Tfw theres no better pure creative fantasy movie then spirited away

>tfw theres no better pure creative fantasy movie then spirited away

shut up weeb

Star Wars

thats teh thing. ive looked down on weebs too, but this movie has made me understand them. nothing comes close to this level of comfy feels

lmao

>anglo-literary tradition + decades of established studio-tropes = ultimate creative force
Thank you for that thought out and helpful opinion OP.

>Truly I have been Spirted Away™

Utter hack

It's a great movie. It's basically a Japanese Alice In Wonderland.

>then
I'll sure believe the opinion of an illiterate neophyte.

>>Sup Forums

thank you for your equally useless post, redd1it

anytime fampire

man who would of thought, getting upset and raging online over grammer mistakes on Sup Forums at 5am on a friday. bet you didnt see that one coming, faggot

Over the Garden Wall is on par with it imo.

It's not technically a feature film but it is 90 minutes.

It also felt to me culturally 'American' in the same way that Miyazaki movies feel Japanese (i'm not either).

Spiritied away is the most overrated movie of all time

fuck outa here retard

Its not even in the best miyazaki movie

It's overrated due to exposure but definitely good enough to deserve praise. There are plenty of mediocre and even genuinely bad movies that are widely loved. Keep in mind when making posts like this that Christopher Nolan doesn't only have a career, he has legions of fans who consider his work beautiful and cerebral.

it literally is, google best anime ever. spirited is first

baka, Tales from Earthsea is the best miyazaki movie

>tales from earthsea
>not genocyber

no , spirited away is objectively the best anime movie ever made, i would even say best movie ever made

>spirited away

Is that a movie about my last party?

>not feelociraptors

you goddamn moron

Fuck Hayao''Ill end this great movie with a shitty ending'' Miyazaki

How can one movie be so simulatenously comfy and creepy?

I don't know, that'd feel more appropriate if the raptors were Wojaks.

Do you think his movies have shitty endings? None of them feel shitty to me.

the ending of spirited away where they took the water bus was so comfy and epic . the part where chihiro had to guess her parents to "win" to be able to leave felt kinda corny. the part where the parents found there car all covered in dust was awsome.

why didnt chihiro marry the boy tho , and have like a happy ending and shit. She had already been working in the borthel and now she goes back with her pig parents and they probably make her clean and stuff but she has awakened alreayd so and the ending is thematically wrong really.

He's not a boy. He's the personification of a river. Her happy ending is that she's grown as a person and now moving and having to meet new people is no problem to her.

I don't see how what you have in mind would be thematically fitting. The bath-house is meant to feel distinctly unsafe, getting away unscathed is a victory all on its own.

The English version is absolutely the most overrated dub of all time. It's not completely terrible, but that's exactly what makes it so insidious, it's decent enough that most people won't bother to watch it in Japanese because it's simply not as immediately or obviously terrible as most English dubs.

If Spirited Away is a four star film in English, it's a five star film in Japanese. The former is so different that it may as well be considered a different film, and I'd be happy to consider it decent but greatly overpraised. In Japanese it really is that much better though and it's much more difficult to imagine me getting sick of it. Especially since it actually has comprehensible plot and character motivations.

He clearly is a boy. What do you mean by 'personification'? Is River like his real name? That's a nice name, i don't see the issue. I'm saying she's ready to settle down and breed. She's had her adventures and she's got the stories to tell her grandkids now, she doesn't need to waste her life with her parents and going to university or whatever, she could just stay in the spirited away place and settle down. Honestly i don't get why it didn't happen, this world is so purile everyone only cares about status and sex and money and i think she knows this.

makes sens, since Ghibli-studios is just japanese Disney

GTFO

...

...

Not even miyazakis third best movie

Its very imaginative yes but he's got better

Opinion discarded

>Tfw there will never be an mmo taking place entirely in the bathhouse/brothel

Is that a rare pepe?

Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Porco Rosso are all better because they arent filled with plotholes and a wedged in "oh now i remember you you saved me that time the audience never even knew about!" moment.

also
>yfw you realize the bathhouse was a brothel and no face showered chihiro in gifts because he wanted her virginity
>yubaba is what a madame is called in japanese brothel culture

>>yfw you realize the bathhouse was a brothel and no face showered chihiro in gifts because he wanted her virginity

This is also another reason why the dub sucks.

i actually just watched princess mononoke and nausicaa, trying to chase the high i got off watching spirited away. although both were very good, they just arent even close to spirited. the whole bath / brothel anology is really a stretch, and frankly an insult to the level of creative genius the movie offers.

its not an analogy, sorry if i crushed your childlike nostalgia. watch the porco rosso dub with michael keaton and cary elwes. its fantastic.

