Any other millennials having a hard time finding a job?

Any other millennials having a hard time finding a job?
I am sick of this shitty economy and not being able to find a job. Its even worse when I see articles like this.

linkedin.com/pulse/5-to-dos-any-22-year-olds-career-colin-shaw?trk=hp-feed-article-title-hpm

When this guy was my age he was already working and climbing the corporate ladder. The only job I've had was a temporary gig as a "crowd manager". It paid shit and only happens twice a year.
I may not be at this guys level until my late 30's

Try a temp agency if you're not a neet

What do you have a degree in? What sorts of jobs are you applying for?

Be realistic and ask yourself, "What do I have to bring to the table?"

Not much, right? So, is it really the economy? Is that the only thing wrong with this picture? Or perhaps, juuuuust maybe, you're a fucking loser and don't deserve the jobs you're trying to get. The longer you keep holding out for that "perfect job", the longer you'll be out of the workforce and have even worse prospects.

Work at a call center, join the military, go back to school if your parents will foot the bill, just do something other than complaining and putting out applications for jobs you can't get. It's a waste of time and bad for you. ;^)

What playable skills do you have?

Yeah I was a temp for a couple of months. They set me up in this factory filled with criminals and illegals.
That job is sporadic at best. Sometimes in an entire month would get 30 hours, then for a month I would get nothing. Before that seasonal retail which also gives few hours and fires people after 2-3 months.
I tried Craigslist, indeed, monster, linkedin. I am either not qualified or too far away.

I am studying Electrical Engineering. And I am applying for anything that doesn't require a degree. Retail (They never hire me, literally a waste of time), dunkin doughnuts never sends back an email, I could go on.

I tried a call center but the nearest one was Staten Island, which is 4 hours by mass transit and would be double fares. But guess what I applied anyway and still got nothing.

>EE student
>Graduated from a vocational high school so worked with power tools before

>inb4 trades
I applied for the subway station terminal in my city and didn't get hired.

Why do you think its so hard for you to find a job? Genuinely curious.

I don't know man. Pretty crazy that you're applying to literally anything and getting nothing, not even retail and fast food. I guess your area is just fucked. I would give up.

You're still a student, so that is a positive. Focus on your degree, get in good with your professors. Use them as references to get internships and get experience in your field, that way you can have actual opportunities when you graduate. You may have to move, but if you did things right it will be moving for a better life. Just ride it out and eat up those loans, you're already locked in at this point. Make it work, otherwise it will all have been a waste of time and money.

If you graduate and you still can't find work (because you were lazy and didn't do internships or had a shit gpa), then join the military. Don't give me none of this boo hooing nonsense about how you hate authority and are too moral to support the war machine, just do 4 years and get sweet benefits while setting yourself up for having a cushy job as a contractor. If you aren't qualified for the military due to medical factors, then I'm sorry. I guess god just hates you then.

Are you getting an actual EE degree from an accredited university, or an "electronics" degree from a for-profit degree farm? If the former, there should be an internship office in your engineering college to help you apply to interships/co-ops. Since you're STEM, you won't be cucked into some unpayed bullshit.

Get SOME actual work experience before you leave school. I interview a lot of tards who fart around for 4+ years, get a 3.0 GPA and end up knowing nothing.

>masters degree
>teaching credentials
>apply to be a high school teacher
>thank you, we have completed our applicant search and have chosen other candidates. Thank you for your interest
>apply to be a middle school teacher
>thank you, we have completed our applicant search and have chosen other candidates.
>apply to be a teacher at a private school
>thank you, we have completed our applicant search and have chosen other candidates.
>post fliers offering to be a tutor for individuals and groups, $15 an hour
>wind up fucking 15 year olds instead
Welp

No, there's a lot of good jobs around here but I need to get my driver's license first.
I couldn't get it earlier because nobody was around to teach me how to drive and there aren't any driving schools here.
Now my aunt is teaching me.

What's the best job to get Sup Forums? Which job is the most overpowered?

