clubs always give up on stars like Falcao

Lack of ability to maintain talent to a decent level

Physicality leads to alot of injuries

I'd say bad managers and bad investments but the latter is a consequence of the first

The EPLEL died when the big 4 split up.

Man city and Spurs are chokers.

Too many fucking foreigners

City lucky they were only exposed by mediocre Monaco. Imagine City vs Juve

shit tier scouting

This

This

Drogba left

Protestant work ethic; instead of rolling over for their superiors like they do in Catholic countries, the bottom half of the EPL adopts shitty, ugly, unappealing tactics that routinely eek out draws and the occasional lucky win against the top sides.

Filling their positions with le pacey uncreative africans

hoofball

Awful transfers, bad tactics, MUH EXCITING HOOFBALL

Wow, is this what goes on in soccerball?

muh passion
muh excitement

it hasnt really decreased in quality, its just other leagues have improved more

kind of a bad sign that the last pl team to reach the cl semis was pellegrini's 4-4-2 fuck defending team

Shit tactics, anyone with a tactical approach more than show up on the day and see how it goes, walks the fucking league

absolute refusal to adapt to modern tactics/general arrogance and thinking physicality and "ambition" is more important than technique and tactical knowledge

Yet >van Gaal didn't manage to do that

His tactic was play like a 1970's English team

Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte refuse to adopt to modern tactics? What?

they are shit because they are trying to cater to the american market. believe me, americans are only capable of enjoying shit.

well the issue is more at the developmental stages. players in England are literally taught less than players in other countries so it's no wonder England don't produce as great of players as the others

Believe he means at the youth level. The English core is mostly garbage.

Arsenal are chokers too.

Is the the shitty fucking soccerball league espn tries to shove down our throats?

Why is that relevant to Manchester City for example? All their players are foreign and they've got "the most tactically astute manager in the world"

Too much money, Not enough patience
Leads to a lot of lower clubs adopting hoofball tactics to try stay in the EPL for a consistent pay day rather than trying to build towards European football.
Big teams have too much money with not enough sense and buy big names instead of building teams that work together.

They're an exception. In their case, they just have a completely shit defense.

yep. the spanish league is a 1000x better with two of the best players in all of football history displaying their quality every week, but espn and nbc want to show you a league full of oil money but no quality.

it's full of english players

its what happens when their top teams try and talk shit that they're the best and all blow the league to leicester.

>barca
>madrid
>not oil money clubs

the rest of yurop has finally understood how much money they have. there is definitely an england surcharge, just look at the teams man u and chelsea had in their cl final - unaffordable nowadays

Boxing day and two cups (with replays)

I'll assume you speaking specifically about the top 6 teams. With the EPL, you:

>have four competitions to play in
>no christmas break
>incompetent boards that don't understand the concept of squad depth

This means:

>more games and more chances to pick up injuries
>fixture congestion that could potentially derail the season
>more games where squad depth is horribly brought to light

Resulting in:

>less chance to do well in any of the four competitions
>less consistency for the top teams, which leads to shock results in the league (thus making the top 6 teams look less strong)

this

They will never rise to any respectable relevancy again. They will never ever win an UCL final, too.

Because they are to "Americanized" for lack of a better word, they have moved past seeing football as a sport but rather present it as entertainment for the masses of the (third) world. When the focus is primarily on entertainment, you cannot compete anymore.

The EPL is all about the flashy and glamorous top clubs who are forced by the system to present a new shining star player every single year and are therefore hard pressed to build up actually functioning teams. There are dozens of players like Pogba but he's got that appeal others don't because somewhere someone decided he does, so Manchester United is forced to purchase him for an inflated price for their circus show instead of building an actual team.

Tottenham is one of the few exceptions to that.

Games are tough in the PL because of the TV deal whereas in e.g. La Liga you can just ease off.

I suppose you can say we're tactically poor but how can the philosopher Pep be accused of being untactical?

