They didn't even get through all of Velocity, why do normies have such shit taste? Why is this album so underrated? I don't get how someone can't see how great this album is.
I just tried to play this at a party full of normies and they shut it off
Because they're retarded. Kill them.
i bet op is 17
DSCO and Chocolate Matter are the only songs on there that could possibly appeal to normies.
because they don't actually care about the music, just as long as it's catchy or lit it's fine.
My one friend Dwight actually called it "trash dubstep" wtf fucking normies REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE why can't they have actual good taste instead they'd rather listen to fucking drake and garbage rap. ugh. i can't believe this world!
21 in may actually.
So true. I have normie plebs. This is why I should not have gone. Fucking Dwight said I should go. But he was wrong. All I did was shitpost on my phone in the corner anyway. :/ Feelsbadman
You deserve all the social fallout you get for thinking that was a good idea.
because normies have trash taste and so do you
just kidding i love you
No, imbecile. I don't even give a fuck anyway. My social climate is basically non-existent besides my one friend who never messages me anyway. I thought I'd go to a party for the first time and try and enlighten these normies with some actually intelligent and thought provoking experimental music that actually touches your soul and not some plebeian pop music garbage but of course they rejected opening their minds. How sad. I hate society. Someone on here said to slowly introduce them to my own music but that did not work. They didn't like My Bloody Valentine either. They called it trash.
This album is fucking shit and you're a tryhard teenager
I'm getting Deja-Vu-ception from this thread I feel like I've seen this at least three times before
I am nearly 21, you idiotic asshole.
That's not slow you retard. You've made no attempt to understand them, you've just imposed yourself on them instead. You need to show empathy for others you stupid bitch.
It's either stale pasta or some trolling that is so blatantly clear it actually gets past most people. Either way, it's absolute gobshite.
I was like you, OP. I tried to get my friends to listen to good music instead of the usual garbage they listen to.
I realized that it's not possible to change people's tastes by imposing on them. Music needs to be discovered on their own. I stopped giving a fuck and now I keep my recommendations to myself.
What the fuck happened go this board
I do not know how to understand the mindless. I was polite, they offered to let me play my music via bluetooth so I offered. Then they flat out rejected me and told me to leave. How do you think that feels? They could have given it a chance.
Chocolate Matter is the only good song, so that's understandable.
Literally my favorite album. I don't share it with any normans cause they're not worthy of it
these anons are right.
OP this is a great album but you're a goddamn retard for thinking it'd be a good idea to play such niche music at a fucking party which is a social setting for people to mix and have fun with music serving as filler background. it's like playing lcd soundsystem or aphex twin at a funeral.
try to understand that other people prefer other things in certain situations and be more self aware and empathetic. don't be a snobby egotist idiot.
same thing as being 17. know your audience/time and place for everything hoss.
lololololol r u trolling or r u actually just this much of a vapid, stuck up pos
lcd soundsystem would be pretty sick at a funeral desu
>tfw All My Friends plays as your friend's body is lowered into the ground
is OP unty?
What music where they playing before you put it on? Just curious
OP here. You're right. I figured they might ignore my music but I figured I'd try to open their musical taste to something better but fuck it. Normies are stubborn creatures. I don't get them honestly.
So very wrong. Dsco, Velcoity, Sept, Pro : Lov : Ad are all 10/10.
Well said, sir. They're not worth it honestly. They just don't get it. Only my friend does cause he does a lot of acid.
Well at a party people are supposed to enjoy good music right? And I thought they'd be bored of Drake and XXX by now but I guess not. I thought they'd open their minds but I guess it's a rarity. I am empathetic I just think they were jerks to insult me and not give it a chance. Why not try my stuff? They asked me to. I'm not snobby just realistic. This music is genius after all.
Big difference. I'm more mature than most of the people I know by years. I have an old soul, not trying to sound pretentious but I've had ego death, experienced a lot and travelled a lot. I may be a loner and an introverted weirdo but I'm not retarded.
Mostly rap (Ugh), and some pop and country. It was hard to tolerate for long honestly.
abandon thread. OP is a serial master-baiter.
play some patrician rap for them my man
...
I feel like you have a mild to severe diagnosis of aspergers
Well the only rap I somewhat enjoy is Tyler, The Creator and some old stuff. Not a big fan. I find it mostly the same type of loud stuff that gives me a headache after 5 minutes. Don't get me started on pop-rap or trap.
Not baiting, I have no reason to at all. Feel free to think so though, friend. Been on Sup Forums for over 3 years.
Normies don't like to try new music, even if it's stuff that seems like it should be in line with their taste. They only like whats familiar to them.
Go
just say you're 20
>he actually just said "i have an old soul"
lolololol it geeks me when people are pretentious while also being really fucking vapid, you will die alone
It's a shame. They really need to expand their horizons but many won't unless they're open minded or high on molly.
Alright, didn't think that was a big deal but okay.
>Mostly rap (Ugh), and some pop and country.
Of course they're not going to like it then. I wouldn't play Sweet Trip to normies unless they were tripping on acid or something. Now that would blow their mind.
>all rap is bad
> music today is shitty
get over yourself. you did not play party music and they turned it off because people don't want to listen to your obscure dance music and you took that personally because your ego is too big. You think you are better than them just because you picked a shitty song for the environment.
>i have an old soul
confirmed for child
do none of you go to parties
people want to hear what they know
playing Sup Forums shit at a party is like going to an avengers screening then pausing it to put on citizen cane
time and place y'all
...
normies can like old rap, so that may be a good place to start
but yeah try to stick to more basic stuff with normies if you want to ease them into it
At a party people just want to socialize and have fun and the music is only there as background noise to reinforce the mood. No one is there to listen to good music or appreciate art in any form, they want to get drunk, hang out and possibly get laid and that's really it.
I'm sorry you don't have any friends who want to hang out and listen to good music in a more relaxed and open setting than a house party, but you honestly set yourself up to fail by playing something like Sweet Trip at a normie party. They most likely just found the music annoying distracting because it completely killed the vibe. I'm saying this as a huge fan of the band that you are not being realistic at all by thinking you can just put this album on around people who genuinely don't care and expect them to enjoy it.
>calling sweet trip party music
Holy shit this is not okay.
My ego isn't big btw, I was trying to show them something cool. Chill out.
I feel like I do and have been told I do but alright.
Well I figured that may be true but was still let down. I guess I had to vent... it shouldn't take acid to listen to something actually good. Oh well... anyway. Whatever. At least I have this place which has (some) people with good taste.
Yeah, I hear you & I understand that. I just wanted to say screw it and put on something I actually like since I was offered to play my music and remembered seeing a thread here recently saying that Sup Forumstants should play their music to normies to get them to open their minds and appreciate better music. Clearly I rushed into it. Oh well.
>So true. I have normie plebs. This is why I should not have gone. Fucking Dwight said I should go. But he was wrong. All I did was shitpost on my phone in the corner anyway. :/ Feelsbadman

