How to drive a car with a stick?

punch the stick until it fits then dump left pedal thingy and nail the throttle. you need to be parked on an incline first though

Find some YouTube videos on it, those would be a lot more helpful because you need to see what's going on to understand. The hardest part for most new learners is the clutch pedal. But nah this is far from a stupid question assuming you're from somewhere where automatics are the majority.

put it in first gear
go
put it in second gear
go
repeat for number of gears in gearbox

Basically this. There's lots of youtube videos that explain it really well along with visuals.

Just grind 'em til you find 'em.

Instructions unclear, my dick stalled.

Practice. It's a skill you develop over time. It's not like an automatic, where you just put it in drive and go. You actually have to have practiced skills to do it smoothly, without looking like a 'Tard.

when static, drop the clutch, move the gears to the selected gear (1st, or reverse), let the clutch out carefully while keeping the revs steady to pull away.
When moving, clutch in, shift gear, clutch out.

braking to a halt, drop the clutch as you come to a halt too.

a few hours practice gets the basics.

Get friend with beater stick car to take you to a big parking lot like Wal-mart or a mall or whatever. Tell him to go to a movie or something while you learn. Drive the car around in the parking lot until you get the hang of it. ???profit.

Easy. Sit in the car, turn on the engine and drive away.

How to amputate penis without bleeding out?

I m from Europe. Everyone use the manual change here. I was wondering if cars in America are mostly automatic or manual

depress the clutch, sever the penis at the root, then let the clutch out slowly

Ok. How does manual tranies works?
Clutch is something, that connects and disconnects the engine, allowing to slip, to prevent stalls, right?

So to start I should slowly release the clutch pedal and add a little bit of gas, when car wants to move?
When it is time to shift, I should release clutch fast or slowly?

North american cars are mostly Auto. Maybe 2-3 people tops that I know drive stick.

press and hold clutch, put stick in 1st, press accelerator to achieve around 5500 rpm, release clutch in a fast and smooth way

???

profit

Dick stalling 101

Protip: 99% of the cars currently on the roads have automatic clutch, but they leave the pedal in for people who just got used to it.
You can safely ignore the clutch and just use the stick whenever you want.

How do drive automatic?

>allowing to slip, to prevent stalls
More like disconnecting the gears so you don't disintegrate them when you connect them while they are moving.

Clutch and break to start. Slowly release clutch and go. Protipo learn on the hill.

Stupid and outdated

Lol
Press brake pedal, start a car, put in 'D', relese brake pedal and step on GAS GAS GAS

...

Unless it's a high end sports car trade it in for an automatic. Stick is extra work for zero benefit.

HOLY SHIT
If you don't know how to drive stick you might just want to wait until self driving cars are normalized.
Fucking retarded question, honestly.

>When it is time to shift, I should release clutch fast or slowly?

slowly will be better at the beginning, you'll have to get used to how to chain gears and revs to not get that nasty punch as you release clutch, releasing slowly will let the engine sort out the revs itself, but will not be very good for the clutch

No, no zero, less fuel consumption.

actually only the cars meant for stupid people do this
my truck starts without the key even

When you first get into a new car every car is a little different. So you want to sit there with the clutch disengaged and the car in gear and running, and very gradually let out the clutch pedal until you can feel it start to engage. This is the car's "friction point". And from there you want to give it a little gas as you smoothly let out the clutch pedal the rest of the way. Smoothness is everything.

Another practice technique some people recommend is finding a flat surface, and letting the clutch pedal out without giving it gas. Most cars if you are smooth enough you can actually get rolling while in idle. Then once your clutch pedal control is good you pretty much have it down.

As for when to shift.. it's all up to you. Obviously if you aren't racing and want a nice smooth economical drive you want to shift somewhere in the middle of the car's torque band. Lots of people will talk about double clutching but the truth is if you aren't driving an old tractor it's probably a synchronized transmission and you can just granny shift. (i.e. clutch pedal in, shift, clutch pedal out).

And never money shift. (Shift into too low a gear at high speeds). Because the manual transmission directly couples the wheels with the engine speed, if you down shift too far you can rev the engine up well past it's redline and fuck it up hard.

