First for " And Lo, When the Imperium Marches Against Gul-Kothoth, Then Dark Sorceries Shall Enshroud the Citadel of the Obsidian Crown" is the best Bal-Sagoth song

What's some good arcane metal?
Mysterious atmosphere, technical solos, lyrics about wizards and sorcerers finding ancient knowledge, that kind of thing

The 2010s is the Decade Of Tourism.
>10s
It's only five tourists, though
speedboozer came out during the 10's
So you see my point
Give me some good 70s proto-metal
No proto-metal in the 70s. You need to look to the 60s.
Hell, Judas Priest did a 10/10 cover of that album's opener. That's metal.

1980: metal started
1st wave bm = best wave
Despite being well known, I've found it to be incredibly underrated. Ride the Sky is actually the least interesting song on it. Admittedly, it learns more towards hard rock/prog than metal
not proto
But it is
not the most essential, but it definitely proto-metal
Like I said, Ride the Sky is popular, but also look up In the Time of Job When Mammon Was a Yippie
>But it is
You can't make proto-something when that something already exists
>what is a cusp
Sorry boy, that's not how it works. Once something exists, something that comes afterwards can't come before it. Blame it on the one-dimentional nature of time.
>implying time isn't four-dimensional
>implying time isn't a culmination of length, width, breadth and duration
>implying all four dimensions can't be manipulated since space and time are interchangeable

lets try to sound like some shit that was considered corny 30 years ago and only got more corny with age.
what's /meal/s favorite Revenge album? mine's BTR
Actually, it's by far better than most other revivalist shit. After the first 2 tracks, it's actually less glam and more speed metal in the vein of NWOBHM like Trojan. Behind the gimmicks, there's songwriting and riffs that easily blow out 99% of revivalist shit out of the water, and approach actual NWOBHM in quality.
Some good stuff for (traditional) metal fans. I'd say in the same tier as Eternal Champion and Wolf.

I'll never not love Paul Gilbert although I left most of the virtuoso stuff behind almost a decade ago.
FUCK DRUMPFT
SQUEEK SQUEEK SQUEEEEK

Sometimes, I listen to power metal.
A decent cross-section of power metal, with stuff like Jag Panzer, and Blind Guardian. And I love that Angel Witch album too.
I'm partial to Mr. Big, even if nobody else is. Paul Gilbert can do things with his pinkie that should be impossible for mortal men.
I'm less familiar with a lot of this stuff, because it's outside what I usually listen to. I really like that Vektor album though, and of course Slough Feg is always nice. Couldn't agree more about Paul Gilbert.
Wake up see this what do?

pretty good
Running up on /metal/ and Sup Forums memes?
so /metal/ Why is BatAAr gonna save metal?
Unfortunately neither place really cares for Cormorant and Hammers though. Too liberal for Sup Forums, too nu male for /metal/
