You're now aware there used to be a time when MTV/VH1 aired music videos of glitch and post-rock songs during their broadcast.

they also paid for some of the only decent western cartoons to date

Not that surprising. Adult Swim put out a comp last year and it was loaded with glitch, noise, etc.

You're referring to Clone High, Daria, and what else?

you are now aware there used to be music channels that aired merzbow and other noise and drone music

Aeon Flux is the greatest western anime to date.

In the '90s MTV Europe was cool as fuck, especially in the late hours.
Both Chillout Zone and Alternative Nation used to air a lot of obscure/experimental stuff.
I discovered a lot of great bands thanks to them.

In the late '90s/early '00s there was this late-night music show on MTV Italy devoted to indie/alternative rock. I remember that they aired this music video by Arab on Radar a couple of times:

MTV Adria kept airing both Chillout Zone and Alternative Nation until literally a month ago.

god bless mtv europe. american mtv didn't touch a lot of what they played.

i always knew this because i'm not a youngfag
you guys were like 4 years old when Sup Forums first started lmao

You say that like you're proud of it

>*Chillout* Zone
>Come to Daddy starts playing

I'll check it out. Thanks.

I was 9, but I grew up in Japan so I never got to experience MTV in its prime.

What the fuck does Adult Swim have to do with this

bump for good thread

You're now aware that MTV had a halfway decent college radio show in the 80's youtube.com/watch?v=JsH0T2FOyVc

>but I grew up in Japan
tell us more

neat

WHAT THE FUCK.

In the end, I'd still take the internet over any of this shit

The internet went down the shitter after 2008 just like MTV.

this

there was a specific charm in discovering obscure as fuck music during late night hours through mediums like television or radio back then

the internet might have made music more accessible but at the cost of taking away much of what made music discovery interesting back in the pre-widespread internet days

not to mention many of this stuff is just as obscure as ever

RDJ apparently produced the credits music for it

what?
