Hey, looking for recs please

+Deerhunter
+Dirty Projector

The old thread sank as I posted in it so imma just copy paste from last time

Curious about the choice of putting that Of Monsters and Men album on there
Bottom half seems pretty surface level but the upper half is interesting albeit skewed toward newer stuff
Good choices on the Japanese stuff
Either over 30 or likes to pretend they are
Surprised to see Gang of Four on here but not Joy Division
Maybe check out the first Witchfinder General album
Probably dive deeper into the discogs of the artists you like, feels pretty standard

You found it hard to focus in school since you would always get lost in your thoughts.
Teen Suicide - Waste Yrself if you haven't yet.
Dean Blunt - Black Metal
Eluvium - Lambent Material
Yellow Swans - Going Places

How do you guys rec each other music when all your charts are pretty much the same

Like seriously it would be like asking for movie recs based on the fact that my favorites are 2001 and Citizen Kane. Yes those are good movies and its not that you shouldn't like them, but they seriously say nothing about your taste, everybody likes them

Artsy Punk.

listen to F#A# infinite if you haven't already

Sad sad sad. Yup thats me

To be fair, you can give interesting recs even based on entry level taste. I mean if you like 2001 you might also like solaris for example. Its really more of matter of the recommender bringing obscure recs (not that solaris is obscure) than the recommendee having distinct taste. You also can't expect everyone in a community to have distinct taste precisely because they are a community. Of course theyre going have overlapping tastes if this is their primary source for new music. The people on here with distinct taste usually bring it from outside of mu

Quiet, but if people talk to you they think you are chill.

Thinks you are alone, but you have friends and go to parties.

You are white and grew up middle class. Your Dad was a classic rocker, and you had to hide your fascination with hip hop from your family.

lookin 4 some heavy dreamy recs

Hello /chart/ friends. I've listened to and loved music for a long time but I'm just now "digging into it". How do you go about listening to an album? As in do you write down thoughts on each track as it goes along? Do you care about the coherence of the album as a whole or just the quality of the tracks? How do you know if its a favorite? And how many times do you listen to it? I feel like it would be very hard for me to discern my thoughts on an album if I didn't jot down some sort of thoughts along the way

I usually sit down in a comfy spot with the lyrics pulled up. I listen and take mental notes to the music progression and the themes (if it has any) of an album. If you're listening to an album you should observe the consistency of the songs in the album. You'll know if it's a fav if you want to listen to it again and the themes and instrumentals resonate you. You can take physical notes if you want to. Music is very subjective so do what you want to do or do what you feel like you should do.

What's the best way to make these charts?

Thanks, that makes sense. How do you rate your albums?

topsters dot net

Thank you dude.

As artsy fartsy as it sounds, I don't like to give albums a numeric value because I have a hard time actually creating a scale that I'm consistent to. But if I had to choose I try to rate it on consistency, interesting themes, creativity, and the quality of the instrumental.

Why are you posting this same image in both this and the collage thread?

how many times do you have to listen to an album for you to deem it as one ofe your faves or put it into your top 50 albums ranking list
Hipster taste.

I replied to the wrong person, you have hipster taste broe

I don't need any reccs or anything (unless they're really something special)

What I do want is assurance that I'm a patrician, since I'm an insecure weakling.

define patrician, like really think about what type of person you are trying to impress with your music taste and why you feel the need to categorize your pretentious music in a chart and post it to Sup Forums

Being a patrish is usually a self-given title thing I find

okay this is actually hella pseudo intellectual and i feel like a tard for posting this. sorry im blushing right now
