80+ hours a week?

80+ hours a week?
How the fuck is that possible?

Bezos is an extraterrestrial who can control minds

You work 12 hours a day every day. Which part are you having trouble with?

Why would you work for a company that won't pay you anything, better you in any way, or treat you like a human?

Oh, cause it felt good not to pull out and you gotta feed your stupid kids so they can do the same thing when they're older. bravo

if we want our stuff cheap, somebody has to pay the price. their own fault if they slave for amazon.

What kind of life is that? Why the hell would you put yourself through that user?

>blaming the victim
Yeah, why don't those dirty Poors stop living in poverty already!

Probably because they needed the money. I used to work 80 hours a week during the Christmas season. 80 hours of overtime makes for a decent paycheck at any wage

How old were you when you did this?
How did you manage to stay awake?
Really admire that work ethic.

Explain how their circumstance is someone else's fault.

Like 20. Staying up wasn't that hard, but I would have been fired if I didn't work the hours

Why isnt this illegal?

Explain how everyone can be rich

Fired for not working 80 hours a week?
That's fucking insane man.

Worked during peak at amazon between HS and undergrad. It sucked ass, but they paid a dollar/hour more than normal and since I worked night shift, I was also paid another dollar/hour more than the day shift. Making $14/hour at 80hours/week wasn't too bad for 18yo me. I couldn't do it now though.

Utah is an at-will state, you can literally be fired for no reason, and recently I was

"fault" is subjective, but they have far less opportunity for education and jobs than someone more well off.

it's a vicious circle... no education limits their ability to value/appreciate an education, thus dooming them to menial jobs.

I’ve had 134 hours of overtime before. But I work in an office.

Yeah I used to work 70+, once worked 10am to 3am every day for like 40 days or so with no day off. People outside of the U.S. don't get it, they buy into the amerifat programming...Must be nice to have laws which mandate vacations though.

Poor economic conditions paired with a docile working class.
Don't forget this is a city that voted for Brexit, so... you know they are a bunch of wankers

It's not the menial jobs, but the incredible hours a week they have to work. 80 hours?

Holy shit ! 2 week pay period?

Yea

I once ordered same day shipping on underwear so i did not have to do wash. Worked out well.

working overtime everyweek kills you man trust me... some people need it, some like it, some hate it but do it anyways since they dont or wont try to find something better... when you break it down yeah people should get paid a liveable wage without massive debt.... its all about how you spend and how you save.....

i work in a warehouse and have no debt and im the one who speaks up for my people at meetings and quarterly meetings... so im treated differently by management but man i need to make a change

So neither one of you have an answer. Alright then.

Salty/10

12 on 12 off is literally every day on deployment get good scrub

I'm American and there are no laws like that where I live.

you should freeball. works out even wellerer

>thinking his question warrants a real answer
You haven't explained how everyone can be rich. Why do you think all poor people are to blame for their situation?

No shit. Do you even comprehension at all?
Other countries outside of the U.S. actually have laws that companies have to give employees paid time off, like a month in a lot of places.

Welcome to third world.

You're a retard. I'm the user that worked 80 hours. No vacation, no guarantee that I wouldn't be fired at any moment.

He's a right-wing shill, so yes. He thinks only lazy people are poor, and rich people are obviously only hard-workers.

>retard can't understand answers

takes a special person to do this 80 hours per week.

A lot of people have to pull shit like this to get enough money. For 6 months I was working 30 hours per week moving produce as well as doing 5 courses at university.

Shit sucks no doubt. Wish it wasn't like this.

Answer my fucking question you shit stain

Who's fault is it they work at amazon?

Or shut the fuck up with your shitposting.

To be fair, you kind of get into a mindset and just keep going. I did 15 hours a night, 7 days a week starting from 4pm for a few weeks at a time before it settled down to 13 or so over 6 days.

If anything, it's not the hours that fuck you up, it's when they change them or cancel 2 nights in a row. Your body clock goes all spastic and it's not good.
This was fruit industry so it's led by the product; if it's picked, you work.

If you think Amazon's bad, try being one of my graders and spend 12+ hours watching kiwifruit roll by at high speed just to be bollocked by me if you should miss one dodgy one.
Work now in general, for anyone lower than a supervisor, is just absolute shit.

