stoner metal is (trad) doom metal with a bit more psych rock influences and mostly a shit ton of effects. It's basically the shoegaze of metal. Also there's the DUDE WEED LMAO aestethic
bands such as: electric wizard, kyuss, sleep, conan...
sludge is (trad) doom mixed with hardcore punk. The singer usually sounds like he's sick/dying and sings about his heroin addiction. It sounds canicular, like you're dying of heat

and yeah the DUDE aestethic isn't present in all stoner bands, but if you see an album with a weed leaf on the cover you can safely assume that it's gonna be stoner
