The west coast is, on average, fine. There's some cancerous spots but it really can be ignored. The Midwest is literally 10 years behind the west coast in culture and infrastructure. I'm currently living in a relatively major town in Missouri and they don't even have public transit, most businesses don't have websites (including computer businesses and the few businesses that actually do provide transport). Sidewalks are mostly nonexistent, people are voluntarily ignorant on most subjects and have literally nothing to talk about other than Christianity and random gossip. The East Coast doesn't seem to be much different, but I don't have much experience there.