One year, they worked so hard and did so well that I was rewarded with a lovely fishing trip. The 90 odd people that were the hands on workers got a slice of pizza as I recall. They were clocked out while they ate it.

i'm having trouble believing people in this thread.

i regularly work 80+hours/week. there are 24 hours in a day, subtract 8 for sleep, you got 16 hours left.

80 work hours per week / 7 days per week ~= 11.5 work hours per day

16 waking hours - 11.5 work hours = 4.5 hours

let's say you take 2 hours for travel.

4.5 - 2 = 2.5 hours left.

2.5 hours for eating 3 times is more than most people get.

how is this grueling? do you people not like your jobs?

You're the one who can't comprehend simple English. BOTH of my posts SAY CLEARLY THAT there are no laws in the US mandating time off, and like a true douchebag you're trying to argue the same... fuckkkkkkkking stupid.

i used to work in a dc for a competitor. this time of the year you're pretty much forced into a minimum of 65 hours and they'll beg you to work even more

fucking shit job but im sure its even worse at amazon since they get paid trash. at least i was making ~$30/hr on OT. turned me into an alcoholic and one day i just walked out because i couldnt take it anymore but, meh

wut

>Tfw my manager tried to use at will law to say I couldn't quit whenever I wanted.
After taxes/gas I was working for 3.80 an hour.

Because people need to make a living and companies like Amazon know this and take advantage of it

I did this for 3 months when I was 19.

It wasn't THAT bad. The only shit part is you don't have any time to spend that money.

Zero social life user

My first and only job that lasted from about May this year till end of August was about that a week. Used to get into work at 9:30 and get home at about 11:30. I didn't work Sundays though.

I now have 0 desire to get a job again lul.

>do you people not like your jobs?

Do you not love your family?

Make me, fag. They didn't have any other real options. Let's say they quit
>now they have no income
>any job they can get pays less than $20/hr
>offers fewer hours
>less money overall
Brilliant idea, they would have been so much better off without their jobs

9:30 in the morning till 11:30 at night.

because most people dont have a choice

its called economic slavery, you will work or you will die

The military has been doing this since pointed sticks. Big deal

I've been with Amazon for 7 years. None of the jobs are hard but the expectation is that you show up and work. McDonalds can always use burger flippers. Grow up.

How are you this retarded? Every post you responded to has been me and I live in the US.

Fuck that. The US is a corporatist shithole

Some of the doorman at the club I used to work at worked like, 36 hour days. Started Friday at my bar, worked like, 19-06, went somewhere else, came back to the bar and did another 19-06. They're eastern euros; apparently they work all the time and earn a ton of money, then go back home to their country and buy a house outright, and do fuck all for a few years.

This is the UK ofc

>implying growing up is working under shitty conditions and not demanding better

/thread

Don't be a pussy, that's how

this

unless you're management, there's no reason to work in a warehouse that long. I barely made it 1.5 years before I quit.

Also, I worked at McDick's throughout HS. The same retards that spend their lives working there are no different than the ones who spend their lives working in a warehouse, both passionate about being a fucking slave and doing a job that will be replaced by AI in the near future

see family on vacation?

this shits just about to get started down here in Auz , only our labor laws are quite strict.

i wonder how its going to pan out.

I gave them a 3 week notice then they started only telling me I worked 2 hours before a shift, and tried to schedule me 10 days straight once they realized I gave a notice. Fuck pizza hut the one I worked at was ran by a bunch of druggies

...

You worded this fucking horribly and I can see why the 80+ hour dude miss read it.

