Shut up convict
One was spoken by nazis
I prefer German. It's just too bad about the Germans... White guilt is hammered into them from birth. Sad really.
When's the last time a German speaking country won a war?
It's not but America speaks it so you communist pseudocountries better get on board before we nuke your ass.
cockfag
When's the last time America didn't get bogged down in an endless quagmire leaking billions of dollars?
whens the last time a war was lost against a large land dwelling species of bird?
English is easier, a whole lot.
German can be more precise because of all that autistic grammar and it's scientific vocabulary, but you can learn to easily type in English, without knowing how to pronounce English.
well memed.
I feel really sorry about them, they deserve more, americucks can't stop shouting that they are nazis or stop sucking jewish dick
;)
Shut up Hans
wow that was fucking hard
while you're at it, define 'arbitrary' since you obviously don't know the meaning of that word either
Weil unsere Sprache einfach überwältigend ist.
How is it precise Hans
Based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system.
Why use the latin word instead of the more logical germanic word? For someone who doesn't speak Latin (ie literally everyone) the decision to use a latin origin word IS arbitrary, it's just a random word, you could have used literally any other Latin and you wouldn't know the difference.
german sounds nazi af imagine fucking a german chick..
>ambulance, hospital arbitrary
Ever heard of French?
Why does Sup Forums have the lowest IQ posters of all boards?
JELUS WHYT BOI?
An ambulance doesn't look like a sick car... German sounds retarded in God's language
>Ever heard of French?
Yes, obviously I have.
English is one of the easiest language in the world, perfect for the american niggers.
Ambulance, from latin ambulare
hospital, from latin hospes.
Kill yourself and learn to etymology
kranken doesn't mean sick .. it means translated a wounded or injured person, we don't give a damn if it's a open wound or a closed wound.
See
>Ambulance, Hospital
Nothing wrong with these, very universal words.
Why is the Germanic word more logical? It took me one second to learn that ambulance means "sick car". I could easily say the latter if I felt like it, but ambulance rolls off the tongue.
>Tell me again why English is better than German?
Because in German they capitalize all their nouns (which is retarded af).
please repeat after
großangelegtes Flughafenprojekt im Raum Berlin
Dumb straya can't speak his own language. Don't they teach Latin or French in your schools?
How can Australians even compete? They need to submit to the Big Emu Cock.
>For someone who doesn't speak German (ie literally everyone) the decision to use a German origin word IS arbitrary, it's just a random word, you could have used literally any other German and you wouldn't know the difference.
anyone who can spell out this sentence correctly on vocaroo gets a game on steam from me for 5€
Dieses Strafverfahren wurde eingeleitet durch den Kommandanten Lachschnecke. Leider musste die Verfolgung aufgegeben werden, da alle anderen zu behindert waren.
Now look at the total clusterfuck german has for articles, combined with the fact that it has genders for inanimate objects which complicates language for zero benefit, and you'll see why German is a shitfest.
>Why does Sup Forums have the lowest IQ posters of all boards?
diversity quotes
It spelled arbitrary you fucking cunt
You do realize that languages develop over time? People didn't just suddenly start using Latin words as origin 50, 100 or 1000 years ago. It's a natural process of many centuries and probably even Latin has many loanwords from Greek and other older languages.
>ambulance
>hospital
>arbitrary
Hospital stems from the same root as hospice/hospitable/hospitality, which perfectly describes the sort of setting that a hospital is supposed to be.
Ambulance stems from the same root as ambulatory and amble. As in something that can walk or travel.
Is it still not in use? Insane that a multi-million euro facility is just sitting there doing nothing.
With regard to English vs Deutsch. I have only one thing to say: der, die das. *drop mic*
>Why use the latin word instead of the more logical germanic word?
>Why say hospital instead of uttering his name and accidentally summoning krankenhaus the devourer from hell?
>Why say ambulance instead of casting krankenwagen and blowing up the street with satanic force?
>Why say butterfly instead of gurgling out the string of sounds that is schmetterling and cursing the nearest innocent to bleed through his pores until dead?
WW2
I am strangely proud to speak this language even though the bastards ruled us for 200 years. Very weird feeling.
>:)
I hate the fucking internet and Germans do this shit all the time. Why I spend all my time on Sup Forums.
The languages are incredibly similar, in fact English was originally a dialect in modern day Germany around Bavaria, even after mixing heavily with French and developing independently on an island for hundreds of years the similarities are striking
Because it borrows a lot of words from French, and French is the superior language
English is the World language
You go to Germany many people will speak English. Signs will be in German and English
Go to Austria signs will be in English
Go to the UK signs will be in Urdu and Arabic, but even they will speak broken English
okay I raise the bets and give you a new sentence.
This time 10€ on everything you want when you can speak the following sentence.
Als ich umstürzte fiel ich präzise auf einen Stein. Der Schmerz war unbeschreiblich, er ging durch Rücken und Mark.