Also obviously when you are driving on the roads you aren't going to want to waste everybodies time by getting rolling without the gas. THat's just for practicing pedal control

>release the clutch pedal and add a little bit of gas
only
Yes if gasoline engine. With a diesel engine you only have to release the clutch to go

>When it is time to shift, I should release clutch fast or slowly?
It's vary wildely from one car to another and depends from the condition of the clutch. With some pratice you will find the point of grip of the car you want to drive

No, retards are those, who doesn't want to know/try manual at least once. They really should wait for an automatic tram. (I believe, that automatic cars will not happen... Who cares)

With today's cars that's either an incredibly tiny benefit or no benefit at all.

>no zero
wat? you mean neutral? because at least vw tiptronics can roll in neutral, and new autos are pretty much the same consumption. the real shit happens when something breaks, because towing autos is a pain, repairs suck and more maintenance is required

Clutch in to start the car

clutch in, move stick to 1st, release clutch slowly until you feel it grab or the car starts moving, give a little gas and try to equalize the 2 forces and dont stall the car.
shifting gets easier the higher up the gears.

How do I safely and non-painfully shave my butt hole (am a guy)?

Driving with a standard transmission means you will never have to worry about 'automatic' function. If a gear breaks, just dont use that gear.
and all cars/trucks/vans can start in 2nd or 3rd, even my 2 door honda starts in 3rd gear on a uphill park

Benefit is tiny on highways, but in cities stick is more efficient, that hydro AT. DSG, CVT have the same efficiency, but not reliability.
No zero benificios.

Not a stupid question OP, I just bought a 650 HP car with that stick thingey and 7 speeds, so the car just sits in the garage because no one knows how to drive it. I'm a fag and fucked up.

Ask your boyfriend to do it for you.

Pretty much this. The modern automatic transmission is an engineering marvel compared to the slush boxes of grandpa's day. The computer will adapt to your driving habits and adjust the shift points accordingly to achieve the most economical result possible. And most of them are sealed units, only requiring a fluid change every 5 years, some even not at all, making them super low maintenance.

In fact automatics were already starting to beat manuals for fuel economy in the 90s. Now it's pretty much no contest. Anybody who calls them a slush box is a retard that has never heard of a locking torque converter.

An automatic with a locking converter has no energy loss once you are at speed because it is mechanically locked.

Ok.

This is 100% factually inaccurate.

>How does manual tranies works?
they're such a pain in the ass compared to automatic trannies. the manual ones you have to position the way you want. they won't even suck your dick without you telling them. the best trannies you don't have to coach them at all. they already know what to do and they LOVE to do it. want your dick sucked? BAM, they're sucking your dick and eating the cum. want to rail them in the boipucci? OH SHIEEET s/he done grabbed your dick and stuffed you in before you finished your sentence. i don't recommend manual trannies. they're too much work

Also there's both good and bad automatic and manual transmissions.
If you are buying an economy car 100% chance that the manual transmission they throw in the base model is some shitty cheapo "parts-bin" transmission. If you buy a sports car with a manual it's going to be a robustly built manual.

I didn't drove modern hydros 6+ gears, only 4 speed old as a shit thing.
By the way, even old ATs had a blocking torque converter.

thats cute

No break engine means more of brake pads replacements

Unless you do it yoursels it's a benefit

*brake

Should I start watching ANIME?

I still wouldn't recommend it if you want a car that is engaging and fun to drive. My car has a 6 speed auto and while it's great for economy it's sluggish on the kick-down.

autos are great, in cars and toy trucks

Manuals are usually OK and reliable.
Autos on cheap shitboxes are shitty.

Anything on a cheap shitbox is shitty really but I'll give you that. If you're just going to get a fucking spark or a micra or something you might as well just get the manual becuase otherwise you're in "one step up" territory price-wise.

unless rolling in neutral is what you want to do (although it's not the most economical thing). also both autos and manuals can enginebrake

Not all cars come with AT. Some small korean shitboxes feature 1.0L MT. Some small JDM shitboxes feature 0.6L CVT...

thats nolonger true. Manuals now days are usually a special order because there is no cost savings in installing them in the base model.

