The trick is to have an open mind and do more listening than speaking. I volunteer at a homeless for trans youth (I think gender dysphoria is a mental illness, but still know that these people face enormous discrimination and need our love and support) and often interact with social justice types. You'd be surprised how many people have never interacted with a conservative in a positive manner and have their views entirely shaped by the media. I think this sort of mass-dehumanization is the source of a lot of problems on both ends of the political spectrum.
Cities require skilled workers, which requires education. No: you will never find a conservative city in the USA. There are conservatives in cities, but they tend to work at gas stations, being general unfit for anything else.
