It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Why is guts using a shield? Doesn't that seem odd? It shouldn't be odd, as he can swing his sword one handed. But I've never seen him use a shield.

it's obviously an easter egg that's got the crest from the shield in the zelda games
i really love the art in berserk but honestly this has got to be the most confusing comic format possible where sometimes when you read comics you're kind of guessing which panel is the right order sometimes in this one it's like they just mashed the whole thing together and then tried to remember adding in some captions/dialog after they finished drawing it

lol that's backwards comics are usually top left to bottom right. sometimes it gets a bit mixed up about if you go left down then top right down or a bit in between but beserk can just get panels popping up everywhere so I find it a bit difficult to follow once in a while

I typically don't read manga berserk is practically the only one when it pops up on these threads. Never heard of any languages going from right to left except for satanic stuff.

Got too involved. Realized I wasn't a good person. Decided to stop having friends. Going to move away from my mother. Simple. Now I'm struggling with the bigger issue that I'm probably going to be lonely. And it's going to be hard. But if it means protecting the people I love then it's not a bad thing.

Well, Hebrew and Arabic are read right to left, so yeah, Satanic stuff is right.
Did your friends tell you directly?
I have the same problem with that, and in my experience, it takes a lot to push a friend away. A lot of the time you just over-exaggerate and think they hate you/don't want you around.
Talk to them honestly and try and figure out how they really feel before you do anything drastic.

That's my issue. I got too comfortable with them. I used them as emotional crutches which did nothing for anyone. I repeatedly lied to them that I was getting better.
When one finally said "fuck it, I don't care" I realized I pushed too far. She was trying to help and I was just being a defiant little dickbag It may not be direct, but I can take a hint.
The other is the best person I know. He's always been there for me. He knows exactly what I need but I just don't have the will power to do it. It finally came to the point where I started thinking he was dissapointed in me. So I thought leaving would be best.

I think there's a line between an emotional support, which is part of friendship, and an emotional crutch, which is too far.
Best thing for you would be to tone things down, rely on other people less and work on fixing things yourself. It's still fine to talk to other people about it, but that shouldn't be most of what you talk about.
I think you're other friend would rather see you get better on your own power than to see you go away.
