Why do people claim that Force Awakens is better than the prequels?

Why do people claim that Force Awakens is better than the prequels?

For all their flaws, at least the prequals had original design and some worldbuilding going on.

In Force awakens, they just reuse the design and plot from original movies and nothing makes sense.
Why does the resistance still exists when they won? Shouldnt the new order be the resistance?
How can new order afford the star killer base, when not even the empire with all its resources could build such a megaproject
Why is Han Solo, a famous war hero, still a small time criminal?

They just rehashed the plot from Episode 4, even if it makes no logical sense in universe.

Your shitty opinion is more safe and rehashed than tfa

who cares, the only good star wars was a new hope

empire strikes back

>Shouldnt the new order be the resistance?

>Why do people claim that Force Awakens is better than the prequels?
Pleddit Letter Media

Bingo.
Mike leads his flock of sheep in the direction that Disney pays him to.

I am suprize that so many people follow the plinkett review religiously and dont question anything Mike says

It feels better to feel like part of a group than to form your own opinion.

TFA=RotS>AotC=TPM

Indeed. As soon as the word "Plinkett" is tossed, you can safely disregard the person that made said utterance.

Prequel hate is nothing but a meme. Only intelligent intellectuals are able to see behind the illusion and grasp the ingenious storytelling and world-building the prequels deliver.

Do not stoop down to the level of all drones that parrot the same hackneyed "criticism" they veil as nothing but the repetitive phrase a la "DUDE PLINKETT LMAO". It's a schtick, a tiring at that.

The prequels are endowed with grandeur that outshines anything modern cinema has produced in the past decade and due to their artistic merit, they will stand strong as timeless beacons of astute wit and film making.

Put TFA in last and you got it.

>asshurt Plinkett drone resorts to falseflagging this quick

Mike is a shit eating pleb who likes ID42 more than ID4.

I know you are beeing ironic
The prequals are deeply flawed, nobody denies it.
But they also have some good parts, like the music, the ship and planet desing, fight choreography and world building.

>deeply flawed
Not really. Not any more than the OT.

What the fuck is up with this?

the Millennium Falcon is being tracked, and Leia knows this. She knows the Empire let them escape so that she could lead them to the rebel base, but she goes right there anyway.

Also, why didn't they evacuate Yavin 4 when the Death Star was coming?

Indeed. The incessant meme that is being perpetuated in popular culture is just the result of coming to terms with how majestically grand the prequels actually are. Imagine something being so out of line in terms of how big and great it is that the pendulum that is the reaction people have toward it swings on the other end of the spectrum in order not to receive a system shock. It's relieving to give in to peer pressure so the one's feeble mind does not fail completely. The path of least resistance has always proved to be the best remedy for a mind and intellect that is not yet ready to grasp the full extent of glory. Just wait OP until evolution has weeded out this gene that accounts for this behavior and humanity will finally see behind the blinding curtain that is reddit what ingenuity they unfortunately missed out on in eons past.

I think the fact that the dialogue isn't completely and 100% fucking god awful and all the characters don't feel like a plank of wood gives this movie an advantage over the prequels.

>the dialogue isn't completely and 100% fucking god awful and all the characters don't feel like a plank of wood
This is completely untrue of the prequels though.

...

OT also has flaws, but it tells a coherent story, which is the most important part.
In the prequals, however, there is no clear story structure, no clear protagonist to root for, they fail at the very basic level of storytelling

>It's a Saganfan1983 posts on Sup Forums episode

instead, everything in Force Awakens is a joke, none of the characters thakes their situation seriously.
I think it really misses the tone of the original triology

>prequals
dum dum alert

The prequels are infused with a bold vision of artistic profundity that eclipses the likes of generic sci-fi movies of recent times. The streamlining process that has begun to creep into the production of every slightly sci-fi-y tinged movie has created an amorphous blob of mediocrity and blandness. The prequels deliver a basic premise of good vs. evil but do it so by utilizing characters that are endowed with humanity. Aside from the storytelling aspect the prequels stand strong on all fronts, from writing, cinematography and set pieces that truly immerse you into a fantastic world full of wonder and awe. It is infinitely unfortunate that this behemoth of a film project is marred by the majority of the populace's inability to assess the genius and lack of intelligence. One can only hope that in eons to come, evolution will have worked in ways as to ensure and maximize the distribution of the gene that thrives in the intellectual minority of our time so that future generations and civilizations will be able to grasp the grandeur of the prequels and see behind the masquerading illusion that is reddit.