You sound like an idiot whose been sitting on his computer his whole life.

>be me
>first job at 14
>work through high school
>join national guard (free college)
>start school
>work part time, chip away at classes, go to Iraq,
>finish college
>immediately get job in field (healthcare)
>$55,000 in the Midwest

I'm jealous, at least you got notifications that the position had been filled.

I never got any feedback unless I had already moved up to the interview portion. Good luck with the statutory!

I'd hire you if I could senpai. I just need a little more capital first before I start up.

as a recent engineering grad myself (but in a different field) what companies are doing right now is not hiring the recent grads who realistically should start between 60-80k depending on degree, claiming there aren't enough qualified candidates and pushing for more h1 visas so they can hire fucking indians to do our jobs for 20k a year.

also if you exclude the wealth increase for the 1% in this economic "recovery" the economy has actually gotten a lot worse and job growth has been hugely stagnated.

america needs economic protectionism or else we are fucking screwed

>Good luck with the statutory
I have filmed every encounter I've had.
They all consented and one even threatened to claim rape if I DIDN'T practice with her in order to please her boyfriend.
I have heavily read into adolescent sexuality and psychology and have retained a kike lawyer.

I'll be fine, unless I starve to death due to being a NEET

Best job? There is no universal best job, unless you include being independently wealthy and living off the interest.

No matter what path you choose, work is going to suck. That is just a fact of life, work sucks. Don't get me wrong, some jobs are way worse than others, but no matter what you do, you still have time obligations that make you do things you would rather not be doing at that moment.

It becomes a question of priorities and values. What do you want out of life? Prestige? Helping less fortunate? Authority? Intellectual challenges? Physical ones? Do you want your job to not be on your mind when you're off the clock?

Once you answer these questions for yourself, it narrows down the potential fields quite a bit. No job is perfect, anyone who says they wake up every day looking forward to their job is a fucking liar. It's just a ratio of misery to compensation.

A lot of it comes down to nepotism and networking, plain and simple. You being some random nobody bumps you down below the janitor's nephew in terms of a hiring list, even if he is less qualified, simply because his uncle works there. Also, shit-tier retail jobs typically hire high school students because they can pay them less than peanuts and they won't complain, whereas anyone older typically wants an actual wage.

Worst comes to worst, get a truck license. Companies are always looking for someone to work shit-tier hours and go cross-country, because no one wants to do that. They usually pay decently, too.

>tfw graduated with stem degree 3 weeks ago
>tfw already got a job

I did not fall for the meme

Nice nepotism and trips, faggot

Not that guy, but thinking back to when I just graduated college (2012) with laughable "work" experience, I got tons of interviews at least. Now with more higher level work experience I can't get a single call back no matter what I apply for.

Actually true doe
But it will pay off for them, I'm worth it.

>I am studying Electrical Engineering.
You are 22, you must almost be done your degree?
Are you minoring in Comp Sci as well? I know a lot of people get into Finance with an EE degree.

>EE degree from an accredited university
^this
I applied for a few internships. One a trillium trading company. A lot of the internship deadlines are pass now sadly.

what state are you in
gpa, interests, etc

>It's just a ratio of misery to compensation.

Couldn't have said it better. I've never loved a job in my life.

>fighting in some desert wasteland for the eternal jew

top goy me lad

I've got about 3 years left had to take this year off and one went part time last semester to pay tuition.
I am also transferring schools because my one is charging me way too much.

NYC friend. my interest are mostly in electronics and hardware. Specifically RC airplanes/jets/"drones". I applied for a drone repair technician on Monday and still haven't gotten an email yet. I am worried because its becoming a patter of getting confirmation that the application was received and never getting anything back.

You just admitted to piz.

Hope you have good proxy.

is that pewdiepie

>Blames the economy for his inability to get a job

Fucker, there's work everywhere, you just don't want to do it.

Go down to the local employment resource center or whatever your state calls it, walk up to the front desk and say oyu need a job. Now.

I'm 107% positive that they'll either hand you a list or point you in the direction to start asking employers for a job.

