It's not about how well they're treated, it's about them not having freedom. That's the whole fucking point and Sup Forums always missed it. Your prison cell could be a million dollar mansion with all of the best stuff in the world inside it, but if you're never allowed to leave it you're still a prisoner. That's the whole idea, that the bird trapped in a cage will always want to break free even if the cage is a much safer and nice environment than the outside world. And that under no circumstances do you have the right to hold another human being somewhere against their will. No, it doesn't make much sense for any of the wives to want to leave their paradise behind and almost assuredly quickly meet their deaths out in the wasteland, but the point is that they should have the right to make that decision for themselves. They're not children, if they want to make a bad decision that will cost them their lives you have no right to stop them.
Also the wives never intend to get anyone killed, if Immortan Joe didn't chase them after they escaped then no one would have died. Joe instigated the conflict by keeping them prisoner and then hunting them down after they escaped. All they wanted to do was be left alone.

FYI remember that Immortan Joe kept them for breeding in an enclosed environment with fresh clean air and water because they were the healthiest, disease, cancer, and mutation free women hes ever found in the wasteland.
He was literally attemping to save the human race by breeding the healthiest females he could find, after a nuclear apocolypse that left most of mankind suffering with horrible cancers, disease and starvation.
He even had teachers come in and teach the girls how to read, write, and play music.
He was the hero mankind deserved, but went about it the wrong way.
I found it quite boring. For a movie that was praised for its setpieces, pretty much every action sequence was just cars driving in a straight line in a desert. Hollywood has gone so nuts with special effects, that all you have to do, apparently, is string some real shit together as lazily as possibly and people loose their shit over it.
HATE THIS MOVIE, just watch a classic like "The Road Warrior" instead of this spastic flame belching monstrosity.

Thats why i said he went about it all the wrong way.
Joe himself was fucked over by cancers, and other possible comic booky mutations that fucked up his genes. But he wanted his own blood to be passed on, so instead of gathering other healthy males he used himself. Its why all his kids so far were fucked up mutant ,idgets, or had breathing problems like the huge dude that needed the oxygen tank. Its why the one healthy kid that died was such a big deal. That kids was supposed to be Joes first step towards a "healthy" society free of mutations and disease.
Joe was stubborn and greedy, and its what fucked him over.
It would have been pretty funny if Fury Road was about Max coming across a polite upstanding society that only allows in disease free humans, and all the irradiated mutants just hang around outside begging for food.
