I'm just going to come out and say it. Candyman is the best slasher movie. THERE!

not a slasher movie, more of a ghost story

I wish more ghosts would rock fly coats like that guy.

Also, what's up with black people and ghosts? You can count the number of black ghosts in media on one hand.

was candy man a real ghost that fed off of urban rumors about him?
or was he a brought to life by urban legend and only though he was a ghost?

Didn't he want to fuck all of his descendants? How were they all white women?

>we will never get an Clive Barker's ABARAT movie series

Watched this a while ago, pretty good

the sequels are poop.

Love for this nigga and Virginia Madsen. I watched this when I was 11 and to this day I still haven't done the whole mirror/say his name 5x thing.

Also, the fact that they rused Philip Glass to score this thing was brilliant.

I started saying candyman at a job for lulz and some lady freaked out tellin' me to stop. the fear is rea. what if I had tried to summon beetlejuice?

Simply put: nig nogs dont afraid of anything

Asked her old she was when she watched it. There's something about this movie which seems to stay with people who watched it when they were young. I think the notion of being able to summon him so easily and with something as ubiquitous as a mirror is good nightmare fuel for kids. I know the whole "Bloody Mary" myth scared the shit out of me when I was a kid too.

Tony Todd is based.

the movie is good, the theme is GOAT

bump

Probably the last "scary" movie I saw. That ending is nightmare fuel.

Nigs don't fuck with ghost shit. They've learned they're the first to die in most horror films, so it's best to avoid hauntings, scary legends, etc.

>that fucking midlife crisis cumdumpster
and he didn't even wait 2 weeks to move her in!

excellent thread guys but can we cool it with the n bombs

>blacks arent the first to die in most horror movies

The soundtrack made candyman.

>movie establishes that he only kills people who says his name five times
>doesn't kill someone who says his name
>kills everyone around her instead
I vaguely recall them trying to explain it, but I can only remember it feeling like a total asspull.

>she was writing her college thesis on debunking local urban myths
>he exists because of people's belief in him

he needed to make an example of her, prove himself so that his existence wasn't threatened, hence the framing her/dog killing/baby napping entire rest of the movie

its almost as if urban legends arent the truth

That's fucking stupid though. What kind of urban legend ghost breaks its MO just to prove a point?

that trope went out with the 1980s and you aren't black enough to answer for black people in horror movies

SMELLIN

SMEEELLLLINNNN

>grew up in the same neighborhood as Cabrini Green
>was terrified of it BEFORE I saw this movie and made me think about a ghost haunting it

Not even once

she was also apparently the spitting image of the woman he died for, but take that with a grain of salt since he's an urban legend and probably wasn't real in the first place :/. I dunno man

CANDYMAN
CANDYMAN
CANDYMAN
CANDYMAN
CANDYMAN

good thing they tore it down years back or I'd still be afraid to walk within three blocks of it

probably because they were the same thing

Can confirm

Candyman actually scared me as a kid and I'd probably not say it into the mirror willingly right now unless I had to

Even though I'm logical the emotional memory remains

I know of others who feel this way, as in afraid of saying Candyman cause of seeing it as kids

it was always you
