Only once. When I was doing my internship at a local TV news program I had to make a short segment about a murdered bus driver. Shit was not cash.
Sorry to break it out to you but El Salvador is not really that much as a hellhole as the media portray us. I'm not even rich, I use public transportation everyday yet I have never been mugged or seen a scene of violence. Of course, you have to know where you stand at all times. I stay away from the dangerous areas of the city.