What's your case, German uses compound words exclusively and is therefore better? That isn't so
English doesn't use compound words as frequently and isn't a better language?
Next time, it'll be roving flocks of cassowaries.
They have words for fucking everything.
Where English may have to use 3 or 4 words to say something, German can just use a single word. Granted, it's like 37 letters long, but it's still a single word.
I tried my best, please don't laugh at me
Barbarians speaking runic gibberish.
Who gives a fuck.
DÜ HAST
preddy gud. what do you want for 5€ on steam? you even went easily through the lachschnecke trap.
Just wait until the rapefugees and dindus get ahold of that language...they will ebonics dat shiet.
What's your steam profile I'll add you
German is a very literal language. Not to jerk my own cock but, English is more sophisticated. Wide array of vocabulary and grammatical formality. Only language that matters.
Oh god, please no
I know I'm probably one of the only people who thinks it, but I love the way German sounds
i've an old profile with an email account and my names is too common to find me. either you show me your name or it's not going to work
>the European equivalent of Arabic sounds
>sounding good
>sick car
>sick house
>fire defence car
Is this a language for children? What the fuck ahaahahahaha
I like it, but honestly languages like Norwegian and Russian sound better.
Yeah, it's not my favorite but I do like it
less sand niggers
I see Insurgency is on sale so that'll make a fine gift :3
Backpfeifengesicht
Plumpskloinder
is poo in loo
Also Finnish sounds fun in a goofy way. Gaelic sounds cool when a rugged man in a kilt speaks it, but women speaking it sound meh. Also, it triggers me when I see Irish people wearing kilts. Did kilts originate in Pictish people? Why is it a Scottish thing?
>27.3 hours last 2 weeks
Wew, might be time to cut back a bit
give me a minute I'm on shit internet. I swear I deliver.
>not knowing latin roots
/thread
Yeah, damn. Hard to stop my addiction to games.
In Murica we need a language that fits with our measurement system.
12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 7 yards to a jig, 4 jigs to a chain, 18 chains to hill. I don't get it.
Why can't we just use a base 10 system?
>takes deep breath
"Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft"
Would love to hear how you'd say a Norwegian sentence.
What's the german slur for closet gay?
It was something like tomato Andy.
It's not arbitrary, it's french.
> Australian shitposter BTFO.
steamcommunity.com
just add me otherwise it's not going to work
>take word from another language that has no meaning in the new lamguage
>vs
>make word out of words people already know
Norman invasions was the worst thing that ever happened. Words were fine before this needlessly complicated French bullshit. Why is the word levitate a thing? Why not just "float?"
True, this is why you guys all should be speaking Canadian instead
I think he suggested starting to use "sickvan" or "sickhouse" instead of alien German words.
I see a sea that dyes my die red as I read about the dying red sea in a book about crooked crooks.
Ambulance is related to the word ambulation
Hospital is related to the latin word hospes and is also related to the word hospitality.
English is the most complex but also the most versatile language.
Old English was actually very similar to the Germanic languages of it's time. After the assimilation of the celtic britons is when the downfall began.
>introduction of britonnic grammar to english
>invasion of england by vikings causing introduction to norse language
>invasion of england by normans of normandy causing introduction of french language
>pretentious literature of the late renaissance period causing the introduction of latin vocabulary
The result is a heavily bastardized language that belongs to a language group of its own and cannot be even partially understood by any other language speaker.
The benefit however is the versatility of speech that no other language has. In fact, the only other major language that can meaningfully utilize a thesaurus is Japanese.
Wait, other languages don't have thesaurus'? Kek what fucking losers
Also I overturned precisely of a fell stone. The pain was indescribable, he went back and marrow.
Close enough, Jerry?
because you can't levitate in water but you can float in water
I forgot to add. The original English word for hospital before the 1500s WAS "sickhouse". The adoption of latin words as an indication of intellectualism in the 1500s changed the vocabulary of modern English drastically.
Wow, really makes you think
Haha this made me laugh, thank you hilarious Englandbro.
You have the benefit of two English speaking countries interacting with you on the regular. How is it you don't know where ambulance or hospital come from?
on vocaroo
german is a ugly language, its hard and sounds edgy (edgy as in has edges) also the grammar rules regard der die das (the) make zero sense.
>Arbitrary
Like all good things, they come from French.
etymonline.com
It comes from the French "ambuler" or "to walk". Considering ambulances originated as mobile transportation to field hospitals, this makes perfect sense. Speaking of hospitals...
etymonline.com
It has a perfectly logical etymology that stems from Latin.
Don't blame the French for the Germans being so incapable of civilized dialogue that they need to stick simple words together.
Did the Germans just get #REKT or #BOOBOOUCHIESFROMTHEMOUTHTOTHEHEART?
>have gendered nouns
>arbitrarily assign genders
>just have to remember them all somehow
Ambulance
(Imbued) (Lance)
Because British Emprie won the world war twice
