All the cast and Ness etc., are really hopeful of a Series 2. It might get one at a push, but it'll then be swept under the carpet.
BBC3 only has the budget for one original drama per year, so I can't see them wanting to splash out again and again on what looks set to be a cliche-riddled Buffy wannabe with bland characters and old hat sci-fi and YA tropes. Just think, all the stuff BBC3 could've gone for, and they went for this. What a waste.

The show was doing fine until last year. Shit, even with the ratings taking a dive last year it remains one of the highest rated programmes.
I like Capaldi personally but I think that while he has generally been accepted he hasn't excited the viewership so the show isn't as popular as when Tennant and Smith were the Doctor. Also it's important to remember that for the average viewer who doesn't bother with Classic Who it's now a 10 year old show now and a bit old hat. IMO the only thing that could get it back to previous heights of popularity is a combination of an actual new approach (not just lip service claiming it's "fresh" and doing the same old things) and an attractive and likeable new Doctor, cause let's face it, another sexy young Doctor would bring in more people.
