Tfw go on the internet and some new celeb is accused of racism or rape again

>tfw go on the internet and some new celeb is accused of racism or rape again
are we approaching an epidemic?

I feel the same way. I avoid all news and social media these days, and only come here to fap. The news in general have been really depressing lately.

what specifically? i know what you mean but a lot of this recent shit is credible, not mattress girl/swans tier shit. but there is definitely an issue where someone is very clearly a creepy fuck but this then makes people willing to accept anything.

Maybe they should try just not being rapists

>a lot of this recent shit is credible
All of it's "uhhhh we were both drunk but he was acting creepy to me at a party and after we had sex I felt weird about it" because people know now's the prime opportunity to get showered with attention and validation after the Weinstein shit

World is completely fucked, and it's only going to get worse. I'm hiding in my little corner and have cut off all forms of mainstream media.

>are we approaching an epidemic?
yeah an epidemic of overly sensitive liberal media going on a bloody witch hunt. They keep throwing people under the bus over questionable scandals just to pique moronic readers' natural taste for drama.

the mainstream media is fucked

i asked you to be specific, i know what kind of shit you mean, i already said that's a problem, but so is dismissing everything out of hand for that very reason
everyone is way too scared to accept the complexity

wait. people actually care about this stuff and don't just look at it as a joke? I couldn't give a fuck

This but unironically.

Just checking in to say that Weinstein did nothing wrong

It's well deserved. If rape culture exists, it exists within Hollywood.

Good. Let them burn their own kind. And they fucking should, rape is horrible.

i see this a lot
>guy does miscellaneous creepy wrong shit
>gets exposed for it
>from this point, people will say and believe literally anything for their own reasons, undermining the credible core
>this goes on to the point where people start just throwing up their hands and saying it's either all lies or all truth on principle

I play Sengoku Rance everytime I see the word rape in anything, it's my third playthrough after 3 years without touching the game

No, just third wave feminism at work.

>implying women arent just breeding sows

by Allah behave yourself or I will give you a taste of my shoe

>rape is horrible
okay but this isnt. >uhhhh we were both drunk but he was acting creepy to me at a party and after we had sex I felt weird about it
and who's to say which it really was in any of these cases?

the people being accused could be completely innocent but as long as some loud-mouthed attention whore goes to the media and claims she was raped by some celebrity years ago, the headline of the next day's paper is going to be
>so-and-so is accused of rape by so-and-so
and that's going to translate to
>so-and-so is a rapist

yeah rape is bad, but if you ACTUALLY get raped then go to the fucking police. don't go tattle to some journalist so you can get five seconds of fame out of it.

you're not wrong, but it's a two way street
not trying to say this shit isn't a fucking nightmare, but you're just giving up, just like the people who believe everything.

This feels very familiar somehow.

and yes, you're naive as shit if you think every case is just a simple matter of going to the police and that everyone who doesn't do this has some ulterior motive. you just want the easy explanation.

yesterday's standard dating/hook-up occurrences are today's career ruining scandals. kind of almost feels like the goal is to further depress the birthrate of certain populations, you know? makes you think.

sorry your bag of tricks got emptied cosby

>everyone who doesn't do this has some ulterior motive
there IS a glaring ulterior motive that can't be ignored. Everybody who brings this shit to the media is guaranteed fame, sympathy and attention. sure there are probably exceptions when it comes to motivation, but come on. let's use occam's razor

>Sup Forums - Music

no, go shove your razor up your ass. not taking the easy way out.
try this, let's say it's 2016 in the heat of the election and someone has compromising information on the clinton campaign. they KNOW this is genuine. do you want them to go to the cops where you know it will probably go absolutely nowhere or just expose it? something to think about.

Avoid the news and social media, you'll be a much happier person. I read in a self help book that happiness comes from solving problems so we should choose what problems we want to solve, the news only shows problems that are completely out of our hands and all we can do is get mad and direct it somewhere, that's how they make their money. If you focus on a different problem like "I want to play an instrument but don't know how", you can actually solve the problem you're focused on and feel good when you do. The news is just bait, if something is important, you'll hear about it eventually.

>trying to equate the gravity of an unproven rape allegation and incriminating evidence against a presidential candidate
these aren't even close to being comparable user.

>no, go shove your razor up your ass
typical liberal putting irrational emotion before logic

tl;dr the police aren't magic stupid

This is what I tell my parents, and it's really good advice, I traded all kind of news information for unseen movies and music, never learned so much in my life

love this

i would say avoid social media but having an idea of whats going on in the world is useful. just find an issue that you can try and become involved in instead of just letting everything weigh down on you.

tumblr warriors posting rape threads on here are a microcosm of easy keyboard "activisim" that is ineffective and self serving. Take time to find an issue that matters to you and see what you can do to help out. for instance, i had a brother pass away from brain cancer and found ways to get involved in brain cancer charities. Makes me feel good helping and I have gained a perspective on problems I can't help, problems that matter to me, and bullshit white knights and social media activists push as life or death

That's sweet user, I help poor people bringing doctors to people that can't pay for healthcare and unhappily I use facebook so everyday while scrolling through memes I find some bullshit pitchfork article or some other media some friend liked and that makes me really sad. I am going to try and use that shit less

i never said they were, but it's a better alternative than a fucking tabloid-tier sensationalist publication

It's literally not about being liberal or sensitive or a witch hunt. It's all about CTR (click through ratings). The media has shifted online and they have to get clicks to stay in business. If you've ever clicked on one of those stories, you are partly responsible. The best thing to do is not visit the sites and not click. And find sites that post stories that you like (if you can) and click and read those. In these days, your attention is your business, your support.

accepting that as gospel? yeah, you do think they're magic.

>but having an idea of whats going on in the world is useful

the annoying thing is almost no one is reporting to give you an idea of what is going on in the world now. They are just trying to post something that the majority of people will click on. They just want clicks so they can stay in business and people don't lose their jobs. The sites that really give you an idea of what's going on in the world are like wikileaks and they're called whistleblowers lol.

to be clear i have no love for what you're talking about but sometimes for a myriad of reasons the police can do fuck all, and you know you were raped, and you have to go somewhere with it.

that's awesome. I mean i stopped using facebook when it became obvious how much data was being collected and the privacy ramifications but I think a big unexpected plus was avoiding all the bs posted.

But yeah just use volunteering as a perspective on the real impact you make. all these rape threads are based in the fact that rape is terrible and still occurs among those in power without consequences. However, they aren't looking for real action or solutions. they are gossip threads, allowing people to pat themselves on the back for sharing. If these fake fucking morality trolls actually cared about the bullshit they spew they would get involved in charities, outreach, and actual activism for rape survivors, victim outreach, and support networks. yet i never see that posted. i see facebook threads posting articles or twitter rumors and then using rape as a broadsword against anyone who doesn't join the jerkoff

yeah it definitely takes more work. I found ap and reuters and good for news without biased digestion. same with bbc. but you still have to work to see bias in whats being reported and whats not.
