Fuck off with this bullshit. This is just unfair, I don't believe in religious fairytales. Now I realize that the whole universe and the life itself are completely pointless. But I will continue to move on, just to prove that if god exists then he is a massive faggot I have ever known.
I died and was revived by a paramedic with defibrillators.
Nothing. You see a sorta-blackness appearing out of nowhere, with little organic windows/holes that let you see the last things happening in the world around you, and they have greenish edges.
Then there's nothing. No transition, just one moment you're there and the next moment you're not. Like going asleep, except much more sudden.

not really. if humans can create advanced robots with artificial intelligence, these robots could travel space with our dna, find a suitable planet, and re-create humans from the dna on the planet. We can survive.

We don't know, user. Research Near Death Experiences and any studies being done on it, like AWARE. Apparently they didn't get a hit, but the main researcher said the data was optimistic; he needs to tweak the experiment.

If it was long enough, he died. NDEs come in many types, from lucid to oblivion. Maybe it's the soul being stuck in a corpse, maybe it's a surge of chemicals in the brain, we don't know.

You are confusing physical death with spiritual death. You died in the medical sense of not having any vital signs but your soul hadn't yet left your body. When you die for real your soul is either annihilated(basically feels like it did before you were born meme) or redeemed and sent to heaven (if you accepted Christ)

It means that what the study was for, it's goal, was not reached. They would have an item on a machine high up in a room where they work on people dying, and the point of it was if someone survived AND had a NDE, to see if they noticed the object and correctly identified it. Well, that didn't happen, but there was accurate descriptions of what was going on in the room, things they should not have seen or heard, and I think one described what was happening in a hall, but it's been a long time since I looked it all up.
Basically, it gave the researcher data on what supposedly happens or could happen, and can use that in a future study, such as having multiple objects in case the person is not focusing on that particular spot where the target is.
I don't know where this will lead science, if it will be right or wrong, but it's curious.

Nihilism is for faggots. Life isn't pointless, and being fearful of the prospect of death is borderline unnatural. Something may happen after you die, something may not. It doesn't matter though. Advance humanity forward to the best of your ability. The advancements you make may be almost negligible or they may be monumental achievements. Regardless, that's life's purpose. To make humanity as great as it can possibly be, no matter how hopeless that endeavor may seem. If you need some encouragement, read up on how many struggles our ancestors have overcome before today. And remember: Nihilism is the ultimate blue pill. There is nothing more indulged in faggot, hippy dippy, nonsense than simply declaring that "life has no value man". Your ancestors would spit on you if they could.

Dwelling on it does nothing for you. If you're worried about afterlife punishment, become religious. Worse case scenario if you're wrong is you possibly become a better person and maybe lose a bit of time to worship.
If there is instead a void that awaits all, you change nothing by thinking about it constantly.
Maybe we'll get lucky, and cheap clone bodies will be available to transfer our brains into within our lifetime. At least then we could hold off death a bit longer until brain deterioration causes us not to care anymore.
The brain cells were intact enough to work again, so decay had not gotten to the point where he was unrecoverable. If one believes in an afterlife, the soul may stick around until there truly is no host for it.

Non-existence / unconsciousness is an inconceivable state. Your life is not objectively an unbroken stream of consciousness, but from your perspective it always will be because unconsciousness is unconsciousness of the passage of time.
You might find the ideas in Permutation City interesting.
Death awareness is a mindfuck. (But as far as mindfucks go it is quite mundane and there are far more disturbing ideas you might encounter if you have a fetish for that kind of thing and keep peeking behind appearances.) It doesn't have to suck entirely though, especially if you confront it when you're young, and not on your deathbed. Your reaction against it can profoundly affect your life.
“The irony of man's condition is that the deepest need is to be free of the anxiety of death and annihilation; but it is life itself which awakens it, and so we must shrink from being fully alive.” ― Ernest Becker, The Denial of Death

>Prior to the invention of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, epinephrine injection, and other treatments in the 20th century, the absence of blood circulation (and vital functions related to blood circulation) was historically considered the official definition of death. With the advent of these strategies, cardiac arrest came to be called clinical death rather than simply death, to reflect the possibility of post-arrest resuscitation.

Your heart is stopped, there's no blood flow into your brain. You look down and see them, see yourself. See the machines around you. I understand as a Swede you have nothing to live for and probably long for eternal blackness, but it's a very curious phenomenon that could open up interesting paths in biological science.
Jordan Morales

also, life (without God) isn't pointless. it would be closer to the truth to say it is pointlessless. there is no lack of meaning. to perceive a lack of meaning is a projection of your need for meaning and inability to create or accept it.

That's a very comforting lie. I was never very religious to begin with, though. Assuming the bible is right, I would've been sent to sheoul anyway, for my sins to be cleansed.
I can understand poetics, but the bible doesn't give me many clear answers to the questions I often find myself asking. I can understand why so many people believe in the faith, though. I think you're right. I've already said this, it's not that different from falling asleep. In fact the only way you can tell a difference(for the way I "died"/almost died) is that you don't get enough time to think about what's happening, it just does, whereas when you fall asleep you know what's going to happen and it's peaceful. You expect it.
Jason Green
It's probably the shock that triggers it. Maybe do some research on how it is harvested from plants and it should give some clues.

I think that the big bang was caused by an old universe dying out. Scientists theorize that one day the universe will totally die out, that all things will cease to exist until we reach the point where the tiniest atoms are all that remains in space, but my theory hinges on The Law of Conservation of Energy. If all things simple cease to exist, what happens to the energy? I believe that it condenses down and eventually will form a "big bang", recreating life and existence from its basic building blocks. After you die you'll simply cease to exist, but we know nothing about what actually causes a being to live. Something must drive even the tiniest cell to exist, but we don't know what and I believe that that thing will exist in the next big bang too. So you might come back as a squid or something, but not for any kind of religious reason. Just because your little bit of space juice got squirted into the ocean of some new planet.

if we're assuming that the soul is something incredibly small and tangible I see no reason why it couldn't be recreated in a large burst of energy. Like a sperm cell?

The material is born and dies. Everything. But, I think souls and more etherial things go on, because they aren't "born" in the same sense as the material; think of it as descending in the material, and inhabiting the material upon birth, and releasing and ascending upon death or destruction. That soul bit is your conciousness, and it has a limited scope within your body, but is more focused. When dead, your awareness increases, but your focus less so.
But, this is all me talking out of my ass.