This. I laugh everytime someone dissmisses the prequels. I laugh harder when someone says TFA is better than the prequels. TFA is garbage. It's barely Star Wars. It lacks vision, imagination and charm , competly alienating the true fans(and by true fans I don't mean the "lol im so nerdy guyz just like sheldon xD") . TFA is a sterile product with artificial fun pandering to artificial nostalgia. It was made with one purpose : to make money. George Lucas made the prequels for the fans and the true fans enjoyed them. It's just the majority following trends and faling for the " lol the prequels are bad " meme. Breath-taking effects for the time, fantastic fighting, a major expansion to the universe, excellent music, insight on our favourite characters with a couple of great performances and a solid story are all strong points of the prequels that are hard to deny.

Because while it's safe to the point of being dull and has its flaws, it's at least competently made

yeah, but it is made with zero heart, only trying to make money by making a soft reboot of a new hope.
And to me, it seems like the reboot is far worse than the originial

> Empire
> New Hope
> Return = Revenge
> TFA
> Clone
> Phantom Menace

We decided this in December 2015 retards

Did Luke disappear 15 years ago or did the Order arise within the past couple years? Because the two events are said to be linked and both sound ridiculous. How exactly does a terrorist organization make a planet into a gun without the Republic knowing?

While the OT and prequels make the world seem so expansive, this shit makes it seem small.

>George Lucas made the prequels for the fans and the true fans enjoyed them.

phantom menace worse than clone?

Prequels:
>Bad due to one man's autism
>Over analyzing it is fun because you get a glimpse into said man's fucked psyche

FA:
>Bad due to being a Frankenstein monster pieced together in a corporate boardroom
>Completely forgettable, not worth discussing

Idk which is worse, but at least with FA we could easily move on with our lives if there were good movies out for us manchildren to move on to. Normies are already forgetting about it, though.

>Why do people claim that Force Awakens is better than the prequels?
Because they are desperate to fit in / they are easily lead on by the media / they just want to be a part of something that feels "right" and "justified" because they hate themselves.

The new movie was terrible. The prequels had serious flaws, but nothing like the new movie. Kylo Ren is a worse antagonist than ALL of the antagonists in the prequels. I will absolutely never rewatch it, but I've already rewatched the prequels a couple times.

Is this thread two depressed Prequel fags having a discussion, or just one depressed Prequel nutcase having a samefag conversation with himself?

am i seriously like the only cunt who enjoyed every fucking star wars movie

Why is it that every single time somebody criticizes the prequels, the only criticism they can come up with is that it's "shitty"?

They are shit, they wouldn't have had success, if not for the title "Star Wars". View them without the childhood nostalgia user.

I think it balances out, the Prequels took chances and fucked a lot of them up, much of the dialogue between characters was stilted and wooden, and the story gyrated violently from dark and edgy to dumb and kiddy. On the other hand TFA is relatively consistent in tone, characters almost seem alive sometimes, none of them are terribly annoying or stupid, however the story is painfully plaid out for Star Wars, many of the designs (Starkiller base and new Xwings as an example) are completely ripped from rejected ANH concept art, and JJ's all flash and no substance style is glaring.

Now I'd say that TFA is the more egregious because it's classic soft reboot, super safe, corporate boardroom designed shit churned out by an uninspired hack who's screwed up at least one other famous Science Fantasy universe. The Prequels at least took some chances and tried to expand the universe and give us a look at how the events of the first three movies were set up. While they still turned out kinda shit, at least Lucas tried in spite of all the shit that was (often rightfully) dumped on him for his mistakes.

>This crayon drawing made by a 98 year old alzheimers surviver is better than a reproduction of a Picasso
you are factually wrong

There was a good star wars?

Because as a "turn off your brain" popcorn blockbuster it is absolutely better than the prequels.
The story is not good at all and yes, is rehashed but it still far beyond better that anything in the prequels.

>people actually believe TFA is better than the prequels

They're all idiots.

Two individuals escape danger and land on the planet they were orbiting, where they meet a local who assists them.
A youth from a desert planet meets an older mentor figure and learns about the Force.
This youth loses the mentor figure at the hands of the villain wielding a red lightsaber.
A space battle ensues where the youth makes the defining shot to destroy the space station and win the day.