Basically this.

They also came up with the whole franchise league board "support the league" shit when nobody anywhere supported a fucking league board, until it massively and hilariously blew the fuck up in their own faces and EPL became a synonime of buffonery.

The still have some of have that homosexual old boys club shit 'you have to adapt to our style of football', 'you have to asskiss the league board', 'you have to rate and worship Arsene and Sir Red Nose Day for their loyalty to the franchise and contributions', and shit like that.

They're stuck and fucked.

The philosophy of Pep succesfully consists of fielding prime Xabi, prime Iniesta and prime Messi.

I don't know what they are selling to you in the english media, but his years in Germany, taking the undoubtedly best team in Europe at the time and leaving it in the state it is atm after 3 years of philosophy should have been a clear indication of Pep's '''magic'''.

EPL is only 33% foreigners which is quite low for such a rich league. La Liga is 44%.

>complains about it being americanized
>gives it an american style name

Why are EPL teams obsessed with black guys that run fast. Sterling is the only standout among many failures and Sterling isnt exactly a football genius.

He tries to adapt too much to English tactics, just like Van Gaal, Klopp and Wenger now, its hard not to succumb to it when you've got a Stoke or a West Brom going hell for leather at ya

I don't think that's true

>EPL is only 33% foreigners

hxxps://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wettbewerbe/europa

Premier League has 66.7% foreign players, none of the other top European leagues even come close except for Italy, which is full of Argentine diasporafags and Balks who have always preferred Italian football.

La Liga actually has less foreign players than France, Germany and Portugal.

m8 the league cup is definitely not the reason PL teams struggle in Europe, no top team gives a shit about it
also no winter break means less fixture congestion as the season progresses and barely affects European competitions since they are not resumed untile February, so it should actually be an advantage

Guess the stats I read were old or wrong.

...

>less than half the players are foreign
>still maintains the best league in the world
How did Spain do it?

good youth academies that actually look to develop players and have them fit into their team. la masia isn't even the best youth team in spain anymore since all the others have followed their model. meanwhile in england they just look for the fastest, strongest, dumbest players they can and then overhype them to hell and back and then stick them in teams run by managers that should be in the championship who just stuck 11 players out there with no real sense, structure, or identity of play

Make Arsenal Great Again.

they're the only reason your league is relevant.

Your league would literally be MLS tier if it was just English people.

they literally value "heart", "character', and "muh physicality" more than any technique or tactical knowledge

Because generally the brand of football in England is fucking basic compared to somewhere like Spain or Italy. England is overly focused on physicality so at youth level prioritise the most athletic kids which at that age tend to be blacks. It's all about hoofball and getting it out to the pacey black kid on the wing to cross into the tall burly centre forward for a header or tap in. Very direct and nowhere near as technical as continental leagues. Someone like Messi could never have develoiped in England and probably would have retired from injuries at 25, or just been ignored at youth level.

Hoofball doesn't win the Champions league.

Thankfully thanks to Klopp, Conte & Guardiola the tactics & formations are changing to be more Euro-friendly and Euro-ffective.

I think over reliance on physicality hinders the level at which english clubs could be playing. They probably have gifted technical players, but think of how many get over looked for being weak/short/not-top lads.

Also, english football is like 10 years behind of tactics, which they used to compensate by being more physically apt, but once the rest of the continent caught up to them, the exposed meme became a norm for these clubs.

> Become the first club to ever win 4 consecutive Bundesliga's
> Concede the least amount of goals ever
> win the league earlier in the year than ever before
> create a team so dominate it basically won't ever lose the league unless half the team is replaced with shit signings & a shit manager
> unfortunately cucked out of the Champions league by excessive injuries and the best player's in the history of the sport

Mate Germans should be sucking Pep's dick for how dominant he transformed Bayern.

This.

