taken down, but made inaccessible. Following that, most likely VPN and Proxy services, at least the popular ones, will be rendered mostly inaccessible in the US.

Utter bullshit.

ISP's have been given monopolies in the vast majority of the US; the competition argument is a smoke-screen.

Citizens paid for the Internet, directly in development and infrastructure, and indirectly in government subsidies to major tel-com corporations.

Anyone who says otherwise is a shill for these corporations...

>>Over a century ago
>>still bringing it up
Yeah, learning from history is for fags. Figures you'd be a phoneposter.

he's already got control, we just hope he isn't going to fuck it up any worse.

But then Pai came along.

>Leftists
>never quoted as saying Trump is ‘literally hitler’

How much are they paying you shills, because your reaching is impressive, you need a raise.

Yeah so I don't give any more money to entertainment giants asshole, it's already hard enough making money to feed my kid let alone going to see veggietales 12 or some shit. Go ahead and take more ways to be happy away from less fortunate people and see what happens

the net neutrality challenges are like if pepsico wanted control of the water supply. of course there is a profit for them in controlling it, but it is better if left in public ownership.

there is no valid argument on the other side

Could you explain to me what you think the picture means instead of bouncing around like a faggot when confronted with a perceived inconsistency?

>learn from history
>hurrr the people who did WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm 1 + 2 & Afghanistan ad infinite should decide what we see on the internet durrrr

Tell me if you agree or disagree with this, OP:

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication.

Holy fuck you’re good. I mean its like you weren’t alive during the election or something.

>the people who did
>did

wat

>the guberment is trying to limit what u see by making sure the corporations can't limit what you see
You must be some kind of genius.

>name a private corporation that started a world war

i’ll wait..

Why are you refusing to explain your understanding of what the picture means? What are you hiding?

...

War on poverty

oooooo sounds threatening. What are you going to do poorfag lol

Rothschilds Bank, Haliburton

>justifying monopolising ideas and access to them by appealing to emotion

Sociopath detected, or just plain fascist

Reminds me of when Nestle's CEO said water is not a human right...

Yea, no fark you nestle it belongs to the people your shit corporation has no rights to it.

>shareblue

snowflake

>the joos did it

kecks

The new-left’s social welfare program?

>monopolising ideas
1. Spellcheck exists
2. How does ensuring equal access to ideas qualify as monopolizing them?

Kek. Leftists have gone full Sup Forums

Krupps and Mitsubishi definitely had a hand in influencing politicians who made those decisions.

Maybe fucking idiots like you shouldn't have slept through history class, faggot.

do you want comcast to tell you what sites you're allowed to visit? If the answer is no, then congrats; you are in favor of net neutrality.

>stop taking arguments out of my r/the_donald Sup Forums handbook!
You only have yourself to blame for this loss.

>who ensures ‘equal access’ one entity or multiple

Best solution in that circumstance, more government and politicians to corrupt, of course!

all of that is wrong, thats not how the internet works and thats not how the repeal works

and there is no "bias" here, there is objectively a right side and a wrong side, repealing NN will fuck everyone, not just your average joe internet user

you probably think this is well thought out and intelligent don't you?

>i want my free shit
>gimmedat waaaaaaa

I didn't vote for an administration hellbent on taking the Internet away from me user
either you or your mom did

I'm okay with these threads being posted so often. These threads popping up just spreads awareness to how important this is

>conflating the terms "monopoly" and "regulation" to suit your needs even though the regulation prevents monopoly
Talk about Orwell...

This shit should be in everyone's face here, in the trap threads, the celeb threads everywhere

Go ahead and piss off the working class, rich people's blood will run in the streets

Nigger

Niggerr

Nope. Your low income hillbilly detector is malfunctioning.

DNC or CTR shills. Dems are literally that butthurt that Democracy functioned as it should have, they will pay shills for the next four years to help the left meme

Basically
Net neutrality let you explore the internet with little to no regulations
They are trying to put everything in package bundle like they do with cable tv for certain prices
Think "FCC" their job is "CENSORSHIP" so if they get what they want you can kiss this site goodbye, as well as porn and some sites that are informational because people im this country are traitors and abuse this information putting us at risk with enemy nations "WIKILEAKS"
Example: some anti war protestors gave the location and operation of a spy unit that was protecting me you and fellow americans. They abuse the information they were given and turned their back on their own country just so they can say "i told you so"

Where did I advocate increased government?

You're a deflector and shill. STFU in trying to sound post-chimpanzee.

Sounds like a nigger getting mad that robbing stores is illegal

/thread, this nigga gets it

vive la revolution

>one entity regulates itself, and makes it illegal (by the courts it soley runs) to prevent itself having sole power

Come and get me you adorable little mongrel-blooded kikesucking nigger ;)

>Drain the Swamp!
>by appointing former execs/lobbyists
The mental gymnastics you kids must go through to keep your edgelord meme political ideology going. All just to rebel against your liberal parents. Sad!

If I were a Trumpfag I'd be in favor of taking NN away.
You're a shitty troll faggot.

/thread

Its always the solution user. What are you one of these weird Nazi Austrian economists?

Just go with it, while Democrats protect the working class with net worths over $100 Million, shhh don’t be an uncool Nazi!

It isn't mental gymnastics you fucking dolt, it's intentionally destabilizing this fucking joke of a government so the motherland can have it's rightful power back. America has become the world's laughing stock, get used to it bitch, world power days are fucking gone.

>when that entity is actually subject to the will of the voting public instead of a corporation which has no duty or oath to uphold to the people, but rather international shareholders
Wew.

Yes hillary sure would have drained the swamp much better

:^) damnit why didnt I vote for the one whose Husband was anti-gay rights and her herself pro-intervention in the middle east since the 1980’s. Damn a mistake i regret

>working class
Who do you think pays for the free shit, you fucking retard?

Here's the post you initially argued against: Arguing against it is a pro-trump stance. Learn to follow conversations better.

>democratic accountability
>Donald Trump wins an election legitimately
>leftists rheeeing democracy is broken

Kek my sides

Trump claimed he would "drain the swamp, " though, and then tried to distance himself from it when started being President.

Babbling like an idiot doesn't help your cause, shill.

Your lack of logic and any linear thought in your statements confirms you are, in fact, a cock-gargler.

you missed the point, you fucking retard lol

NN is basically government regulations on Internet service providers. In a nutshell, all data has to be treated the same. There can't be favoritism.
The pro NN arguments are that if there aren't regulations, then ISPs will discriminate for certain users and websites.
The anti NN arguments are that governments shouldn't be regulating private business and telling them what customers should have. Individuals consumers should have to decide what ISP and internet best suits them. This will allow for growth and innovation in the sector. It will provide better service and reduce congestion at peak times.

I'm also a little drunk so I don't know if I touched on everything.

>Yes hillary sure would have drained the swamp much better
>dude it's ok my guy isn't doing what he said lmao xdxd
>dude it's ok my guy is provoking a nuke standoff because he waved a gay flag once lmao xdxdxd
Keep screaming into your pillow at night.

...

Like Obama was going to close Gitmo right?

>TCP/IP
wasnt just govt. Big govt is far more dangerous than a big corporation.

You should read up about banana republics.