It's an allegory

>he doesn't know how to link boards yet and already feels like telling us what to do on our site

sorry your wrong

nah hes right

It's not necessarily a brothel, but a heavy theme of the film is that it focuses on exploitation, whatever the specific nature of it. There's nothing to say that a sexual interpretation is wrong, though it's not at all necessary to posit that the whole thing is really mature and dirty because it's REALLY about characters trying to sex a grade school girl. No face clearly desires Chihiro and her company, but how far you read into that is up to you, though certain lines hint at the idea pretty squarely.

>film focus's on explotion

in other words because theres a conflict in the plot it must be insinuating that no face is a pedophile and the entire bath house are dirty smut peddlers. lmao. you kids are fuckin sad

satsuki is raped and murdered

>in other words because theres a conflict in the plot it must be insinuating that no face is a pedophile

No, I'm not claiming this at all. There's no reason he HAS to be a pedophile, but you can't easily rule that out. He at least wants more than simply sex from her, he certainly isn't quite that depraved, but if he desires her romantically than this isn't completely off the table. On top of this, the theme of exploitation and the ways in which society accepts bosses taking advantage of workers is much more specific than simply 'conflict' in general.

>No face clearly desires Chihiro and her company
yea did you ever ask yourself why? why does this random bad spirit that cant even talk stalk a young girl?

>yea did you ever ask yourself why?

Are you implying it's obviously about sex? Because I don't disagree with you, I just don't consider it that clear cut.

because shes the main character maybe? because she has some hidden yet to be discovered strength that no one can see, but maybe no face can? theres alot of reasons why that dont involve chihiro being molested, lol.

>she has some hidden yet to be discovered strength that no one can see
what a reach. no face is a gluttonous demon that has no regard for others and will eat anyone who gets in the way of his unbriddled lust. it tickles me how people adore such a character with no relevance to the main plot and no redemption. chihiro in her youthful naivete doesnt realize what a danger he is.

>no better
it's a great movie but stop with the Sup Forums tier bullshit you underage faggot

id really love to see what the creator has to say about your views of the movie. you are equating every little subliminal detail with your little "theory" , which iget it, its been discussed before, its not even yours, but i still disagree with it massively. the movie is purely creative magic, there is absolutely no way the creator invented all these amazing scenes to have them represent such a dark and depraved message. i get why you think the way yo udo, but maybe spend less time on Sup Forums.

its cute you picture miyazaki as these sweet old japanese colonial sanders but if you look into his past you'll be surprised. btw he hates everything american and his films are inspired by what he dislikes more than what he likes.

...

Because she is not motivated by greed like everyone else. She is pure, virginal, 'good'. There is a recurring motif in Miyazaki films of magical bad people/ creatures being drawn to the cute young girl to learn what satisfaction can be had from being good, and ultimately to be good themselves. The stories are never about the girl being corrupted by the evil.

No face sees Chihiro as an antithesis to the unsatisfying hedonism of the brothel.

Also, Chihiro is made to work so hard in that place and exploited so far, because she's not yet sexual currency and so her value is low. It's a story about exploitation and sex work, but it's not a story about paedophilia.

>it's not a story about paedophilia.
definitely right because you could take no face out of the movie and nothing would change.

the fact your brining up "sex work" when talking about this movie shows how fucking depraved you are. its like trying to explain how disney movies are actually movies representing porn and molestation and rape. your fucked in the head. spirited away is 100% clean good "spirited" fun. get rekt senpai

I wish people like you weren't allowed to watch movies

>creator invented all these amazing scenes to have them represent such a dark and depraved message

Look, the whole "Spirited Away is really a dark movie about prostitution and that makes it so mature" thing is really unnecessary, but watching the film in Japanese it's pretty clear that Kaonashi is supposed to portray the kind of desperate, lonely shut-in who has non platonic interest in Chihiro and becomes progressively more mad as he perceives her actions as rejecting him. At the beginning and end he wouldn't want to harm her, but his desire for her has a clearly one sided and selfish component and I don't know what you'd honestly interpret this as otherwise unless you're going by memories of the English version. I mean, were she a boy, his motivations would be that much less understandable.

I liked Princess Mononoke way better. First time I saw it I was on pills and it fucked me up senpai, felt so dark and eery.

ye man thats why i love studio ghibli shit. that dark eery undertone to all the amazingly creative fantasy. thoroughly good

...

Why do you equate sex with depravity? It's a totally normal thing.

>its like trying to explain how disney movies are actually movies representing porn and molestation and rape

So, rational?

There is rape in Maleficent.

There is depravity in Hercules when he talks about oedipus, Who Framed Roger Rabbit when the baby looks up his nannies skirt, Hunchback of Notre Dame when the old guy sings about burning young Ezmerelda at the stake if she doesn't get with him.

There are numerous hidden pornographic images in disney.

"sex" and "sex work" and "bath house brothels" are kind of not the same thing

What's wrong with sex work and bath house brothels?

so you're a demi god soakin in the pool at a luxurious night time bathhouse in period japan, are you people really telling me you can't pay to have one of these scantily clad slit eyed wenches schlozz your schnurple?

Is the middle one his penis?

They're all his penis.
