Because you're a pleb

Because it's difficult to imagine something that doesn't exist. It's like trying to imagine a new color

what about the amplified sound of a turnip being crushed?

what about putting a microphone in your eyeball and looking at strobe lights and recording the dilation of your pupils

Don't have to make something completely new, you can try to progress or innovate.

Same thing for movies, everything has already been done thats why they keep hashing out remakes. This is a shit time to be alive. Nothing is new and exciting.

Because it has.
Nothing new has been done since the 50's.

yeah or what about a death grips song that doesn't suck?

because at this point even if something new is attempted people will just find some song out there that sounds similar and preceded it.

OP here

Why doesn't God release a new sound pack for us or something? I'd even pay for it DLC style. Life is boring bros. I need new soundz.

get a pneumatic press that doesn't make too much noise and crush a turnip with contact mics laying down next to it
maybe you don't even need a press, just a solid floor and something a chunk of shatterproof glass

I've listened to contact mics in a melting block of ice, I've listened to wood burning under water. if you can amplified turnips being crushed and make a lowercase album out of it call it something like "forms of salad"

because music """critics""" (including posters on Sup Forums) use nothing but comparison as their metric of critique instead of something like theory or anything less relative than saying 6.0 derivative of pavement

Comparison is the best way to describe sound, though

whats the possibility of a waveform that we don't know about yet existing?

Only Nu-Males who write reviews to look smart and impress people with their taste in music believe this

music is an infinite fractal

Give me a single review that doesn't do this that's better than another one that does

Because it has. Btw congrats on finally becoming an adult.

High. Waveforms that we can perceive are virtually infinite to people

dis

autism

how do we discover/create them?

Case in point - this performance is from 57 years ago:

Use whatever tools you have or can create to make them. Computer-generated synthesis is a great start. Record yourself making some noise, then process it through layering, granualrization, time shifting, whatever. Any noises that you make won't be identical to noises anyone else has made

There's probably new stuff that can be created. If I take the range of human hearing, and multiply that time say, a track length of 3 minutes, you can get quite a lot.
Of course, listening to 1 second sound waves for three minutes in a random order doesn't technically count as a song, but it is a sound. Music is gay and theoretical and shit.

I don't think that this is true. Most of the music being made today is almost completely obscure. Therefore it is logical to assume that most of the original music, most of the bad music, most of the good music, most of the any kind of music, would be obscure. It doesn't help that there are lots of artists and labels viciously whoring out their music through privileged advertising and other means. It also seems likely that plenty of good/original artists are not really capable of or interested in participating in the grotesque world of the music industry. It is also likely that most people simply aren't interested in hearing original music, thus making it even harder for original music to attain any level of popularity. This might not even be a bad thing. Maybe the wider world doesn't need original, high quality music right now. Maybe it would even be a bad thing on some level.

All that being said, I think that there is actually a lot of originality in popular hip hop music right now and a bit of it in popular rock music.

i feel like if i did that though i would just get white noise wave forms and it wouldnt sound "clear".

Is that a bad thing?

Nah, you definitely wouldn't unless you were trying to get white noise

The problem with music is it's just sound. And sound is just vibrations traveling through material. Now think about this: in a vacuum, like in space, vibrations cannot travel. Hence there is no sound in space (you may have already learned this). And yet empty space makes up the majority of spacetime, and the majority of volume (99.9% of your body is just emptiness, vast swaths of nothing in between atoms and their electrons). All that empty space, and no sound, thus no music. There's no point if you think about it - that's why I no longer listen to music at all. Sometimes I think I'm deaf, but I'm really not.

white noise is all that'll be left. the sound of the sea, the universe, radiation

Give it a try. I guarantee you won't make white noise unless that's your goal

play a record...

he really is an inspiration when you think you've run out of ideas
i think all of performance art is under explored

Why does it feel like some posters come here with an agenda?

Because being an OP requires it.

do you believe the children are the future?

Some of this gave me actual shivers of enjoyment

I feel like a plen

Because you haven't listened to enough music.
