ITT how would you fix football?

me
>severely nerf penalty awarding decisions
>regular penalty only given for fouls committed during a concrete goal-scoring situation
>free kick inside the box for every other situation

this would eliminate the following problems
>reckless cunt diving
>preventing penalties from being as game chaning as they are right now
>forcing the attacking team to not rely on penalty awards as they do right now - the penalty rule was first introduced to prevent the defending team from literally not letting you play; now it's mainly used and abused to bait for easy goals
>allow the defenders to defend more freely without worrying about being tricked by a diving cunt
>the referee's inherent panic of giving away a penalty for literally nothing - he now has the rules on his side

Keepers shouldn't be sent off for fouling in a 1 on 1 unless exceptionally reckless. It's too abusable and the other team get punished twice.

ban men from playing it; it's a women's sport.

Standardize the name of the sport as soccer

Your best player would become shit if those rules took effect. You realize that right Leandro?

>shots off the woodwork and out are corner kicks, not goal kicks
>retroactive yellow and red cards for missed dives
>retroactive resinsion of yellow and red cards mistakenly given
>no away goals rule
>ABBA penalty kick formay

It's allready objectively the best, but there is always room for improvement:
>video ref for important situations (red cards, penalties, goals)
>ban players for obvious dives (might be not be needed with video ref)
>do more against clubs like real, barca, manu etc. overspending

yeah Yen you're right, we score so many penalties because of him

...

>shots off the woodwork and out are corner kicks, not goal kicks
>no away goals rule
Yeah pls stick to footegg

This, but boys under 12 can still play it so soccer moms can have a reason to mingle.

Time keeper to stop the clock when the play is whistled dead by the refs, then start it once play resumes

Booth replay for yellow/red cards and goals

Institute a hockey-style penalty system where a player who commits a foul must stand off to the side for 2 minutes

No away goals is the only good idea there

>Time keeper to stop the clock when the play is whistled dead by the refs, then start it once play resumes

what do you think extra time is

>Booth replay for yellow/red cards and goals

ridiculous that we still can't use replays for decisions. everybody in the world knows exactly what happened except the referee

Just make it so that away goals don't count, if the game goes to extra time. Effectively one team has 90 minutes to score away goals, while the other one has 120 minutes. That's unfair, but apart from that the rule is fine.

Extra time is totally arbitrary. If the clock stopped and started during the game, time would be must more accurate.

>what do you think extra time is
Arbitrary bullshit used nowadays to give the big name teams more time to score if they are behind or tied

it's not arbitrary. multiple people count it and a set time is added for each substitution.

the reason you can't stop the game clock is because there are 5 different officials on the pitch with synchronised watches.

>opposite team doesnt score because good gk or some shithead misses
>get punished twice.

Should have scored either from the original play or the penalty then. Why should goalkeepers be penalised for doing their job?

>Retroactive bans for diving

>Only allow captains to talk to the ref, cards for other players who do

>Allow refs to review goals, penalty decisions and red cards they aren't 100% sure about

Everyone should be able to agree on this. It would fix the most obvious shit wrong with the sport and stuff that non fans always pick on to mock. There might be other stuff to fix, but these are the necessities.

>Match is now 60 minutes long in two periods of 30 minutes each
>Effective play time exists meaning that everytime the refree whistles, time stops and restarts when the ball moves.
>No extra time obv
>Remove additional refrees
>Add video assist to be used upon request of the refree.

one team gets even more time under home advantage, stupid ass argument.

>Effective play time exists meaning that everytime the refree whistles, time stops and restarts when the ball moves.
>Remove additional refrees

again this won't work. you need linesmen, and when they flag play is technically stopped but the referee may not have spotted them straight away, meaning the ball is dead but his watch is still counting.

the only fair way to keep time is a third party who can see everything

Penalties need to be changed somehow. The problem with them is that they're worth so much in football, because it's a low scoring game and it's one to one with a regular goal, whereas in Basketball a free throw is worth just one (shot twice) and with the high volume you really need a lot for it to add up

By additional refrees I mean the one behind the goal, not linesman.

>when they flag play is technically stopped but the referee may not have spotted them straight away

Yeah, but the time stops when ref says so, it doesn't matter. It wouldn't change anything from what it is now; the game stops when ref notices, restarts from where it was stopped and everything happened between the flag and the whistle doesn't count, so be with effective time with only some seconds of time shifting. In a plausible scenario you would lose less than 20 seconds per match so it's not a big deal considering that on average in Serie A effective time played is, as you might imagine, 60 minutes per match.

Refs are pretty lenient in the box tbf. You have to hit someone pretty hard and clearly visibly to get a penalty called. but yeah I agree it adds an annoying element where players actively seek to get fouled instead of shoot

just make the penalty spot further out

Make penalties happen if the foul is in the goal area

remove the americans

>Ban all footballl agents.
Instead have a pool of agents paid by FIFA that would be assigned to the players.