You sound like someone posting on Sup Forums for the first time trying to sound like it's not your first time. Holy shit I expect some faggot to crop this thread into a cringepic.
this
there's cross over between good music and party appropriate music but its def not sweet trip lol
could you guys imagine unironically using the word normie
They are there to socialize and talk. not to appreciate music. Youre being so judgmental to people because you killed the vibe. Like you did this all to yourself, but its the "normies". You are setting yourself up as this enlightening music listening god, but you also said most rap music is shitty. I am willing to bet a few would like to hear it, but when you are at a party the music is just fun noise.
Yeah no it looks good on paper but it is not to be done in a social party scene. If it was more laid back like some kickback you could pass it without them batting an eye, but when the aux gets passed to someone at an actual party one is expected to play something a whole group can vibe to i.e popular music people know.
never listened to this album but the album cover looks neat
Its a little long and drawn out, but it has a great sound and direction. Also try his collaboration with Knxledge, Yes Lawd!
that's fair, i woulda said top 10 last year though after i saw him perform it. yes lawd is great though they work so well together
It's not really even about rushing into it, but just picking the right time and place to introduce people to something. I respect your efforts but a party is not a great place to make people open their minds and help them cultivate an appreciation for more complex or artistically ambitious music.
If you were hanging out with 2 or 3 normie friends and you wanted to show them something a bit more exotic than what they're used to it would probably go over a lot better but I wouldn't expect a lot. Even then, it will always be hard to sell an album that is a fusion of IDM and Shoegaze to people who have no idea what either of those are in the first place. Most people who are willing to expand their horizons will have already done it on their own time anyway.
I can assure you I've been here since mid 2015, I am infact an oldfag. I actually helped created several copypastas and started a few ironic memes. I'm not new in the least. Just was bored and wanted to try something new. As always it failed.
It's very common. Come on I hear it a lot here and even from some more mainstream people.
I don't think most rap is shitty but most mainstream rap these days while "fun" is kind of boring after a while and I prefer to listen to many other genres. As for a "music god" I wouldn't say that but I'm thankful for finding Sup Forums when I did because I discovered my love for avant garde music, field recordings, Boards of Canada, shoegaze such as Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Sweet Trip, Lsd and the search for God, All Natural Lemon & Lime Flavors among many other great experimental genres, a love for Ween, AnCo, Melvins, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Venetian Snares, Brian Crain, Bon Iver, Nick Drake, Joy Division, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, OneohTrixPointNever, the list continues on for a while. Over 30,000 songs from here. Thank you all.
I get that. I figured why not?
That is good advice... Obviously I was too impulsive and had a dream that they'd love it and high five me like it was a movie like fucking Superbad.
ITT: pure, unadulterated autism
lol that'll never happen, trust me dude, just like what you like and sperg about it on the internet like the rest of us autists
>been here since 2015, am an oldfag
alright guys he's trolling we can all leave now
no stop the wounds are still fresh
I'm not though. I've been on Sup Forums since 2010, but didn't find Sup Forums for a while after. Used to just lurk on Sup Forums and shitpost when I was bored. Then I found /wg/ and Sup Forums