But here's the catch:
>It's not going to be glamorous
Well no shit it isn't. Don't buy into the bullshit they told you in high school about how you can get what you want to do just because you managed to drag yourself to yet another set of classrooms for four years.

Just get a fucking job. Sort files, make spread sheets, dig ditches, work on a road crew, stock shelves, mop floors the list goes on and on and on. But you won't do it, because you're still believing the lie that you're some super special and talented individual and that if you just wait long enough and bother the right people enough times, you'll get that dream job at Raytheon or Pixar or whatever.

Money is money. Earn it, keep up the skills you went to school for in your spare time and keep your head up for something that might lead into what you want to do. And when that time comes when you'll interview for that position that will get you the "in" you'll have life experience to draw from as well. It will show your prospective employer that you can adapt, overcome and endure.

But that won't happen, because you'll bitch and moan about how this intangible thing called the economy is keeping you down and you'll rot, grow bitter and vote for whichever politician will try to give you the most free shit.

Fuck.

>three years left to finish

No shit you can't find a job.

You're a fucking freshman

Meh, I didn't do any actual fighting. It wasn't that bad and I made a lot of money for a 21 year old. It also gives you a lot of life experience. Not to mention the health and school benefits.

This past February I got a job waiting tables for a nice, but fairly new restaurant. It took many applications before this one allowed me in.
I would have done more of an IT job, if I had the skills, and I haven't found any places nearby that need someone with certification in 3D modeling and animation.

Fear not, OP, sometimes life decides to be fucky with you, but keep on trying to make the best out of it.

I dunno what to say. I have 24 community college credits and make 60k a year. My salary and skill set is only increasing too. If I pay $40 for a Google Analytics certification...I can make 90k.

If you have basic computer skills you can get a job.

Dear OP. I have three graduate degrees. I routinely assist others at the management level in my field even though I have been seeking non-management roles for the last 18 months.

Nepotism is king. Nepotism is god.

Wash dishes faggots. Go to every restaurant in your town and ask if they need a dishwasher. I've washed dishes. I know guys certifiably retarded that have gotten that job. The only people who are oh book hook no jerbs are those that consider themselves above honest work.

If getting decent pay for sitting around getting work experience and decent pay, all while collecting valuable benefits, is falling to the jewish trap, then I'll be a top goy any day of the week.

The real trick is not falling for the army/marines infantry meme.

Ohave you tried walking down a street and going into every business and asking for a job application, then going home with a stack of them, then filling all of them out, then submitting them the next day, then repeating to process? that has never failed me.

completely useless asian girl I know just quit her job as a register drone and got two offers that paid better within a week.

You have an education, the important things you don't have are, in order: Proof of a viable work ethic, proof of common sense, proof of practical knowledge, and proof of skill.
Get ANY job before you swing for the fences, you fuckwit. You could show up to a bicycle assembly job with a mechanical engineering degree and you'd get no special treatment, and it's not because you're overqualified.

>girl

Well it's not wonder.

The one you're good at and doesn't make you want to kill yourself every morning

>when you can't find a job
>when your parents bring up the girl from church who got a job right out of college
>girl

You have convinced me, I am now a #BernieBot

No shit my mother is always fucking bringing up her friends daughters and how "successful they are" and all that shit.

Annoys me greatly it does.

Well it was 2.5 but this transfer is going to make me lose 27 credits. But I can't afford the school I am at anymore

well, there you are OP your problem is that you are a male. fortunately trannies are all the rage now, any job you apply for and don't get just sue them for using the wrong pronouns.

No one's gonna give you a job as a sophomore either.

I suggest finding a job on campus and working while taking classes.

Probably already do this, any work is good work

Thank you!
Out of all my close friends only 2 of us work manual labor jobs/trade jobs. My friend bought a brand new corvet since he is a process tech and makes like 35 an hour. I do role access/NDT and make 3w an hour. Its fucking hard work sometimes. Sure it would be nice to work in an office all day sitting in 72 degree temps. Instead I work around equipment that is hotter than 200 degree.

