Thoughts on this, I am listing for the first time because I wanted to engulf myself in the roots of black metal first. I know critics love it, but based off the first track it's to open. and it's kinda.... boring I guess. It might get better, but it just sounds like shoegaze with shreiks but not as drenched in reverb or effects
don't expect a blackmetal album, is different. Don't look for the type of emotions you'll have with an average bm album, open yourself to gay stuff.
But like, I'm not a purist in any sense of the word. but I love the aural assualt that is the classics, and I do like some symphic death meat because I feel like it's "evil" for lack of better word.
But like what the fuck is the harmonies on Irresistible. It's..... now I can see why the black metal community was hating on this. I it's kinda gay

It's got more in common with Orchid than black metal.

I was actually going to say this reminds me a bit of Escape the Fate or a Post-Hardcore band like that. Just more atmospheric
that's why I asked
it was intentional I'm not that much of a black metal pleb
Love this shit. Dungeon synth is great.
Ulver ruined black metal.
>first wave bm album
>It opens with someone speaking in broken english with distortion added to sound like a demon
hijacking this thread to blatantly ask for recs
is there a black metal chart? I've been listening to stuff like Darkthrone and Bathory recently and want to delve deeper into the genre but I don't know where to start
Check out Deafheaven, just finshed the album. most cvlt thing I've ever heard
what a great fucking meme
I'm not into black metal and I know this chart is old as fuck but it's something. It's just something I grabbed off of the mu essentials wiki, there's a few more black metal charts on there.
I know it's even funnier because I just finished it and it's a hot heap of shit.
>Obsessed by Cruelty over In The Sign of Evil
>Blood Fire Death over The Return or Under the Sign of the Black Mark
>Satanic Rites over Apocalyptic Raids
>Transilvanian Hunger over A Blaze in The Northern Sky
I aaalmost love this but in actuality I hate it
This is the best
Complete faggot
This
This is what people who don’t actually know what they’re talking about believe. The US is far from the best but let’s not be retarded and act like it’s all shit.
>roots of black metal
What
Good Christian black metal exists and is called reverorum ib malacht
How did ulver ruin it?
roots might have been the wrong word but where it stared. Like Bathory to Darthrone.
