>as good as it gets for indie unless you're in Brooklyn/Philly. for a smallish town it's freakishly stacked with creative talent. much hipper than most places, something about being in such a conservative region makes it this haven for weirdos and musicians.
dig deeper desu, lots of good shit here beneath the fagpole veneer
you live in the dorms?
I'm a junior at UW. I didn't think anyone else was on here. How do you like it? Aside from the competitiveness, I really like it here. Luckily I was directly admitted to my major so I didn't have to qualify.
also the local scene is aight. it's right in Seattle so there's not much to complain about.
>UAlbany
>Bill Evans & Tony Bennett - Together Again
Not sure what the music scene is like. Trying to find some local shows to go to
don't have any artsy friends here, comp sci peers are more into gaming, so don't know where to dig desu
>WVU
>Collective works of Basinski, Eno, Loscil
>Not great, but the metal scene is kinda cool.
For the most part there isn't a hard-nosed scene, except when you start to cross into PA territory. But there are tonnes of great artists here; poets, writers, musicians (not necessarily in bands/performing), painters, and I know a few sculptors, too.
You've summed up a lot of what I've felt for where I live now. Conservative, brackwater-backwoods mentalities, and then this weird (deftly small) haven of creative output (and riotous sports obsession)
Gonna miss it.
>(((college)))
>Heroes
I've never seen a local show and I don't think I want to.
>MTSU (graduated last year)
>The Glow pt. 2
>Boring. A bunch of mediocre emo bands, edm producers, and rappers. Julien Baker went there though, so it's not all bad.
>BU
>Comedown Machine
>there's something good around most of the time, main problem is that its usually in cambridge
Damn already two other UGAnons
Favorite atm is Bark Psychosis' Hex
Scene is great, there's always some small show where you can catch a band you've never heard of. Surprising proportion of them are really good too.
No college right now.
Nickelback - Silver Side Up
Florence + The Machine - How big, how blue, what Spectrum contained
Etc.

Tobequitehonest, I have no idea. :|
you a freshman? my ex goes there
>UC Berkeley
are you in antifa by any chance
I'm a sophomore. :^)
I'm in and out of antifa every night, those tig bitty bitches may act like strong independent womyn but behind closed doors they love to get that pussy oppressed.
>John Abbott
>Cap'n Jazz - Schmap'n Schmazz
>Some pretty good mid tier venues, punk and metal clubs and bars, always big artists in town. There's a bit of everything, no complaints
Nope. I'm centre-right anyways. I constantly get emails about the protestors though.
Wew lad.
>Augustana
>White Hot Moon - Pity Sex
Not sure about the music scene. I think there are some local punk bands and I've met a couple people with good taste, like a girl with a hospice tattoo
Someone start a band with me please
>Piazza
oh god the terrible memories are coming back
clearly a virgin
>CU Boulder
>Flood - They Might Be Giants
decent, I work at the radio station and write for a music blog so there's a lot of p4k-drones, but I get free tickets to big shows at our local venues, like King Gizz next month
i banged your slutty mom
i eventually stopped working at my radio station for the same reason. there's so much music in the world, and i expected people working at a fucking radio station to be more curious
>Barnard
>Songs for the Deaf
>People think Columbia has a "scene" bc Ezra Koenig and Liturgy played on-campus shows/did the Barnard College radio station (lol ironic) way back when, like 10 years ago. These days it's all shitty nĂ¼ folk from Iowa prep school kids (I didn't know there were prep schools in Iowa; go figure)
>Kim Il-sung University

>People think Columbia has a "scene"
do they really though?
>University of Nebraska, Lincoln
>Subrosa - More Constant than the Gods
>There isn't one, unless you count live reggae at local bars
you'd be surprised by how many people associate Vampy Weeks with Columbia to the extent that they think the campus is crawling with groups of their sort. But it's definitely not associated with fresh talent the way NYU is. at least it wasn't when i was there (oldfag here)
I'll speak on your behalf
the scene is in three, there's a dying hardcore scene, dying pop punk scene, and a larger general music scene that just kind of covers anything you can throw the blanket of indie over
Come out to some Albany shows there's some really good acts out here like Jouska, Hate Club, i feel okay and my band that I won't plug.
>Berklee College of Musik
>probably something by Godspeed
>most the kids around here are asshole extreme left rich kids who never worked a day in their life. The other half are brain dead jazz heads who haven't realized that they have trapped themselves into a dead feild. I just want to study scores and learn music business. Oh yeah and Mac Demarco and blue jeans rule the place.
>North Eastern Engineering and Technology
>Yeezus
>couldn't think of anything clever to say here
Thats because you go to northeastern
>The other half are brain dead jazz heads who haven't realized that they have trapped themselves into a dead feild.
well, at least they do what they love even if it's a dead field. i rather hang around them than marcofags
shut the fuck up NEET is a good school
I don't know if being cool enough to hang is worth $60,000 a year
Berklee College of Waste Your Money Music
you're kidding yourself if you don't think the vast majority of people studying music these days don't come from loaded families
they have nothing to lose
>UWSP
>Townes Van Zandt self titled