>TL:DR get any fucking job faggot until you can find the job you want.

They opened a burger joint in my friends neighborhood. He went down to get a job. They told him they weren't hiring. His sister went down there later that week and got a job.

Try harder. I was scrapping by as a freelancer in philly for 4-5 years. Recruiters started contacting me and one of them placed me in a corporate gig. Once you're in, you're in. I have other corporations emailing me now starving for my "experience."

I can afford a house and a family now. I'm currently 32, I broke in to corporate when I was 29. I also don't have a degree.

I applied at all the walmarts in my area, a bunch of fast food places, and few HEB's, I'm bilingual and am free 24/7 and am willing to work overnight since college is over, it's been about 2 months and none of them have gotten back to me am I doing something wrong? I thought at least one of these low level entry jobs would hire me.

Nope, I'm an unskilled 20 year old who has severe epilepsy (which means no manual labor jobs will take me) and no education outside of high school (which means a lot of office jobs will consider me 2nd class), and I'm making about 7 grand shy of the American median wage working at a large bank. It also helps that I live in an area where the cost of living is lower than the national standard, though. I could survive in a studio apartment just by working at mcdonalds 40 hours a week. Remember, if you're having a hard time finding a job, theres not much shame in working as a 3rd shift janitor or fry cook. It'll pad out your resume and if you're degenerate, you can show up to work high or drunk and no one will care as long as you don't vomit into the oil or mop bucket.

if you're bilingual go overseas or into another country retard.

>"What do I have to bring to the table?"
Well I would like to have something to bring to the table but they want people with past experience. How do I get experience for something that wont accept unless you have experience?

No. I work on an oilfield and plan on working my way up. Started off at 16 an hour and can get up to a 120k salary if I work and learn some things. Oh and I never went to college either.

Millenials shouldn't have a hard time finding a job if they spent their free time in college doing internships instead of partying and being a fucking degenerate.

Wouldn't vomiting in the mop bucket be like the best possible outcome?

Couldn't find a job for 3 months.
>Moved back to dads .jpeg

Isn't housing like ludicrously expensive though? And you're forced to pay for it since there's nowhere else to stay?

Are you guys willing to relocate? Most people I see complaining about not being able to get a job are only looking like 30 minutes from their house tops

Nah. I live in Texas. Given that I do still with my mother sure but we both throw down on the lease which is $1400 a month for a 3 bed 2 bath 2 car garage.

It should not have to be this way. Why do we just accept this by saying such defeating things like "that's just life". We as human beings set this up for our selfs to just work until we die. We created the concept of jobs just so we have something to do with our time spent on this planet

Fucking this. I used to live in Washington state and had to drive 40 fucking miles to my job at a fucking wal-mart. Moved to Texas to an oil town and there's jobs everywhere. Not as much as there once was when there was an oil boom but still plenty of jobs out here.

>unpaid internships

Literally serfdom

Yeah, glad someone can corroborate. Also, lots of memers in this thread. I see a lot of "b-but I have a degree", like that fucking matters... a degree is not a magical job ticket redeemable for a job, you dumbshits. Our generation (the last couple?) have been totally mislead when it comes to what college is and what it isn't.

Meanwhile you've got people going to coding bootcamps and getting jobs paying 60k after three months of training.

So many people are just so clueless. It's sad. I feel like the generations who left this world to us totally fucked us over.

If you want a job I can give you a referral if you want.

convergys.com/careers/na/united-states

It's decent hours and salary. I work there now. It's not much but it let me move out of my folks' home.

>72 degrees
are you a faggot? that is what too hot. 65 degrees is the most any facility should be at

What are you making m8
don't sugarcoat it

No bitch we invented jobs to survive.
Soon we formed societies and people specialized because it was more efficient.
Now we are efficient enough to work for a few minutes and get a full meal, where before it took days to hunt, months to grow crops

Had a job lined up 3 months before college graduation, this was last year. Within that time I have had 5 head hunters find my linkedin profile. Not hard to find job hard to not get tempted by the other jobs.