> not enough patience
Especially this. English fans should feel ashamed at how they treat the best players & managers, instead of privellaged to allow them to build clubs up to European dominance but don't give them the chance. Such a shame because of the potential to have teams compete with Europe's big teams.

espnfc.us/bayern-munich/story/3118067/pep-guardiola-move-to-consult-bayern-squad-on-tactics-failed--lahm
according to another article I can't find now, 6 players outright refused to even listen to pep's tactics

Top English clubs haven't played hoofball for decades

Fergie was all about pace on the flanks and flair, Wenger fast ball playing possession, Mourinho disciplined counter attacking, Benítez' micromanagement etc. etc.

The struggle in Europe is down to quality of players, both producing and attracting them. It's easy for Bayern, Madrid, Barca, PSG or Milan to hoover up any sign of talent nationwide. Not here

> "After that defeat, it was portrayed like his system didn't work. However, in reality, it really wasn't his system at all."
> According to Lahm, Guardiola learnt his lesson and never chose to consult his players again about tactics. "And he'll probably never do it again,"

At first yeah, it was his first season and them not listening to their coach (ie initial egotism) cost them a massive humiliation.

The season after, they beat Barca 3-2 and only lost the first leg because of a tactical error and Messi brilliance. Last year was bull shit and this year the team was cucked by simple offside goals. Really have to feel sorry for some teams.

This is the 2nd best league in the world.

Prove me wrong

You're right in the way Wenger & Mourinho have changed the teams, but most of them still (United/Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool before Klopp) spend the majority of the match clearing long balls off the line & blooting long balls from the keeper instead of building up from the back. The only part that isn't hoofball is how they try to score but the general flow of the game is still majority air duels, which is what Klopp & Pep have struggled with initially. The ball doesn't stay on the ground as much as most other leagues.

Literal retard. Barca were 5-1 up on aggregate athalf time in the second leg, then subbed Suarez off and didn't givea shit in the second half. Pep's Buyern were outplayed in all their eliminations.

Keep your spirits up. With all the pacenogs and pacepakis coming up like Alli, I think England will have some great teams soon.

Alli's not really fast. Serious lack of football knowledge from Australians in this thread. Giving Americans a run.

> Pep's Buyern were outplayed in all their eliminations

Don't be silly. Juve eliminated them and it was dead even the whole time. When Barca eliminated them they had half the team injured yet managed to dominate the 2nd game where they had a lot of close close chances. The first game was purely the best team in the world with the best player in the world punishes any and all weaknesses.

It's actually a bit of a shame, get smashed in the first champions league because of being nervous and listening to treble winning players with an ego, lose 2nd champions league to the GOAT team/player and lose the 3rd to a close hard fought match. I guess you're right they were outplayed in their knockout matches but it's hardly something to be ashamed about except for the first one.

they need to stop the league cup

Juve didn't eliminate them so I'm not sure what you're on about. In terms of the Barca elimination, it sounds like you didn't even watch it and are just reading Wikipedia results. Pep played kamikaze football with a high line and it was hilarious to see Barca get in behind so easily. The only time Bayern played 'well' is the second half of the second leg when the tie was over and Barca had Atletico (?) at the weekend when the La Liga title race was still open.

Fergie retired. You had to be a great team to compete with him. Rafas Liverpool, Mourinhos Chelsea and Wengers teams from late 2000's would have 90 points by now.

When will you fix it?

Good post

The tactics that Klopp, Conte, Wenger, Mourinho, Koeman, Pocchetino, Guardiola, Mazzarri and Puel employ are too English.

Oh I watched it alright and yes everyone was shocked at the three at the back but they had a lot of chances for Lewa et al to shank open goals from some really good crosses & counter attacks.

Atletico sorry* That 2-2 leg on away goals, I thought they were going to pull a 3rd goal in the last 10 mins there but it felt like time wasting I turned the TV off at the final sub.

Honestly thought they were going to win last year before he fucked off to City.
