I finally got to watch the last jedi and it was honestly just ok. There were so many wasted opportunities. Some characters like Rose were absolutely useless, the casino planet was pointless. Generally the things that most people argued are true. Was it the worst star wars, hell no, but its not the best either, not even close. Things were predictable and boring.

The best part of the movie were Kylo Ren and Reys story, everything else was uninteresting.

You mean BLACKED in space?

not snoke dying like a little bitch?
not Leia flying through space for no reason?

There were hints of leia having the power of the force, but they fucked up the execution so badly. Couldnt she like usr the force to not be blown into space or something rather than flying her ass back from far away or something.

Snoke was so fucking dissapointing, thanks for bringing that up. Honestly that scene was straight out of return of the jedi.

>Things were predictable and boring
i disagree. personally it felt like it was made to be unpredictable, with stupid ass, unforeshadowed twists that basically ruin every turn of events for the viewer
the only thing that was foreshadowed was luke being a hologram, and alas - one of the very few things that I could genuinely enjoy watching because it didnt feel like the plot just lured me in for a idiotic "gotcha" moment again

My one of my biggest issues with the movie is how they made space worthless. Leia was somehow completely immune to the vacuum and the super cool temps and so were the people on the ship when it was cut in half. Everyone involved in those should have died in less than a tenth of a second.

Na, it would take maybe 30s. Space death is overhyped

it had some cool space fights and the throne room fight was cool, the whole gambling planet was boring and you can start to see the Disney influence with the forced diversity.

My Tier list

Empire Strikes Back
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
Force Awakens
Last Jedi
Return of the Jedi
Rogue One
Clone Wars
Phantom Menace

Honestly the movie wasn't that bad, definetly better than all 3 prequels which looking back are real shit plot wise and didn't age well either. The best thing about the movie though we're the effects so I imagine in 10 years this will also look very aged. I just wish thier were big budget movies like this but made for adults. Now a days it's all super heroes and kiddie star wars Disney shit. This is the reason avatar was probably so popular. Epic effects with adult themes and decent story.
Anyways was pretty entertaining for a kids movie.

its not really only about the people that get launched outside of the ship - if the ship has a gaping its basically impossible to create an artificial atmosphere similar to that of a planet

you could draw an analogy to a submarine: if it gets cut in half, MAYBE you could survive the absurd pressure outside from being miles under the water, but whats more important is that the entire submarine is fucking toast
TLJ makes it seem like being inside the part of spaceship that just got torn apart is prettymuch ok except for a couple of flames here and there and the danger of "falling out", this is fucking insulting to any intact brain on multiple levels

The whole fight scene in the shuttle bay was way over done. You had The Hobbit tier fighting with a backdrop which was just everything was on fire. Really poorly dome tbh. Luckily it was mixed in with the throne room scene which was actually very well executed.

The only problem I had was the underuse of characters. Luke was underused for such a classic character. Phasma was completely disregarded even though she is a complete badass. And worst of all was the underuse of snoke, how could they throw away such a powerful and seemingly important character. Lets hope snoke pulls a vitiate and comes back from the dead.

It is science fiction. Get over it you fucking mongrel.

Uhh I was happy to see phasma back only to have to watch her killed off 2min later. And wtf was with zooming in on her eye right before she fell? Was that supposed to mean something?

One of my biggest problems with the movie was how all of the rebels looked. Everyone there looked like they were part of LGBT club on a college campus not out fighting a war. Then there was some shit about winning/surviving with thier feelings. Fucking dumb.

Like half the people were fat. The commander had pink hair wtf

It is not at all a kids movie. Yes there was cheap humour for the kiddies and the whole canto bight thing, but the rest was not at all child like. I would even go as far as saying it is the second darkest star wars film behind revenge of the sith. If you re-watch the film you notice that the losses for the "good guys" are equal to the wins.

rofl nope its fantasy. if it was science-fiction I would feel way more insulted
if spaceships could be open at all points why are airlocks and full closed hulls even a thing? even a fantasy story has to work off its own rules and not just bend and forget about them whenever its convenient

This is true. Also Disney has no idea how to treat a sci-fi movie in the hipster era. Look at the 2000 movie The Last Apprentice with Nicholas Cage. I seem to think this movie and this new Star Wars are similar in their patron complaints.

>triggered

Revenge is that high holly shoit

Really? Barely anyone was fat, there was the same amount of fat people as in the original trilogy. However the pink hair was retarded, although her character wasn't all that bad.

All the star wars movies are kids movies. Revenge of the sith is skirting the edge between pg and pg13.

I wanted a nude scene with her

Revenge of the sith is actually great.

Exactly. SCIENCE fiction. A fictive that while also a fantasy seems physically plausible. That's the appeal. Avatar was a good science fiction because you could see us colonizing a planet in the future and not being able to breathe the air and have culture wars with the natives. Sounds like a modern retelling of the New World conquistadores, does it not? SCUENCE fiction needs plausibility to seperate it from shitty kid superhero fantasy.

Revenge of the memes was r rated cause Anakin penis was seververed on mustafar and was seen buring in the lava. IT was cut...

I didn't have a problem with the hair itself. I hated that charechter because of her full body turtle neck, punchable face, condescending tone and poor leadership.

Yes they are technically kids movies, but their demographic is not really set just for children. Hell a fucking praetorian guard was turned into mincemeat.

I agree with everything you said.

