What's the fucking point of a bass player? You rarely hear them in a rock song, they rarely never sing, they come second(even last) fiddle to Singer, Guitarist, and Drummer.
What's the point in a bass in general? Guitars and Drums almost mute bass, so you can't hear anything. Might as well remove bass altogether.
I'm not going to bother explaining this to you. I will simply state that hou know nothing.
Henry Martin
Thousth know not a thing
Michael Robinson
In rock, bass is half of the guitar tone.
Julian Williams
blame rock producers for cutting freqs below 80 hz, bass is fucking awesome
Cooper Turner
This is now a Police thread
Parker Thomas
Every bassist I've ever known sings? Like, you know, the harmony part.
Well except for one guy I know who's kind of an asshole and only wants to play ska
Tyler Perry
it exists so people can jerk off with it over terrible fusion backing tracks on youtube
Austin Butler
Try playing in a wind band without a tuba, or a rock band without a bass. The tone totally thins out
Jonathan Sanchez
t. Someone who's only listened to And Justice For All. Not shaming your taste but bass actually makes a considerable difference when it's not turned down to practically 0.

question to everyone in this thread: do you think having a hefty ball sack increases your enjoyment of bass-heavy music? I know I don't start groovin' in earnest until i feel the bass wobble my nuts
Nicholas Campbell
Fine. In metal then.

Now go and listen to Stranglehold from Ted Nugent and learn what ebass means.

easily explainible: girls probably feel it in their tatas
Levi White
Rhythm and dynamics and that's really enough, everything else is a plus. Even if you drown it with the guitar and drums (a shit tendency among metal), it will still add depth to the production in general.
Jonathan Garcia
Give an example of a band that does this and you'll most likely have named a rudimentary band
Barely noticeable, but there's still a difference.
Eli Myers
Thankfully their talking about released a remixed version with the bass added back in.
Daniel Rogers
>bass doesn't matte...
Aiden Allen
I would say that the bassist is very important to the band, second only to the drummer. Together, they form the backbone of a band's sound. A good bass player can create a driving groove or play off the guitarist and enhance his sound. Bass can provide emphasis on a particular part of a song, drawing the listener in for an impactful moment of the composition. A band always benefits from a high quality bass player. Without him, something is missing from the mix that no other instrument can fill.

Asher Fisher
do you listen to music exclusively through a phone speaker shoved up your ass?
Silly user, the Police aren't popular enough here to derail a thread. That said I'll play along. Zenyatta Mondatta is their best album and the true best new wave album. I don't care how many songs Sting wrote, Stew is the heart of the band and the best member. That also said Sting is the best one name bassist, forget Flea.

If I want to attract flat girls should I play guitar, violin, or?
Ayden Gray
think of each of the stringed instruments having a direct correlation between it's size and the size of the breast / testicle you want to attract
