So /gg/, why does going from a Maj7 to a minor add 9 that's a major third above it sound so intense? Is it because the 9 is a tritone above the original root?
How does one actually play this tapping and does it have a name? It's so fast I can't even see what the fuck is happening.
Matthew Bailey
>H&K Tubeman being delivered tomorrow
What to expect? I'll be using the speaker sim out to a big ass powered speaker. Eventually hoping to expand to an AMT Pangea for loading impulse responses
Julian Ward
Look up eight finger tapping.
Henry Thompson
The most likely reason why your hearing this change as "intense" is not as much because of the tri-tone being present, but these other two factors
1. The highest note of the C#-9 chord is a G#. This is the 7th degree of the scale you just implied by playing the Amaj7 chord. Which creates unresolved tension.
2. There is a interval of a semitone in the middle of of your C#-9 between the 9th and -3rd. This makes the chord sounds darker, unstable, and more "intense"
Wyatt Fisher
muddy. I would mix it with a condenser mic.
Henry Carter
I got into the habit of cracking my knuckles and now my left hand pointer finger hurts at it's base whenever I bend it. Does this ever go away?
Eli Reed
Would Fender Custom Shop 51 Nocaster Pickups be a good replacement for the stock ceramic pickups in a MIM Standard Tele?
Logan Cox
big improvement
Dylan Perry
Yeah, but you better be playing that through a good amp.
Josiah Stewart
hi
Christian Russell
Depends. If your amp is shit, get a better one before splurging on pickups.
Mediocre pickups sound good through a great amp, great pickups some like shit through a mediocre amp.
Liam Davis
>when they say my inspirations are Andy timmons john frusciante
Andrew Thomas
What is the least I can spend on a guitar without it being an absolute waste of money? Squier bullet or affinity? Cort g100?
Camden Morgan
>not liking John Frusciante
Joshua Morris
I can't say they are my inspirations but what's wrong with Timmons or Frusciante? What's wrong with you?
Isaiah Collins
Frusciante inspired me to do a lot of heroin
Aaron Fisher
I've had a bullet strat for 9 years. I recently started playing it again after I sold my Jaguar and it's held up fine. Tuning stability is pretty bad though.
Joseph Nelson
>I sold my Jaguar let me guess ..now you want a telecaster right
Mason King
>running through all the songs you know Shit is gonna take me a week and that’s if I play an hour a day.
Henry Russell
No, I want a classic series 60s strat with the lacquer finish.
Camden Cooper
well that's just disgusting
Kevin Perez
this nibba knows what's good
Chase Russell
How?
Lincoln Jones
Welcome to old age
Elijah Nelson
Should I record via the traditional amp + pedals + mic setup or just go directly through an audio interface with some software pedals? What are the upsides and downsides to each method?
Jackson Davis
>a Stratocaster but with the tremolo system of a Jazzmaster what do you think
Landon Hughes
>2 tone sunburst (kek on a "60s" strat) >rosewood fretboard >3 piece alder body >lacquer over a poly base the whole thing is just gross
Chase Cox
I've got a better idea. >a Stratocaster with the tremolo system of a Stratocaster
Adrian Brown
i just bought this and im excited its my first 12 string and first jangly sound what am i in for?
Carter Ward
Friendly reminder that nobody will respect you as a guitar player unless you play with 2mm Dunlop™ Gator Grip™s
Liam Morales
disgusting
Jason Jones
Would the hardtail bullet stay in tune better than the tremolo?
Luke Jackson
strat trem worst trem
Levi Lee
The beveled edge is trash though Flat edge Tortex a best
Josiah Thomas
>2 tone sunburst It's 3 tone >rosewood fretboard Period correct, also the best fretboard material >3 peice alder body It's 2 peice >lacquer over poly They've been doing that since 1963. Have you ever heard of fullerplast? Did you not even take the time to google this?
Cameron Gray
sorry that post didn't come with quads so I'm going to have to ignore it
Tyler Peterson
Probably, I stuck a roll of electrical tape between the trem and body in the cavity to block it. I think the tuners are just shit.