When i was 13 my uncle would take me to work over the summer. Basically 14 hours of work MON-SAT

I find they are usually complete fuckwits or they earn a decent amount by doing all the hours and then need to keep doing them to fund the car payments or whatever they bought to cheer themselves up for having a shit job.
Going to work to pay for a new car that's used primarily to take you to work is madness to me. But that's what keeps the economy ticking over I guess.
I exclude the new home owners from that as when you're in your twenties and have a house, you do the hours to pay for it in the early days. Kudos to those guys, fuck the retards that are renting and still knocking out 12 hours or more a day.

better conditions, not a higher position in the shit pile. There is literally nothing wrong with work in moderation.

once you get over 65 hours taxes tend to eat any money up
Source: I used to work for Plastic Omnium
>BTW never work for Plastic Omnium, they are fucking slave drivers with no remorse
>pay isn't worth the extreme physical demand of pushing racks for 12 hours with a total of 45 minutes of downtime in that 12 hours
>or getting bitched at about how BMW isn't getting their fenders, bumpers or rocker panels fast enough even if we make 350 of them a shift
>FUCK THAT PLACE

The most fucked up part about that is how common it is. One day when I was working 40+ hours a week at Taco Bell they called me on my day off and told me I was late and threatened to fire me. When I got in I checked the schedule and it'd been written in with pen

I'm only working 55 a week tops. Must be different in different locations.

I know. I didn't really have much choice though

>takes advantage of it
>offers to pay people for their time

It's a job, not slavery. You choose it because the alternative is not having money for shit you need, but you still choose it. You could decide to live as a homeless person on the street, but that is worse than working hard and earning some money. They are in no way taking advantage of people by offering them jobs.

plastics anywhere is a shithole if you're an operator

understood. you gotta do what you can to feed the family man.

>it's not slavery
>you get to choose your owner!

Kill yourself, neoliberal.

yep. some of the dumbest people I ever met but they were always so fucking proud when they could rat someone out for being unsafe or some bullshit.

of the group of friends I worked with, the only thing we talked about work-related was who was going to quit and who was going to get fired. I really wouldn't have minded the job if I could get the day shift instead of nights (5pm to 6am), and if management wasn't full of massive cucks. It was a boring and unhealthy job but having some middle age cuck sneak up on you in a 1.5mil sqft warehouse to tell you you've been written up for not opening a door properly makes you want to go on a shooting spree

"oh and this means you cant get a raise for 12 months" fuck you

That's good for you user. See the world that so many live in and either get used to it or do better so you don't have to.
My wife's boss is a megabucks vet with his own practice. Dude has literally millions and lives where the local premier league footballers live (soccer for the burgers) but made his kids work as binmen during their summer holidays to experience real work with real men.
It's a good mindset.

work, home, sleep, work, home, sleep, work, home, sleep etc.
What kind of life is that ?

It's not slavery because you get paid. You are literally saying "this is the monetary value I place on my time" and then you sell your time to someone. You can choose not to sell your time, but then you wont make any money.

Nah, they would've canned me

I had that happen at subway. I'm about to graduate in 4 months and pretty much guaranteed a job I'd enjoy so at least the wage cuck is near an end for me.

I was in injection molding, that fucking factory was 98 degrees on the inside in the dead of winter when it was like 15 outside. That was some kind of unkempt hell. Glad I quit though, I started having sleep deprivation problems and was running purely off of marlboro reds and coffee for like 2 months straight.

>it's not slavery because you get vouchers for food and shelter instead of being directly given food and shelter

i work 8 to 5:30 M-F. I get home with enough time to help my wife with dinner, play with the kids, and help them with their homework.

With your hours, you don't have time for a family, any time with friends, or any time to invest in someone to start a family.

>you don't have to
You are why yuppies should be put into labor camps.

>working is slavery, I should get things without having to do anything.

this user gets it

Nice. I'm trying to start up a legal pot farm. Should be talking to the bank sometime next month

yup. outside of the professional side of the business, the sweet spot is in material handling or process tech.

>inequality isn't a real problem
Did the Republicucks tell you that?

Honestly? That's the real life of a pretty big percentage of people. Wonder why some people argue over a couple of bucks? The ones who sell their used tacky shit for less than the fuel costs to pick it up - you know, the stuff you'd probably just throw out to avoid the hassle - the ones who turn up to watch their kids play/perform in their work clothes then shoot off back straight after.
That's them, they're everywhere. It's how it is now. Not good man.

>putting the hammer INSIDE the glass
No wonder socialism always fail

Because "get a better job that one isn't meant to support you" but with literately every fucking job you don't have to magically have 4 years experience in for still not enough to get by.

not the user you're replying to, but god FUCKING damn you are a legit retard
reading your posts made me fucking mad

>i had half my dick cut off so we should all have to suffer for everything
