I hate Neil Young and I hate that album art.
On the Beach is just sooooooo much better
Tonight's the Night is just sooooooo much better
It's a good album but pretty weak in his overall discography.
Overrated as fuck
I think it's overrated in the context of Neil Young's 60s/70s output considering you've got After the Gold Rush and Tonight's the Night to compete with.
You're silly
Neil is great, prefer After the Gold Rush myself
I liked the follow up to it Harvest Moon better.

It's his best album, Sup Forums just says it's weaker because it's his most popular
very cozy album. If you cant enjoy heart of gold you must be a sad broken person.
Neil has about a dozen albums that are solid contenders for his "best", he's not the type of artist that has one album that clearly shines above everything else.
He has a lot of different styles so it depends on the type of music you like. If you like simple country-folk then Harvest and After the Gold Rush are good. If you like melodic bluesy stuff then On The Beach and Tonight's the Night are good. If you like jammy rockers with long guitar solos then Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Zuma are good.
Weak album and Neil has admitted so himself. Aside from The Needle and the Damage Done (a song made relevant again by the opioid epidemic) it's pretty mediocre stuff.
>If you like jammy rockers with long guitar solos then Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Zuma are good.
Freedom is also good if you like Neil going into guitar hero mode.
Masterpiece. I pefer After the Goldrush myself. Cripple Creek Ferry is possibly my favorite song ever
Neil Young>Bob Dylan
Harvest>everybody knows this is nowhere>after the gold rush
Never realized he was this acclaimed. 4 on RYM is really high, nevermind all those 4s in a row. That's Beatlesque acclaim. To be fair the Beatles were #1 selling at the same time, but still.
>rym
kill yourself
He's had a long and incredible career, 80's were horrible but he made a great comeback in early 90's. He was very heavily influential on grunge and indie-rock of the 90's.
It's a fine way to discover new music, why are you such an autist ? Count to 10 man you'll get over this.
True he did influence a lot of acts that are also very acclaimed.
Maybe it's an american/canadian thing (or maybe it's just that Sup Forums doesn't care about Neil Young) but in my middle-class-whitebread canadian family, Neil Young is practically a religion.
It's really just that Sup Forums doesn't care that much about neil. He's absolutely massive in most of the US/All of Canada.
fuck off
Fellow Canadian here. Neil is basically God in Ontario.
