It's anti-capitalist in that it's meant to be a parody of consumerism, but that alone doesn't make it Marxist. Marxism doesn't have a monopoly on anti-capitalism (although it should but that's another discussion).

Anyway, the genre today is way past that - it got too popular to really retain any of that 'meaning', although that doesn't mean there's nothing good anymore.