>CVT
So what's the deal with these? I see some cars like the civic now offer it as the only "automatic" option but I don't know if I trust the technology yet.
The other day I was outside shoveling my driveway and some dodge caliber drove by slowly with the engine redlining.

your 5 and 6 speeds are so adorable.

Depends on country.
For ex: where I live I can buy Toyota Corolla with 1.33L MT, and in USA you have only 1.6+CVT as I remember.
CVT is old as a fuck, not that reliable. However some can go for 250 000 - 300 000 kms no problem (nissan xtronic)

>left pedal thingy
>so a clutch ?

*clutch pedal

true, but, murica is king of automatic babys.
even proper trucks are geting automatics, and they SUCKKKK.

HOW TO REPAIR A TOASTER?
ONE SIDE OF BREAD AINT ROASTIN

truck transmissions still mystify me

>they suck
My employer's fleet has gone all automatic and they clear intersections faster than I've ever seen a truck do it.

buy a new one or turn the bread over

doesn't sound much more complicated than a john deere and that was piss easy, get off your high horse

>true, but, murica is king of automatic babys.
Because you can't get without driving in US. So ATs had been invented, to make sure, that the most stupid creature would be able to drive.

Next step is tram.

i love having someone whos never seen a manual ride iwth me in an 18speed.

I expect they will be roasting gears soon. also sounds like alot of super truckers in your neck of the woods.

>buy a new one
Do not want.
>or turn the bread over
Other side gets cold.

good, less idiot 4wheelers on the road.

i've nailed changing truck gears in american truck sim, its too easy, and i'm only 12

Even Canada is like that, mostly automatics because of long commutes and shit public transportation in some areas.

Manual drivers are the worst. There's 2 kinds of manual drivers I encounter on the road.
1. Old granny that is slow as shit at shifting, pushes up to 20km/h and doesn't countinue accelerating again until after you're already through the fucking intersection
2. Boiracers who think they are hot shit, accelerate quickly up to 20km/h and then are too busy taking selfies of themselves to shift until after the intersection.

butter the hot side before you flip it, faggot

hahahahahhahahahahahahaha

oh wait, your serious.. let me laugh harder.

and on a serious note, i'll let you cut your teeth in a real truck hauling grain next summer. we'll see if you can REALLY do it.

If you're gonna learn, learn in a diesel. Basically just slowly let out the clutch until the car starts moving without needing to touch the gas at all.

Only tricky part about learning stick is setting off on an uphill. Need to let the clutch out to the point you can feel the car wanting to move and apply gas at the same time as letting off the handbrake (e-brake).

I have a stupid question, but no one will answer. Why is this "too soon"?

Yes, public transport is cool, but automobile is cooler.
You simply do not spot other, normal manual drivers.

ask your boyfriend to drive you anywhere you need to go

>youtube.com/watch?v=8lEYaTvvq4g
literally the same thing as but with moar sticks instead of switch style range selector, but i guess that's advanced for a redneck on meth

got him

>meet up with random autistic kid on Sup Forums
>let him drive your truck
What could go wrong?

too soon faggot. lurk moar

too soon man

very fast

you do realize thats the exact same video i posted

im aware, the selectors are air valves, I've actually seen that sort of truck in person. normaly show t rucks

ARE SELF-DRIVING CARS A MEME?

I'll come drive your shitty truck and probably teach you a few things, the gears will be easy, the hardest part will be getting your mom off of me.

>You simply do not spot other, normal manual drivers.
I suppose that's true.

wouldnt be my truck, truck im thinking is due for new trans anyway(will be last season if it lasts). would be worth it cause wouldnt have to pay him proper rate.

SHOULD I START WATCHING THESE CHINESE PORNOCARTOONS?

Anime is Vietnamese

lmao, i love kiddies like you. you know nothing of the real trucking world.

>If you're gonna learn, learn in a diesel.
this, you still can stall, but it will be much easier to get the feel for it

NO, NORTH KOREAN

'MURICA

north korea is best korea
