Well, time to pack it up, the thread is dead in arrival
bump
this OP is a retard, /dark/ threads usually don’t last more than 50 posts these days. Why would you exclude two of the countries with the best goth bands. If anything post more North American goth bands. I only know of Lycia I think.
are Ohgr albums worth it? I’ve been blasting a ton of Skinny Puppy they’re one of my fav bands right now.
Is German okay? Can we get some German /dark/ going?

SOBOR EDERNUS is pretty spook
So can Classical, though I should say Romantic in this case.

If Opera can be /dark/, Don Giovanni takes the cake.
What do you call that Yiddish jig halfway into the first song you posted? Any other folk recordings with this type of spook?
I'll leave you all with a taste of avant garde.

ITT we specifically express appreciation to the countries of Finland and Italy for producing GOOD, LISTENABLE dark ritual-ambient music, something that most other countries don't get quite right. For whatever reason, these North and South countries are fucking great at this high-tier music, viz.

Strong honorable mentions go to the equally evil countries of Russia (Vishudha Kali) and Austria (Hitler, Nitsch, Schwarzenegger, Wittgenstein, FRITZL, MICHAEL/ZOE DEWITT:

All other /grimdark/ discussion and metal-y bits and fun industrial discussion also takes place in this ITT thread.
how do you feel about vasilisk?
I don't know of that one. Is that a thing or are you tricking me? Please help me!
shit
initial, unfair, first impression is that it's pretty good but not my fave. I sorta dislike "driving, tribal beat" stuff that sounds well-produced because I construe it as being /inauthentic/, even if that construal is unjustified. I prefer the slower stuff for this type of thing. Vishudha Kali and Halo Manash work for me because their stuff is so laconic and takes its time, for example. Just my two cents, my personal taste.
in fairness that is one of the more driving tracks on the album but I get what you're going for and vasilisk in general may not be your thing.
it's the season for amateur mycology here, on that note:

i know some pan tiamat's later stuff for being too straightforwardly rocky but the middle period is great and pretty /dark/
It hits the right psychedelic middle ground between their doom beginnings and the Sisters thing they ended up with later

Not even British (and of course not American).
The perfect culmination of the German tradition.
