I for one enjoy emotional singers the most, regardless of their voice. People like Sinatra, Adele, Mercury etc are amazing in their technical ability, and very pleasant to listen to, but I have a harder time enjoying their music because I don't feel like they are as involved as someone like Cohen in the music. I think it was David Byrne who said that the better someone's singing voice, the harder it is to believe what they're saying, and that rings true for me.

Also, there's a difference between being a good singer, and having a good voice. Dylan has an average voice, but he's an amazing singer.

Sinatra actually has emotional range. He just don't do it very often.