Those do not make her a bad or poorly written character if they were done intentionally.

revenge is great, when was the last time you watched it? it got a lot of prequel hate, but revenge is the only prequel we needed, it explains how palpatoo became the emperor and anakin became darth vader, how Padme died and why Luke and Leia were separated at birth. it also has the most epic force-fight between the emperor and fucking yoda, and thats after the emperor stomps windoo. even the opening was great,oh and dont forget order 66, obi wan vs anakin, etc. etc..
I and II are truly trash, but the third prequel is very good

This. Sci-fi has taken a dump with The Big Bang Theory generation. Anything in it with superheros, technology, or space no matter how retarded is now sci-fi. Asimov would weep if he were alive to see this.

lol Star Wars was ruined in 1997 with the special additions. How nobody saw the oncoming shitstorm with those retarded "enhancements" to a trilogy that needed nothing is beyond me. Disney bought the corpse and has turned it into a money eating zombie.

Why do people beat this dead horse?

Maybe I was remembering wrong but I do remember a lot of the characters not looking like soldiers. They looked like they were in a broadway musical or something.

I know ANAKIN is literally ME

>special additions

Goddamn, boy, you are some kind of stupid.

A movie geared towards adults and teenagers does not need to be R-rated. Are you dense? You can tell a highly nuanced story without a bunch of swears and tits.

On my ranking list I would put the last Jedi higher, it was not nearly as bad as what some people are saying. Yes I hated certain parts, but other mart were great like the throne room scene.

Empire strikes back
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope/The Last Jedi
Rogue One
Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones
Phantom Menace

However Kotor and swtor are better than all the movies IMO.

I love The animated series too!

>highly nuanced story
Lol good one

The Kylo Ren-Rey-Snoke subplot was easily the best part. The throne room scene was pretty fucking awesome.

Kotor better than empire?
Better than Jedi Outcast?
No.

ya this would be higher if it where longer

Too bad snoke was killed.

I've never seen even one Star Wars but you make a compelling point to watch Revenge of the Sith. I have stayed away mainly because of the 'OMG you haven't seen this? What do you live under a rock?' Anything overhyped like that makes me think it's probably shitty. Same with Game Of Thrones.

Only real substance to the movie tbh. The rest was just an excuse for the cool effects.
The whole chase thing was just preposterous and childish.

just to show you theres an actual human in there.

'Cuz Disney

Yes, I would love a movie about Arcann, Thexan, and Vaylin. Also Valkorion/vitiate is my favourite star wars character ever.

The problem is they've strayed away from the simple structure of following a close knit band of heroes and their critical role in a larger effort. We lost the chemistry and drama that was established between Rey, Finn, BB-8, and Kylo. And Phasma. Why the fuck did they magically bring her back from the dead just to kill her off like that?

Yeah, I agree. The relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey was surprisingly subtle and evocative. The rest of the movie was just bloated with too many characters, narratives, and plot twists to the point of fatigue. Most of which just served literally as a useless distraction. It was like a teenager's idea of drama. And that last bit between Rose and Finn was pure fucking garbage. I almost couldn't believe they actually put that in the movie.

I always though rey and fin were going to get together but now they threw in some chubby asian for the black guy. Dunno, will the third movie be called rise of the harem?

This is a literal non-argument.

>it's okay to make a shit movie if it's intended for kids

Well, that explains the millennial generation.

This movie had no redeeming qualities.

well to be fair Revenge only makes sense because we've seen how palpatine was before he became the emperor. if you only watch revenge, his "transformation" doesnt really have any impact
its kind of unfortunate and brilliant at the same time that this transformation is spread over 3 movies
throughout I and II you are on his side, you feel that what he does is correct and justified, it may almost go over your head as business as usual. you really do not realize that he is the literal Hitler of star wars all along. the prequels are the emperor's story. Anakin's story is extremely lame

From the trailer I expected Luke to want to end the Jedi for a different reason than he explained. I was hoping that he wanted to kill off the first order, then end the Jedi with himself in order to bring balance to the force. I thought it would have been bad ass to have the last movie end with the death of either Kylo Ten or Rey and the victor embracing neither side of the force, but acting as the perfect master to bring balance to it

I hope Rose dies.

The movie was perfect untill Luke died.

In the end, I thought he was some master genius who fooled Kylo Ren into a fight he could never win. And that Luke would return in the next movie better than ever. Instead he died after winning a fight? Where is the sense in that? Because he was old? Yoda was 900 years old.

lol deconstruction

Post modernists should all be buried alive in the same hole.

Honestly, they aren't even the same species as the rest of us at this point.

Did you just call me a post modernist? Or Luke?

Are you claiming Luke was so old he was near death in this movie? Didnt seem so to me. I think it would be much more respectfull if he was allowed to live untill he was old and die naturally.

The writers you fucking retard.

...

Does she have an admirable penis?

4 Kelvin and vacuum. 30s. Thats... optimistic.

space isn't cold you degenerate retard. there is literally no way for your body to lose heat in space except infrared radiation which is incredibly slow.

Anyone just want bb-8 to die?

Nah, it is secretly palpatines sentient severed dick.

Luke "vanishes" at the end.
> I saw him sneak away like a magician to the right of the screen..
Wtf

Fuck you're thick.

It's a vacuum you fucktard. Earth has atmospheric pressure.
Leia ejects into space (no oxygen and no pressure).. that will fuck you up quicker than you could imagine.

I am literally shaking rn

I didnt like the samurai, or ren being able to sneak on snoke who shouldve felt the forks

Laura fucking Dern thank you very much. And she pulled the best hyperspace move ... ever.

For a moment after that, I thought they went all Firefly (silence ... nearly creamed my pants), but then the explosion sounds happened.

...

>shit plot wise