James Morris
>It's 3 tone yuck even worse >Period correct, also the best fretboard material objectively shit + marks the beginning of fenders decline >It's 2 peice with that seam? disgusting. nothing but he finest spic workmanship right >They've been doing that since 1963. Have you ever heard of fullerplast? Did you not even take the time to google this? fender confirmed always shit no matter what
Robert Taylor
kek
Joshua Long
Before you know it you will have a floppy fringe and wear cardigans
>finish leaving a show my friend was playing at >been careying my guitar all day cuz school >walk by group of girls >one of them asks me to play for them
Should I carry this thing everywhere now?
Robert Wilson
>tuning stability is pretty bad
thats because you don't know how to properly string a guitar.
Chase Sanchez
How would I properly string a guitar?
Lincoln Scott
not him but i have a mexican tele, a jazzmaster, a few acoustic, etc, and i've done full set ups on all of them (leveling frets, making new nuts, etc) and my bullet strat refuses to stay in tune as well.
i'd love to be told what i'm doing wrong because i've never once had a problem with any other guitar, my jazzmaster and tele play fucking flawlessly
Anthony Gomez
If you are restringing that squier strat, file down the grooves on all the saddles so they are totally smooth, no metal burrs, file down under the string tree, and lubricate all string contact points. Assuming you dont wind your machine heads like a retard, you should have far less tuning issues after this.
Levi Brown
pro tip: the easiest way to keep a squire in tune is to sell it and buy a real guitar
Brody Fisher
But I'd get like $40 for it. It was $99 when I bought it new 9 years ago. I'm getting a MIM Fender soon anyways.
Julian Lopez
How much more do you need to spend to have a guitar that stays in tune compared to an entry level squier though? If you're just looking for something cheap and not complete dogshit is having to tune regularly a dealbreaker?
Parker Turner
The point of tuning is to have the string return to the pitch you set it at AFTER you strum it, bend it, use tremolo etc. If there is any resistance at the string contact points, the string wont go back to where you tuned it and it will go "out of tune"
Cheap guitars usually have rougher hardware the strings get snagged on unfinished metal pieces.
Nicholas Mitchell
no its because its a squire stupid
Jason Brooks
Also people wrap their machine heads really badly and the extra slack takes a while to pick up so it never stays in tune until then.
Xavier Thompson
Fucking this, everyone knows Squires don't stay in tune.
Aiden Butler
Here are the wrappings on the bullet strat.
Adam Bell
this is good wrapping
which strings go out of tune
Zachary Richardson
The unwound ones and to a lesser extent D. I think the user that said to file under the string trees was right. I'll be sure to do that next time I change strings. I found the best way to measure when to clip strings is to hold them to the next machine head up and cut there, for the high E I cut at the top of the flat part of the headstock.
Caleb Ward
I don't know what side the war bard was on so I'm just going to have to make it up as I go in this lyrical interpretation of what he was singing at the time:
>Why is my homeland at war? >Why do they bring in their tanks and their guns? >We'll always fight until we die >Until Allah takes us to heaven
>I'll take 1,000 of you infidels with me >Before I go, before I go >And before you shoot me, I'll walk in your camp >The bombs on my chest will explode!
>Hey!
>Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya, ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya, ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya America the Great Satan
>My little brother he died in his bed >My sister Aisha was shot in the head >My mother she died when a bomb did explode >My father was swallowed when the ground did erode
>We are the Middle East [insert tribe here] >We'll fight for our land we hold dear!
>Victory! Victory! Give me a V! >We'll never give up and we'll never bend knee
>Victory! Victory! Give me freedom! >You give me hell and you too will taste some.
>Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya, Allah will prevail! Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya, We will prevail over Satan!
Samuel Clark
Yeah funny meme, but there is a reason why it goes out of tune, and most of the time it isnt the tuners. I have an affinity telecaster I've played for years (all original hardware) and it seldom goes out of tune.
Brody Russell
what happened after you played?
did you just walk away like a virgin?
Aiden Gomez
Does anyone have any tips for learning how to figure out guitar tunings from a live performance? I'd rather not just ask for help every time i get stuck and can't figure it out
Cooper Jackson
Try to identify the lowest note they play and tune your guitar to that note.
Landon Russell
>when to clip strings I always pull tight then drop back two fingers. An extra crimp at the end to prevent slippage. (Lost my wire cutters, so I'm looping.)
>their tanks and their guns and their guns and their bombs
how the hell are you supposed to hold a whammy bar? I usually put the nub on the outer part of my palm below my pinky but then I end up strumming over the higher frets. is there any effective way to hold a tremolo arm so that you still wind up strumming over the pickups?
