Thoughts on early black metal Behemoth?
Their EP's and demos were pretty good but typical black metal, but Sventevith is one of my favorite black metal albums, and Grom is really good as well.
disregarding the nu-male and tourist jests, what do you guys think of blackgaze?
alcest and coldworld is ok, the rest is derivative garbage

It's a neat experiment in melody and atmosphere, but I have yet to hear a blackgaze album that really feel BLACKENED as fuck. It's good stuff for a sunny day or just when you're not in the mood for some kvlt shit, but don't want to listen to something completely non metallic. Post Metal is a good comparison point in mood I think.

Lantlos and Alcest are the only good blackgaze bands, but I love them both.
I like bands like Austere and Woods of Desolation who mix DSBM and Blackgaze with the usage of major keys. Good change of pace after listening only to War Metal for 3 days straight.