> TV rights for leagues sold by UEFA and not each league.
Each league would get money from UEFA. Then it would be given to the clubs. The criteria would be 50% ratings and 50% league UEFA coefficient.
Then the money would be distributed to the clubs, under the same criteria - 25% for past titles, 25% for previous league position and 50% for ratings.

>Ban club owners
Clubs can no longer have private owners. Clubs belong to its associates and would be ruled by a president elect among them. By this, we would completely erase plastic clubs.

Huh? Not really comprehending what you're saying but they do it in basketball.

That's nowhere near as big of AM advantage as having 30 more minutes to score one goal that can force the other to score 3 (Three) to compensate. Away goals is a Dumb as shit rule that belongs in the 70s.

the ref and linesmen all have synchronised watches as back up, any of them can stop play at any moment but obviously not their personal clock since it would be constantly de-syncing with other officials'.

the current system of offpitch officials calculating stoppage time works just fine. fergie time was just a myth - all big teams chasing a lead statistically create more dead ball situations leading to more extra time given

The game went to shit after Cutler retired. The NFL will never recover

>severely
>concrete
Guess what retard, you've solved nothing. Refs will still be able to decide who wins, because what you're suggesting is to keep decisions SUBJECTIVE, just like they are right now.

This is why I don't watch your league, Joao.

ADD A BLUE LINE
OFFSIDE TRAPS CREATES SHITTY PACING AND BORING GAME
SINCERELY, HOCKEY

Ejections instead of cautions for break-away fouls.

More post-match bans for diving.

No more cumulative yellow yard bans for any tournaments.

Bring back Golden Goal EXCEPT no golden penalties. So if a team scores on a PK the other team has all of OT to equalize or win. A team cannot win on a PK in OT.

U10 soccer (in the USA at least) has started with a blue line of sorts. It's called the "build-out" line. It's used because most little kids can barely handle the goal kick. It's shit.

Eliminate direct free kicks & add 5-10-15 mins send-offs. The rules are literally supporting diving and "tactical" fouls. It's too much reward for something that shouldn't be a regular part of the game.

If a player gets a red card, he is sent off, but a replacement is brought on and counts towards one of the teams substitutes. I cant tell you how many times I check a box score of a game
>Real Madrid 2 - 1 Las Palmas
>Boetang GOAL 12'
>Ronaldo GOAL 49'
>Lemos RED CARD 78'
>Ronaldo GOAL 85'

Dam 9 year old kids sound like the perfect platform to test that on.

>player is tiring
>breaks someones leg
>gets a red and is subbed

see the flaw here?

How Bout add unlimited subs to keep the game entertaining?

I know european football is a travesty of an actual sport but you still shouldn't care about "entertainment" in professional elite sports.

It's more for keeping the defense back. The defending team must all retreat beyond the line when the keeper gets the ball or it's a goal kick. It also serves as a blue line though because it's the beginning of where you can be offside, rather than the midfield line.

If the sport is run properly it will be entertaining. The fact that soccer doesn't have instant replay and booth calls is just ridiculous, that's bush league shit

>doesn't have instant replay and booth calls

Pro adults are the ones that abuse the offside rule in soccer, not 9 year old kids. If you want people to take a sport seriously you have to remove all thngs the teams can do to abuse the rules. Football is great because the game itself is held to a high standard, soccer is a joke because it doesn't do that

It's being trialled in a couple of no-name leagues. Would slow the game down quite a lot but I'm all for it

You can't challenge plays in soccer and have them reviewed is what I meant

oh that's fine, it's already being tested in young tournaments

offside traps are a huge element to the game. needs disciplined defending and smart/quick attacker movement. not boring at all

/thread

This. There is already a football, and it's called handegg

Love the first three

how would you fix Sup Forums?

me
>no more frog pics
>get rid of desu senpai, the words they filter, and any variants
>phone shitters out immediately

>not appreciating the coordination of a backline and orchestration of an offside trap

full pleb

Goal with foot = 1 point
Goal with head = 2 points
Goal with torso = 3 points
Goal with funny parts (ass, dick, axillae) = 10 points

Hilarity ensues.

> he doesn't likes frog posters
> he somehow tolerates t.b.h f.a.m s.m.h posters

no i mean remove the desu senpai and the shit they filter like tbhfamalaXD shit

Why would they break someone's leg rather than just signal to the manager that they'd like to be subbed?

literally easiest thing is to actually use cameras to make decisions for penalties or not

because they could injure their opponent's best player with no punishment beyond a 3 game ban

whereas going down to 10 men is a strong deterrent

true , penalties should start being half a point

no brainers:
>no injury time
>use instant replay/challenges
>mandatory golden goal on draws
>unlimited subs
>if a player goes down for more than 2 minutes, he should exit the game by rule

kinda specific shit:
>recognize the obvious 2-3 teams leagues and make them play 30 games each season against each other

This has been the best answer so far
