Is this just fake news or will something like this actually happen?

They just better not fuck with my porn

Yes

start downloading now user before pajeet man steals your internets

No. It's actually fake news.

Relax user.

Thats a long shot. If anything related to this i could see networks charging apps for premium speeds. That would then maybe trickle down to consumer subscriptions for apps. They would loose too many customers if that was done so it is very unlikly to require subs for fb,tinder etc...

this

God I hope so. Imagine the internet this way. No poor people, kids, wanna be communists(they don’t have jobs). I hope the prices are higher than that. I can afford it and I don’t really care about the rest of you.

no

It may allow you to get better speeds then what you have if you contribute to fiber optic installation in your area through premium internet payments maybe?

Well I guess it could, but that would generally lead to the ISP that does this shit the least raking in new customers. Just because they can do it doesn't necessarily mean they will.

>Please contact our friendly customer service representatives to discuss our new XXX Adults Only Internet Package. Only an additional $12.99/month!

ISP already agree to not compete with each other on their territorial footprints. what makes you think they won't do the same here?

Hahaha i need to go invest in porn magazenes.. they might make a cumback.

This would make life hell for EVERY ISP on the planet.

Try to scare better.

Guess I won't be using the internet anymore.

This only effects poor people and it turns out there’s all lot of you peasants

This would be the time for a new isp to dominate the market.

Was it a thing prior to 2015/16? No? Calm the fuck down

do you think rich people like getting ripped off?

I know right? I thought everyone had at least like 45,000 in the bank until this shit

yes

We had net neutrality back then too, dipshit. It's just that in 2015 it went from Title 1 to 2.

Mfw when I should get free internet

I would love a $30 a month internet. fricken Comcast I have now is nearly $100 a month.

Take your anti-Semitism somewhere else.

You don't understand. Net neutrality became law because in 2014 Verizon started fucking everyone over.

god, i would fucking love that.

if people had to pay to upload shitty pictures to instagram, pinterest etc, then the web would be a much much much better fucking place.

>hurr durr teh joooooos
Great convincing argument there champ.

If Comcast or Verizon actually tried this the public uproar would be so severe they would be forced to back down.

They will, however, throttle Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Twitch, online games and pretty much anything else that competes with cable TV. So enjoy your slower more expensive internet, user.

>didn't happen prior to overturned 2015 laws
>won't happen in future

I can’t speak for anyone else with money but to me $100 isn’t shit. So if I had to pay that just to have access to all the internet I seriously wouldn’t care. I don’t care if that makes me an asshole

lolwut?

If you look closely you can tell he's in ISIS

Its hightly doubtful. The more likely result will be this: google search scented candles
normally, you get one or two results for amazon, maybe sears and a couple others. but you also are likely to get etsy or some other company that is smaller or even privately owned. with net neutrality, to show up on that first search page, you will be paying more for your domain and such.
also, it may filter into youtube. the things theyve been doing promoting certain topics based off your viewing habits will get worse.
another scenario is that new ISPs will pop up to fight larger companies, and eventually help reduce market monopolies (sorry, ogligarchies when a few business own everything in a sector) and eventually help lower pricing overall.

They can build their own pipes. Secure as shit. Free from government or middleman. Its what I would do.

nah, that would be 30 dollars in addition to the basic connection fee for even having access to it. which would still be 100 bucks a month.

Why do you guys care how much it costs your parents so you can troll Sup Forums and fap?

Nah man. This idiots have shit jobs and they suck with money. Poor people are the worst when it comes to managing their money.

I own my own home. My wife and I both masturbate to traps on here, though we don't do much trolling.

The most libertarian comment

Dude this affects laws that were in place back when dial-up was around. I guess youre too young for that though

Eww.

If ISPs wanted to charge you more money, they would. Net Neutrality doesn't factor into that at all.

AT WORST you're going to get an itemized bill with the same price.

The people this hurts are the tech giants like Facebook and Netflix. Not you and me.

what about areas that only have 1 isp? do they get to choose?

This.

this

The problem is new businesses cant get into the market. Comcast and a couple other giants own the infrustructure for the Internet. So new companies will have to pay to use Comcast's (which they will charge a lot to make them non-competitive) or build new infrustructure (very expensive)

Poor person comment. How’s that $20,000 a year treating you?

There is no god.

yeah it's more of a battle between ISP and Content Sites

ISPs really just want to charge heavier traffic sites for extra data.

we MIGHT see Wikipedia having an extra donation drive.

but a good business model has already covered their overhead with whats going on.

>AT WORST you're going to get an itemized bill with the same price.
That would be turning the internet into TV 2.0. Chopping it up into little pieces and selling them to you individually. That IS NOT what the internet is meant to be. Do you want to pay for the internet, and then additional fees for streaming, banking, porn, gaming, Sup Forums shitposting, etc., etc.?

You act as if public uproar does not matter. Sure, these companies can try whatever they want, but its not like people are just going to bend over and take it. Enough people will rage and it will affect these companies.

There are two possibilities.
1 (and the most likely to happen): Nothing will change, literally fucking nothing. And the only changes that might come will be so miniscule that you wont even notice them. These companies know business. It doesn't take a fucking business major to understand that doing something that you know will outrage the majority of your consumers is bad for your business. If a simply nobody on the internet such as myself is smart enough to realize how retarded this would be for business, then of course they fucking know that. They wont do shit.

