They're very mellow affairs, people generally stand around and respect each other's space and are polite and sit there in introverted bubbles and get lost in the music.
My only warning is that it might be louder than you are accustomed to depending on your experiences
Oh, I know earplugs are usually a good idea, especially in smaller venues.
make sure you get plugs that don't fuck up the sound though ;)
