It is an incredible song
>It's not the side effects of the COCAYNE
It's my favorite song of all time so yea
idk but it was like a bridge between the glam and psych and prog of the early 70's to the punk, electronic and new wave of the late 70's and 80s stylistically. Its like a ballad of pop music's existential crisis at the time
THE EUROPEAN CANON IS HERE
Yes
The album in general is god tier. Like every song is a stand out and perfect.
>I think that it must be love
ONCE THERE WERE MOUNTAINS ON MOUNTAINS ON
once there were sun birds to sore with
The patrician Bowie trilogy is Station to Station through Heroes
See I think the only bad album he did from the 1969-80 run was Pin Ups. I like the debut and some of Let's Dance and Tonight, but the worst album is Never Let Me Down. Like he fucking did better versions ofthe songs on the live DVD/CD from the tour for the album. Why not pull a Roxy & Elsewhere and put new songs on the live album, and save us from the horrid NLED.
I've tried to like that song but it really just does absolutely nothing for me.
Thoughts on new mixes
so far I've heard front to back
>Low\
>"Heroes"
>Lodger (2017)
and some of my favorite songs off
>Stage
>Lodger
>Scary Monsters
>Re:call 3
So far I'm digging what I'm hearing, esp the original mix of Stage and Lodger 2017. But what's your take Sup Forums
It's the most metal song I've ever heard. It's heavy and epic without being over the top.
I'm excited for the new Lodger remix, since It always sounded like demos to me, but I'm sort of terrified of the other remasters.
On a random note, how can I add albums to the Sup Forums pastebin? Bowie is missing nearly all of his live albums.
they all sound muffled and flat to me, much prefer the originals/earlier remasters
His live albums aren't really top tier, though I really want to get my hands on a link of Liveandwell.com and that Serious Moonlight EP. It's driving me crazy those are the only two that aren't in my RYM profile.
Also while I dig the demo and sort of raw feel of Lodger, it's nice to hear it a lot fuller. Plus you hear like the guitar way more in Boys Keep Swingin and other songs sound fuller.
I never like the, mix from the CD of "Heroes" (I later picked up a copy from Zeit! box set, but I'm pretty sure that's that 99 CD verison). I am digging this version a lot more for that
Low is good regardless, I don't know if I perfer this to the CD I have, but it's Low so unless your shit it'd be hard to completely ruin that album for me.
and I already said how I feel about Lodger.
Though I'm digging the songs from the original Stage to my 2005 mix. But I also perfered the WCIBN mixes from the original David Live to my 2005 CD.
Word in a Wing is his best song and one of the greatest songs of alltime
Yes, but the even more patrician choice would just be Station to Station through Scary Monsters
no that's Starless (if we're talking more old school rock), although I'd say the pinnacle was reached in prog metal
no, THE station is the epitome of rock music
youtube.com
Thunder Road
untrue
Starless is, much like it's album, a phenomenal feat of Prog. But I prefer Bowie.
Not the epitome, but a testament to its scope and possibilities. One of the all time great rock songs imo.
Space oddity 1979 is way better than the original
It's definitely up there
I haven't heard that one yet on the remaster. But I have heard the Rykodisc version. I perfer the original, but it's all good.
Nassau '76?
WCIBN?
These shouldn't be included in the pastebin?
>pastebin
where is a link to the pastebin I keep hearing about?
The alternative trilogy is Diamond Dogs to Station to Station as a very interesting but visible transition in sound and image. The patrician choice is Diamond Dogs to Scary Monsters.
I enjoyed the albums collected in WCIBN? Because of the through-line of soul and funk influence, though Station to Station through Heroes has more of a narrative arch in terms of his addiction, recovery and rebirth. First lyric in Secret Life of Arabia pulls the three albums together beautifully.
I see what your saying, it's almost as if he retold the story of Ziggy over the course of the albums to follow
Where's the pastebin?
Yeah, that's what I mean. The box set especially, with David Live and Nassau showing the live re-arrangements he did, really strongly displayed his famous chameleon, genre-bending tendencies he's famed for. There was honestly a long time where that era of his work was my absolute favorite. And while I find it difficult to really say Diamond Dogs is his best album musically, it will always have a special place in my heart as my favorite album of his.
Though that's true, and I feel like it's a lot of why people feel Lodger sort of an odd man out, even though it's a perfect close to the Berlin era and a fourth to that series. Station to Station really shows you the start of it, and has the introduction of the longer instrumental sections, electronic sounds, and strong Krautrock influence. Never thought of that with Secret Life, but that's actually brilliant. It definitely works as a close to that line, with Lodger being a sequel in some sense. It's a much more upbeat album with strong forward momentum, which works with the break of the sort of downbeat sections of Low and Heroes, while tying it all back around with Red Money saying that while he's better, he's still the same man and it's all going to be with him.
Dunno, the Trilogy thing is always nice, but Bowie's body of work at the time was personal enough that you can just start at Hunky Dory or further back and run off to Scary Monsters and get a clear through-line.
it bangs. great song writing.
Brilliant analysis
>Should I believe that i've been STRICKEN
>Does my face show some kind of gloah?!
>It's too late to be grateful
It's too late to be late again
It's too late to be hateful
The European cannon is here, yes it's here
Oy Vey
actually wanna know something funny, did you know "Kether to Malkuth" is actually the top to the bottom of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.
Oh, it goes deeper than that. Much deeper. Bowie was all about that at the time.
No I know, acutally there's a great blog where he points a lot of the stuff out.
Love the but that goes Dun dun dur dadadun dur dadadun dur dineninena dineninena danun
was the actress actually 16 in this movie?
It's good.
But Wild is the Wind is better. And Word on a Wing reminds me of a 90s Disney Movie.
...
No your thinking of when it goes durrrrrer dunnnn dunnn draaaaaa durrr
Idk
When I saw the thread I had to listen to the album again. Def bowie's masterpiece, probably one of the best songs ever written.
I know I just listed again last night. It's so fucking good. For 6 songs and coked out of his mind. The variety ad quality is unheard of
I remember reading that he was on so much coke not only does he have no recollection of making that album, but he barely remembers 1975 at all.
whoops, *1976
have you guys seen this video?

>And while I find it difficult to really say Diamond Dogs is his best album musically, it will always have a special place in my heart as my favorite album of his.
It's a crime that the alternative theatrical version of Candidate was dropped from the final album.
Teenage Wildlife is better
Nice videos
Diamond Dogs is in my top 3 favorites of his.
Low is my favorite just because I really love how strange it can get and all the ambient music on the second half.
>Low is my favorite just because I really love how strange it can get and all the ambient music on the second half.
you should listen to the Low and Heroes symphony by Philip Glass
All of Bowie's 10 minute songs are fucking amazing. Station to Station, Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing Reprise, Blackstar
None of them ever get old or drag on
he died to me when he campaigned for hillary
I havent seen the video but I've heard the bootleg, it's pretty good desu for a rehearsal
wait, that actually happened? Also I love Bruce, but doesn't there come a point when your so far removed from being working class where you no longer relate?
thank you my dude
No, this is.