I'm saving this for future pasta use
Nice bait, faggot.

You either possess the ability to appreciate creativity or you don't. Normies don't possess that ability and would rather listen to trap beats that dumb them down. Normies love feeling dumb.
>reminder that the average Sup Forumstant is this autistic
As a self diagnosed sperglord I understand where you are coming from completely. I've been through both the fantasy of introducing people to more adventurous and experimental music, and the frustration of having those efforts be completely ignored, but it really comes down to finding friends with a similar outlook and sharing new music with them. Easier said than done, I know, but trying to convert total normies is a lost cause.
lad, here. you aren't an old soul and you aren't mature if you run into these problems in social scenarios at 21. your arguments sound like my drug addled younger brother who has crippling social anxiety who is also your age. saying shit like that prevents you from making friends and getting laid at parties. i'm 31 and can guarantee i have travelled more than you. have zero clue what your experiences are, but you strike me as someone trying too hard to be "alternative" in the college circuit. just be cool, be yourself, but don't impose like an earlier fag said. humility is a wonderful thing in equal doses with pride. take this egg of wisdom and crack it over your existence. gains will come.
> play jamie xx, kaytranda, nicolas jaar, stardust, and dj sprinkles at my friend's frat party
> everyone is fucking dancing and shit
> everyone tells me I have a great taste
you're playing the wrong music op
you played house music at a party and people danced? theres no way bro, your friends are patrician af
stardust is sick tho
literally who?
No one comes to a party to appreciate something cerebral like that album. Music at a party is just supposed to be unchallenging loud noise. Maybe if you told them to listen to it in a conversation about music, they would be more open to different genres. Most normies would like GY!BE, but they don't want to hear that at a party.
(I've hadn't ego death btw)
Thanks for showing me this album. The first song was shit, but as I suspected, it was intentionally shit to hide the tasty center. Thank you.

Yep. After that it gets amazing. It's like the beginning of Quebec.
The province, or is there an album known as 'Quebec' that I don't know of and should check out?
Ween, dude. Great album, definitely worth a check out. It's pretty experimental and interesting. And more mature than any other album by them.
Merci beaucoup for the recommendations. This is a way better way of finding music than listening to Fantano or seeing what's new in the iTunes Store.

Tfw the first song is my favorite
Why the hate
Weird. I thought it was way too brash.
What's wrong with these bands or this post? Why is this being forced as a pasta?.....
They were pissed you didn't play their best album.
In all seriousness, it isn't exactly party music. More like put in on in the background with mid to low volume and chill out with a few friends kind of album.
nice bait
How is this bait?
first of all, this: secondly, this album is way the fuck overrated by you guys' echo chamber snowballing. i dont have normie tastes and i listen to a lot of music similar to this and found it franky pretty meh
this has to be bait
if it isn't I feel sorry for you, you will lead a very bitter life
>I'm more mature than most of the people I know by years. I have an old soul, not trying to sound pretentious but I've had ego death, experienced a lot and travelled a lot. I may be a loner and an introverted weirdo but I'm not retarded.
>Mostly rap (Ugh)
almost had me with this bait
literally every single post op has made has been obvious bait
just thought y'all should know he wasn't even trying to hide it
maybe they dont like you because you're a fucking loser
>I have an old soul
if this is bait you're truly raising the benchmark user
Fantastic thread.
That's how you know real skill is involved. When the people going in have to know on some level that they're being baited and they still take it. It's a thing of beauty.
