>Acting like fascists against fascists

If a democracy doesn't act to defend itself it will end up like the Weimar Republic.

This should've been done a lot sooner.

What's Zizek's take?

It cannot be a democracy that way. Banning them shouldn't be the way to combat them. Only parties with truly illegal intentions should be prohibited

Intention to overthrow democratic constitutional order isn't enough? Read prosecutor's justification in the article.

This isn't Slovak UKIP. They have fascistic tendencies.

No. Banning the extremist parties is just covering the symptoms of underlying disease. As long as a significant portion of the society feels the need to associate them into extremist parties, there is something wrong with the society and forbidding this and that will in no way solve the problem. It will leave it boiling until it explodes in one way or another.

You l, as a Briton, have a different perspective. We don't have a FPTP system, our democracy is only 27 years old and we have a history of a Nazi puppet state.

Could communist parties be banned as well?

Yes, if they have an intention and potential to subvert the constitutional order.

Our communist party is marginal. Slovak far-right scene is significantly stronger.

though you still have their large numbers of supporters that exist. What do you think they will do once their party is banned?

I agree that banning them won't solve the underlying cause.

Nevertheless, if constitutional court rules that ĽSNS is indeed a fascistic party, it will send a powerful signal to those who don't agree with fascism, but who supported Kotleba as a protest vote.

Everytime such a ban happened (in Germany, Czech Republic or Slovakia), it threw these groups in a disarray and disrupted their actions at least for a few years.

This will only make them be more slick and hide their intentions retarded liberal scum heil hitler NA Stráž

They have to organise in independent cells which may or may not achieve much. Here banning and media demonisation works wonders, the far right is impotent safe for a few hardcore cultish families who stopped caring about getting into democracy anyway.

Ban will only make them stronger. The best think you can do is to steal their political ideas and leave only the most radical for them

>It's ok to ban far right parties but not far left ones when both seek to stop democracy and free speech.

OP is probably out to bait Sup Forums.
Eastern euros hate communists, in poland some soviet signs are banned I heard.

Not here, we dont have stront anti communist or anti nazi stance. Op is still a faggot report this thread

>countries that never had an autocracy lectures ones that suffered a totalitarian regime how they should be more tolerant towards those who want to take their freedoms

They tried exactly that and this is the result.

Can you vote against everyone?

Where did I say that? Bring it on. I wouldn't cry for Stalinist KSS or Vzdor. They have pretty much the same ideology as far-right.

Unlike Kotleba's party in parliament, they have no power.

Communist and Fascist parties are banned here. Symbols are fine. We have a communist party but they are not allowed to participate in elections. They just drone on about how bad capitalism is and how awesome Putin is. Almost everyone in politics is in some way linked to the former regime.
He have some far right movements but they aren't getting the same attention as their counterparts in Western Europe.

We have it defined as "support for regimes that suppress fundamental human rights". That covers both communism and fascism.

I forgot the Kraut President changed the law two years ago. Now it says that organizations, symbols and deeds of fascists, legionaries, racists, xenophobes are forbidden and that the promotion of cults of personality around people that have committed acts of genocide against humanity and war crimes is also forbidden. Mama Merkel would be proud.