Oh boy, The Force Awakens sure sounds like A New Hope.

Except no, Rey didn't shoot to destroy Starkiller Base, did she?

Oh, that's right. I was describing The Phantom Menace.

Resistance is propoganda term for republics secret paramilitaries

They are mujahideen tier and republic is US

Starkiller took 30 years, death star 4

Han left the republic to do what he was good at when his own son turned out to be a failure

Check rotten tomatoes. Plinkett opinions are mainstream

>death star 4
Oh come on, the Death Star took at LEAST 18 years, it was already under construction when Vader got his mecha suit and Luke was being dropped off in the desert.

At the very least check the wook, pleb

Starkiller isnt in normal galactic space

Very low quality bait when you call kylo worse than maul

If you say anything else, it was probably at one point brought up in a plinkett vid and someone will call you a plinkett tard

This, all star wars rhyme

>ive never seen rotj, the post

>Why is Han Solo, a famous war hero, still a small time criminal?
Shit I hadn't thought about that. It's very stupid yes. Maybe Han Solo wanted to stay alone and in the movie it's said that he gone far away when his son turned to the dark side.

Ignore op, it was explained in the movie

TFA > VI > III > I > II

Learn to live with that niggers.

1. ROTJ
2. ANH
3. TFA
4. ESB
5. TPM
6. ROTS
6.1. (TCW)
6.2. (RO, expected)
7. AOTC

>Why does the resistance still exists when they won? Shouldnt the new order be the resistance?
they're resisting any resurgence of Empirial fractions.

>How can new order afford the star killer base, when not even the empire with all its resources could build such a megaproject
I assume it has to do with Snoke backing them, hopefully this is expanded on in the sequels

>Why is Han Solo, a famous war hero, still a small time criminal?
he went back to his old ways after losing his son to Snoke, it was a coping mechanism.

Why is there a resistance when the Empire is destroyed?

How powerful is the New Order actually? They say it's the remnants of the Empire yet the Empire didn't have the means to build a Death Star the size of a planet.

What's the deal with the Republic? Who are they and why isn't Leia with them?

Why did Hux hold a speech for his men before firing the death star? It's not like they're marching to war. For the guys, it's just another day at the office.

Why did this movie make such a big deal out of the Republic being destroyed when we don't even know what the Republic actually was?

How could a stormtrooper janitor use a lightsaber efficiently to the point of holding quite well against a Sith disciple?

Why was Finn who just experienced PTSD during combat act so joyful when he was killing his former friends and colleagues escaping?

How could an untrained girl defeat a Sith disciple when she didn't know about the Force until 30 minutes ago and this was her first time using a lightsaber?

What was the point of the aliens released in the cargo? It had no impact on the movie at all save that scene.

Why were Finn and Poe such good friends when they met? They had spent a total of five minutes together, with four of them consisting of Poe doubting Finn's abilites.

What was the point of Luke making it so hard to find him and why did R2D2 wake up at such a convenient time of the story?

Why is the Empire still building death stars with massive weak points?

Why is Hux leading the New Order when he looks like he's in High School? Surely there is someone with more experience than him around.

What is the point of Maz? They say she's some pirate but why would someone like that be of value to a jedi like Luke?

Is Luke really that indifferent to the galaxy that he's willing to let four planets blow up rather than intervene himself?

Why was the Millenium Falcon so conveniently placed there? Did someone forget to take the car keys?

Why is Snooke a Playstation character??

For point 3: the scenes explaining the republic and their connection to Leia and what forces Leia to form the resistance were all scenes cut from the theatrical release. Not sure if they will be added in a special release at some point.

For point 4: the speech was given before the new order was about to obliterate a star system. Remember these aren't clones, but people he's talking to. Even if not going to a direct battle, they still have to be motivated to side with a faction that's about to slaughter billions of people in the blink of an eye.

Resistance to the first order, republics hands are tied

Empire could build a death star in 4 years

Republic is like the old one, leia thinks they have no balls

Blowing up the galactic capital is not another day at the office, these guys have been preparing the weapon for who knows how long

Watch episodes 1-3

He wasnt always a janitor, 1st order stormies hpknow the basics of cqc (see: traitorposter)

One of the films few flaws

Shes the chosen one, had anakins superior lightsaber, kylo was wounded (by chewie and finn,) kylo was going easy on her

Hauling rathtars was hans current job, the whole scene is what gets han and chewie back flying in the falcon

Finn and poe wouldnt be alive and free if not for each other

Luke went full neet when his nephew killed all his students, r2 i cant remember

If they could build them without weak points they would

Hux isnt the supreme leader

Shes isnt valuable to luke

Luke didnt know four planets were going to be blown up

Im done, i cant go on

Phantom menace was better than ROTS

I'm surprised you gave as much effort as you did explaining shit to an obvious idiot/blind person.