2. If they do do something drastic, well you can rest easy at night knowing that these retards basically committed career suicide and lost a shit load of money just for being greedy fucks. As long as people have a voice and the free will to protest, these changes wont last long.

Calm. The. Fuck. Down.

>ISPs really just want to charge heavier traffic sites for extra data.
You as the consumer already paid for that with your ISP subscription.

I am but a simple window licker. Does this mean a company can buy service out from under another?

it really is.

I'm all for the NN, but the amount of shitty MSpaint misinformation memes are incredibly high

Lol americans are apathetic as fuck. Even when evidence comes out saying that the government is actively spying on people, they dont get outraged enough. Corporations can walk all over them

Paid for access. Speeds may vary

Watch Elon Musk come to resue ans build an entire competing infrastructure

tell us more about how ISPs being able to control the content their subscribers are able to access is fake news.

Yes. For instance Comcast owns NBC, and as such services like Hulu. Hulu will get priority access on Comcast and fast streaming while you'll probably have to pay more for Netflix.

you first.

you'll just get upset, call me names, ignore my replys. this ain't my first gay rodeo

Elon musk cant even build a rocket...

You can't really stop government from spying on you. True, most people dont give a fuck about that because it does not affect them personally. They only feel personally affected when it involves their internet being fucked with.

>Implying your government isn't spying on you.

It just hasn't come out yet.

Fake news

>this ain't my first gay rodeo
I'm not surprised.

But seriously though, explain how ISPs being able to control the content their subscribers are able to access is a good thing.

I'm not that guy, but I really am curious. What makes you think that it is fake news? I really am interested in hearing your thoughts of why you believe its bullshit.

Sad when people dont care when their rights are violated then, they can stop the government spying, people just need to get off their ass, protest, and vote

So I take it you're not familiar with the works of a man named Edward Snowden?

It's already like this in Portugal and other places around the world.

Not to mention the rest of us with real jobs that rely on the internet for business will be totally fucked.

>nothing will happen
Then why was it necessary in the first place, and if nothing will change, why repeal it?

Fake noice. If it gets bad they'll just net neuter again.

The hero we needed but didn't deserve. I bet Russia is all giddy now that he's living with them.

Yeah, exactly my point. I mean I have seen more people protest against the net neutrality repeal than ive ever seen them protest them being spied on. As for the voting thing, they made their choice by voting for a retard, now they're stuck with him for the next few years.

That's because YOU DO NOT FUCK WITH PEOPLE's porn. Have you seen redtube in any of the packages that ISPs will soon start offering?

Because the decision was made by the Republicans, Republicans being known for the greedy cocksuckers that they are, it's no surprise that they wanted and fought for this. However the farthest the FCC or anyone in government can do is just repeal the law. Thats it. Everything that happens there after is all on the ISPs. Some ISPs are swearing they wont do anything to overcharge their customers or slow their datas down, some are obviously lying about it, and some are just open to the idea of throttling outright. But as for the companies that are open about it, they are facing massive ridicule and controversy nonstop by virtually everyone, Comcast being a great example. Everyone is shitting on Comcast, which is ruining their image.

That's honestly beautiful

That's right. If they try to fuck us we will cause a uproar through outlets like the interne.... shit.

Or yknow, cancel your service or go outside and do it, or call congress. But yeah. Whatever suits you, dude.

But this seems way more important than the rest of the stuff people are talking about. Won't the main media just make the web pay to play and turn it into t.v. 2.0? Could they lock out personal user created content?

The same people who were just bribed to do this shit? I should call them? Or the media corps that played for this shot to be done in the first place? Maybe a tree will listen.

These companies don't give a fuck about what their 'image' is. I've moved around the country a bit for work and have lived in a number of different apartments in big cities. Only once have I had an actual choice in high speed internet. Usually most buildings or streets are 'owned' by a specific telecom. So if you want internet you only have one fucking choice.

This is the biggest problem to me. If there was actual competition in the marketplace, then this law wouldn't matter because they would have to compete by offering a better service at a greater value.

The internet is more than apps you stupid kids.

You have no clue what's being taken from you.

This, it's just going to filter out the retards who can't afford a meager $100.

You clearly dont belong on Sup Forums.
Or you're really new.
Do you even know the values anonymous stands for.

You're swine.

user is whatever Sup Forums says. You know this, right, being an oldfag?

Real news. Microtransactions blew up in the past few years and you mean to tell me ISPs and phone companies won't Jew the same way? You bet this is coming.

Its all fake. We didnt have Net Nutrality before 2015 and this didnt happen...

It already has in countries without net neutrality.

...Expect to pay $2 to access facebook for a night. Enjoy being like the rest of the fucked up planet America. you were the best, now you have fallen. Taken out by Putin.

But ISPs did throttle or block certain traffic.

If you want hurt them. Hurt their pockets. Hit them in the stock exchange by buying competor stocks. Make them panic. Hell, EA is all flipping their shit at a 3% loss equating to something to the tune of 3 billion dollars. Just saying it's an option and doesn't even require you to leave your home or ineract with anyone.

It literally already is a thing in Portugal, so..

$1 has been deposited into your account

It COULD happen, but it probably won't. The regulations currently in place have only been in place for 2 years. It didn't happen prior to that, I don't see how it would if it was that way again.

you should be drawn and quartered

>It COULD happen, but it probably won't.
If life has taught me anything, it is that at any opportunity a big business is able to fuck you, they totally will and then some.

How many mainstream video games had microtransactions in 2015 versus this year?
