What is it like to do an orchestral audition? If I was godlike at tuba, and wanted to join the Vienna Philharmonic, could I just challenge the tuba player there to a tuba battle, or would I have to wait until he quit?

I was fucked by an entire orchestra

sicc bass drones

Why are tuba players so disgusting?

>great fast movements
>boring snore-fest slow movements
>the good slow movements were stolen from Telemann
Seems to be a consistent trend among Bach's violin concertos.

Mozart's flute & harp concerto is underrated.

Yeap, that's basically my face when listening to Vivaldi as well.

Shocked and disgusted?

I was thinking yawning

>>boring snore-fest slow movements
am i a pleb for hating most slow movements? especially from the classical era

How would you even know if those movements were taken from Telemann? You can't even read music.

I'll ignore your sad projection and present exhibit A.

I"m not saying they weren't, I'm just saying there's no reason as to why i should take you seriously.

Op.1 is pretty boring tho I agree

>already proven my point

Wow didn't realize you're this pathetic. Being not taken seriously by you is a relief.

Yeah I'm sure Bach's legacy will take a severe blow from a shitposter in an imageboard primarily used for discussing japanese cartoons who is pointing out something people don't really care about.

Try the slow movements in this.

wtf

the 2nd movement is nearly always the best one. (if it were not for moonlight sonata's filler 2nd movement it would be always)

Only pseuds disrespect the Moonlight sonata.

1st and 3rd movement are amazing.
2nd is literally 2 minutes long and nothing happens

I've never understood how classical music can be funny. Is it something I would have to be experienced in music theory to get?

youtube.com/watch?v=FVfz5YymsXI

Not necessarily. You just need to be paying attention and have an open mind to humor being conveyed in abstract ways (trying to say this as unpretentiously as possible). It's about how the music presents itself.
youtube.com/watch?v=U-zaGM39Cik
Like this is straight up bathroom humor, it's great.

youtube.com/watch?v=6TbzBSrxdcg
This one is a bit more abstract. Again you don't need to be versed in theory to "get" it, just be focused on the sounds entering your ear no different than if someone was telling a story with a joke punchline.

youtube.com/watch?v=cp-efSs9Tb4
Honestly I think this entire movement is goofy and hilarious, especially the coda.

So in this video

and this video

the tuba players have apparently a completely different embouchure. I can do the first one with no effort but I can't do the second one for the life of me. Why are they different? I'm beginning trombone next year with a teacher and I'm trying to learn how to buzz to prepare myself.

Why don't the Russians command very much respect in /classical/?

Because the only Russian composers I know are Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky.

pretty sure rachmaninoff ruined russians for /classical/

is it weird that i know that OPs pic is the young Felix Mendelssohn? i'm pretty fucking sure it is

Prokofiev, Kabalevsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich and Schnittke all turned in their grave

Wtf that's actually pretty nice.

All at once or did you have recovery time?

Are you a flautist by any chance?

may as well share my favorite renditon
youtube.com/watch?v=4JG8KkWhsiY

Terrible. The tempo is limp as fuck and the vibrato ruins the power of the composition. In addition there's little to no ornamentation which just shows how soulless the entire rendition is.
Please reevaluate your life.

Vivaldi makes you put on your blowjob face?

He doesn't do the same to you?

They do. The five greats are very respected as are Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Shostakovich.

god damn weaboos are fucking retarded

we need a way to detect if a post has an anime image attached so that we can automatically filter it and maintain discussions consisting solely of real patricians

fact: most composers would be weeaboos if they were alive today

hmm interesting wow on second thought you're totally right you've really changed my views

i'm going to go write a fugue on themes from k-on now

post it here when you're done

you'll purchase the score legally after it's published just like everyone else jackass

no I'll just wait 70 years after you die and view it legally on IMSLP

fact: most composers would create sick beatz on ableton if they were alive today

my nigga schubert wrote hella bars

So composers would be making nightcore?

If Beethoven were alive today he would be a metalhead. Put this in your sig if you're the 2% of 90s kids who still rock out.

just play 3 chord songs on the guitar

...

What do anglos do when they play a woodwind instrument and they have to fluttertongue? Isn't it impossible for them to make the "RRRRRR" sound with their tongue? What about those people who can't do it? Do they get discriminated against?

>What about those people who can't do it?
they become percussionists

> Isn't it impossible for them to make the "RRRRRR" sound with their tongue?
Are you fucking retarded?

The sound isn't in their language

if you can't flutter tongue, you don't become a flautist. Most anglos can flutter tongue and/or roll their r's

People who speak English often learn other languages or just learn to roll their r's for the hell of it as a kid.

English is mt first language and I could roll my r's since I was a child. Now speaking Russian I can actually use that ability in a language instead of just going "Rrrriiiii" in a Spanish style whenever something Spanish happens

Every englishman I know who've tried to speak norwegian fucks up the r

>recovery
I don't need recovery for a fun time

the best 20th century composers, that's why

>H-have you practiced 40 hours today yet, user xiānshēng?

I don't know if it's just me, but I think obsessing with conductors for recordings is largely useless. The venue, recording technology and microphone placement seem to make a far bigger difference.

Even the triangle player has more impact on the recording than the living metronome

I assume /classical/ rankings are like: 1. Austria - power gap - 2. Germany 3. Russia 4. Italy 5. France 6. Czech Republic 7. Finland 8. Hungary 9. USA 10. Poland 11. UK (or something like that)