Are normalfags finally realizing this movie is shit? I saw on South Park that the movie is apparently considered shit now. Been saying it for months.

>>>>>>>Moraband

you write like a cunt

Another lucas change

nobody ever denied that tfa relied heavily on nostalgia, they were calling it a soft reboot before it even came out.

it was still a well made, coherent movie. which the prequels really aren't.

Which part? The prequels were great because, despite being prequel films, they were stand-alone films first and foremost, and sequel bait second. There was very little things to question about it.

TFA is the reboot that the series needed.

>rip off everything from ANH
>hey guys look we made a coherent movie!
What a triumph of filmmaking

this is what we've come to, the prequels have shit writing, shit directing, wooden performances.

but they're good because they're stand-alone.

TFA has shit writing and shit directing aswell and it doesn't even have the benefit of being somewhat original.

As soon as the second one is released and people realize it's more of the same, then it'll be cool to hateTFA, and the "fanboys" can pretend like they always disliked it.

>muh worldbuilding

>originality=merit
STOPPPED READING

>something has a good quality
>mock it so as to discredit it
wew my lad

Because everything is better than the prequels.

If you had read the rest you would realize why it doesn't deserve merit. You like TFA, though, so I understand why you wouldn't want to read.

Bullshit. The prequels are nothing but fan service and rehashing old ideas.

>hey look, lightsabers! TONS of them!
>hey look, Yoda! Now Yoda is fighting with a lightsaber!
>hey look, Chewbacca!
>C3PO gets dismantled and carried around in pieces again!
>Anakin gets his hand cut off just like Luke
>the last 20 minutes of ROTS is literally nothing but nostalgia porn for ANH

TFA was the bare minimum of what needs to be done to make a good Star Wars film. The prequels are vastly below that.

nah

>more new planets in ROTS alone than in the entire OT
>below TFA

How stupid can one person be?

You post that like it's supposed to mean something.

Stop posting rottentomatoes like it means something. Fucking Ghostbusters 2016 was fresh. As was TFA.

so immersive
amazing worldbuilding

...

Oh my god, they go to lots of planets! That means it's good! Don't be a fucking moron.

At least it isn't a cartoon.

Fanboys love TFA because it's everything they wanted. They bitch all the time about the prequels not being starwarsy enough. Well here's your shot for shot fanbaby wankfest where's our 2 billion dollars?

I disproved your point about it being less original than TFA though.

>not!Tatooine
>not!thedeathstar
>not!theEmpire
>not!theRebellion

TFA is a mess.

Let's see, which is worse: Having all the exact same shit as the originals, or having all the exact same shit as the originals but giving it a new name.

>Having all the exact same shit as the originals
I disproved that here

>I disproved your point about it being less original than TFA though

No you didn't, you just said they go to lots of cool planets, because you're a child

>the prequels have more planets

this is how hard the trolls have to scrape the barrel now

Oh, you're a phoneposter. Makes sense.

>disproved

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

????
Why are you pretending that the prequels are bad?

Wrong again, newfriend. Go ahead and keep exhausting your stash of tired meme images though.

>you claim something
>I post something refuting your claim

Why are you pretending that they're good?

How do you not know that Star Wars fans are divided on the prequels? Have you been living under a rock for ten years?

This actually looks neat. It's also worse when you're looking for it.
This looks like shit, but at least it wasn't a shameless cashgrab.

The fact that they go to lots of planets does not make the movie original unless you have the mind of a fifth grader. Not to mention, ROTS has blatant fanservice for all of these things:
>Deathstar
>The Empire
>Darth Vader
>The Emperor
>etc.

But they go to a planet that is all lava instead of a planet that is all sand, so it's totally original guise XD

You decided that and everyone laughed you out of the room. This is the only true ranking unless you're the greatest of plebes

V > IV > VI > POWER GAP > VII > literal shit > III > I > II

no but the prequels had more planets!!!
