How would you rebut this?

If you're having a debate with someone, and they hit you with this picture, what would you say?

the fuck does that even mean

>9fag

>9gag

Relly makes you think huh....

when the "truth" goes into the orange "true" then it isnt flat

what this picture means i have no idea

This is just false equivalency.

I don't usually talk about geometry

yep

That implies there is some sort of Golden mean... I think.

If the truth is a cylinder then the square hole can never be compatible with the truth.

I think it's trying to make a statement about the "whole truth" being complex but it can be interpreted many different ways.

Really makes you think huh?

When I opened kikebook, this was the image that greeted me.

I knew there was something wrong with it, just couldn't quite say what.

Went to the comments section to see any constructive thought, but it was full of normies, so I came here.

Analogies are dialectics and dialectics is the sophists art of cheating. The shadows are not the truth, as they are incomplete.

God is the light of truth - not the "shadow of "truth"".

A common way for this fallacy to be perpetuated is one shared trait between two subjects is assumed to show equivalence, especially in order of magnitude, when equivalence is not necessarily the logical result. False equivalence is a common result when an anecdotal similarity is pointed out as equal, but the claim of equivalence doesn't bear because the similarity is based on oversimplification or ignorance of additional factors. The pattern of the fallacy is often as such: "If A is the set of c and d, and B is the set of d and e, then since they both contain d, A and B are equal". d is not required to exist in both sets; only a passing similarity is required to cause this fallacy to be able to be used.

A fucking disproportionate picture of an assumed light display has fucking nothing to do with argumentative advantages.

>9gag

Nobody's stupid enough to actually present that to you, right?

This.

>Objects cast different shaped shadows depending on the direction of light

Wow, really makes ya think....

You ever go to the movies and there's that cool logo animation where the light shines on some ugly block and the shadows make C and E depending on where it was shone from? It's like that.

The orange light shines on the side of the cylinder, which makes a rectangular shadow on the wall. The blue light shines on the top of the cylinder, which makes a circular shadow on the wall. What it's trying to say is that the cylinder makes both circular and rectangular shapes, and while those shapes may be inherently different, they stem form the same thing--a cylinder. Basically, there's more to the truth than what you think you see, and you have to pay more attention to the information given to you if you want the whole picture.

At least that's what I got out of it.

Wowwwwww really,........makes you thin.....k wow www...wwwwwwe
Hmmmmmmmm looks like I'm a
#cruzlintoris now

If a leftist is attempting to argue that two different orientations of the same fact can both be true, then why is the liberal always so completely unwilling to accept any view but their own as the correct one?

This is utterly self-defeating of an argument.

Thanks!

You may never know.

It's Plato's Allegory of the Cave just explained slightly differently.

The world is not black and white and not everything is objective (See: Morality). What is truth to one can easily be untruth to another. To a black kid growing up and seeing mostly white people in charge and being successful, they'd gain the belief that white people ruined everything and are the cause of their poor state (even though white people are the majority in his nation). To a white kid growing up in this country nowadays he'd only see people attacking those that look like him and calling them monsters and think the real racists.

Neither is a false conclusion. The truth lies where both perspectives can come to an understanding. And even then, it might not be objective truth.

...

Fine, what's the Hegelian synthesis you're trying to get at?

*and think that they're the real racists.

You tell them not to change the subject.

thread/

Oh my, someone actually made a literal representation of "there is always more than one side to the story", this is when you red pill them on the holocaust.

>If you're having a debate with someone, and they hit you with this picture, what would you say?

Pic related

It's cause you're a retard.

>9gag
>le really makes you think XD

not an argument :^)

Sapir-Whorf is not license for confection.

The "truth" has nothing to do with perception. There is reality, and there are more or less accurate perceptions of reality.

The example you mentioned doesn't even offer two conflicting opinions. One is about one boy's perception of leaders and the other is about a boy's perception of his attackers.

Now if white boy billy says Obama is part black, and niggers ruin everything and everything is niggers fault, but little jamal says obama is part white and the white man ruins everything, then you've got conflicting "truths"

Jesus fuck. It just says there are different perspectives you get from different points of view, but to get the whole picture you need a higher perspective and integrate seemingly opposing views in such a way that they fit together.

>left, all black people didn't do nothing
>right all black people are niggers
>higher perspective, some black people are nice but there are also niggers

>9gag

It's not an arguement

Hit them with a Mollymeme

am i stupid for not getting this?

The shape should be a triangle.

Yes

...

can u please explain it to me so i dont be retarded no more :*(

Depends on what they are arguing about.

Multiple truths does not necessarily mean your way is right.

It can easily mean you're wrong in more ways than one.

w..what how..what part would produce a triangle..

They're showing us a pictorial representation of their cognitive dissonance.

Would call them a low information retard and drop the conversation desu fampai.

If you had a pyramid you would see a rectangle and a triangle, which would be both false.

That when truth is a ball, your argument is invalid. Your only chance in trying to win this debate is to forcefully portray truth as an object that casts different shadows.

Change the words over the shadows to "what the liberal left says on CNN" and "what the liberal right says on Fox"

>The truth is subjective
They arnt very confident in their argument are they? I guess I am right.

...

The cylinder is the truth, the rectangle and the circle are both cherrypicked arguments from the same truth by looking at it from a different angle to get the angle you want that agrees with your opinion.

That image is also impossible because light doesn't work like a Photoshop spray paint job

This, all this image is trying to do is get people to concede to "some" of there "truth"
God doesn't not deal with half truths. That's Satans job, mixing truth with lies.

Fresh OC that really makes you think

...

>There is reality, and there are more or less accurate perceptions of reality.

Prove it.

What makes you think it's light?

It means Orange Hillary is a fucking square. What do you think it means?

Nice

This image is saying that multiple facts that are mutually exclusive can lead you to make a single logical conclusion.

E.g.:
>x + y = 5
>x - y = 0

Both statements are true and non-contradictory, meaning
>THE TRUTH
is
>x = y = 2.5

>relativist scum
no thanks, your picture is neat art (minus the shitty text) but not valid point. There is often small amounts of truth to each viewpoint (what gives them longevity) but one is always absolutely correct

i would start discussing platonic forms with them

...

Id say rotate the rectangle by 90° faggot

...

Don't pretend your side is any better than the other. All are using propaganda, all lie, every article you read about Ukraine is propaganda from one of the sides don't delude yourself into thinking otherwise.

Blind men and the elephant

Just because you have fragments of truth doesnt mean you know the whole truth