Just landed a $100k + equities + benefits. I'm 21 and my achievements aren't very impressive. How can anyone possibly have a hard time finding a job?

Underrated.
Employers want to see you can hold a job before they bother with you. General rule is you gotta do manual labor before you get to cozy it up in the white collar paradise. Just don't vote bernie, he cant help you.

Eh, I'm on the job hunt myself since I'm fresh out of college. Fortunately, I do have past jobs and working experience although nothing directly applicable. Hopefully it'll go well; at least I have a real degree.

>No bitch we invented jobs to survive.
Yes and we have long since past that point of needing to survive. We have hit a plateau and dont know what to do. We just think we grow up, work something fruitless and then die. It does not accomplish anything if it was a case of survival. We have all progressed since that point

You dipshit being bilingual is a sought after skill here in the states especially when I speak the second most common language spoken here also why the fuck would I go work overseas for a fucking minimum wage job?

>at least I have a real degree.
Congrats on getting something that wont help you at all in the work force.

what is this? How much is the pay and what would I be doing?

>babbys first nihilism crisis

nvm I applied already

temp agency's have you sign your rights away before they place you in a job. shit sucks so bad.

>temp agency's have you sign your rights away before they place you in a job
Howso?

ONE WORD

INTERNSHIPS

/thread

I'm a Customer Service Representative II. I make $10.75 per hour with bonuses for good performance. In the last pay period (Two weeks) I earned $594.13, even with some unpaid time off. It's not big money but rent here is cheap enough that it gets me through.

im perfectly fine with nihilism. it's not existing that scares me.

Do they hire just anyone? Does training take a long time? Sounds like you get almost no hours

Women get jobs easily

Most of the economy is service sector, and service sector wants pretty young girls dealing with customers, not men.

Not to mention male execs stacking an office like it's a personal corporate harem, or HR affirmative action/diversity quotas ensuring unqualified women get hired.

That's a good one. Tell the potential boss you'll be a transwoman and transinjunegro on paper, but a productive white male in practice.

They are pretty open to hiring anyone. The requirements are on the website. My training took about six weeks but it was paid.

I get 80 hours per week, I just had to take some time off this week. Also that was after taxes, IRA, etc.

>80 hours per week
fucking hell

Yeah it's pretty insane. Even internships these days require experience. It's practically impossible to get an entry level position in anything.

It also largely depends where you live. If you live in California, don't expect to ever get a job. Maybe eventually if you're really lucky.

Sorry, 80 per pay period. That would be every two weeks. My bad.

I'm in welding school right now and everyone says there's plenty of good work out there for welders, specifically for what I want to do, aluminum TIG, but I'm not being memed on, am I?

Such a bunch of Boomer bullshit.

>HURR MUH FIRM HANDSHAKE, DURR MUH STRONG EYE CONTACT

Yes, those things are important but they will not get you a job directly. As someone whos worked good paying jobs successfully in both the Oil Industry and as a Merchant Marine, its all about planning your move ten steps ahead and, most importantly, just being in the right place at the right time.

Welding is a trade, was there a trade school where you lived already, or did you have to go out of town/state for that?

I'm seriously considering dropping college and going the trade route.

Elevator Technician is my top preferred.

Nah, there are plenty of welding jobs out there, provided you're competent and willing to work on their schedule.

Welding is awesome but it pays well because
It's dangerous, and
People tend to be unreliable.

>Need job while going to uni
>Walk into restaurant for an application
>Have no work experience
>They hire me instantly

Pay's decent for work that isn't actually all that bad.

How'd you get hired? Do they hire NEET sperglords? (Genuinely curious)

Forgot to answer your other question. Convergys is basically a call center for other companies. I work as a representative for Blue Cross and I answer customers calls about their insurance. The friend who referred me here works as a service representative for Apple products and does tech support by chat. There's also FedEx, Zenefits, and other projects that a person could be assigned to.
