I don't know if it's appropriate to post this on Sup Forums, but I'll do it anyways. I really like metal, but I'm only able to get into the "old school" mainstream genre (metallica, iron maiden, deep purple). I find some of the heavier, "darker" stuff really good, but the lyrics and style of vocals make my dick retract into my body, plus metal heads make me suicidal. Is there a modern active metal band that is not so childish and rebellious just for the sake of being rebellious ?(if it has a shitty fanbase then it's acceptable, but bonus points if it doesn't)

Being rebellious and edgy for the sake of being rebellious and edgy is a key part of pretty much all metal. If you want to avoid the anger, maybe check out some blackgaze like Astronoid and Deafhaven. Sup Forums is VERY split with blackgaze, but if you like the sound of metal music but don't like the attitude or lyrical content, maybe give it a try.

Not sure how many boards you've visit but most people on this board hate request threads. Person making request is always too picky and barely knows what they actually want.

You could always go for instrumental metal, or metal that uses samples instead of live vocals. Unfortunately, a lot of good bands have simply dropped off the face of the earth, so "modern, active and not childish" is a bit of a "pick two and only two" conundrum.
You may or may not like this, it shows up in "give me metal that isn't metal" threads on occasion.
no, thats no what I'm saying at all.
I don't think making everything rebellious and unconventional is aggressive, and that's the thing I don't like. I just think that singing about intestines and hell in a growling voice just to push boundaries and to ward "normies" is cool, as to me it's annoying and blocks out the incredible guitar and drums.
ya, thanks. I think thata a good way of describing what I'm looking for: instrumental metal
>>>>>>rick and morty
> tfw doing development work in an isolated part of West Africa
> my dad puts the first two seasons of Rick and Morty on a thumb drive for me to watch
> watch them all in a week, love the show
> ask my peers if they've seen it, some of them look uncomfortable
> apparently everybody hates the show because of its "toxic fans"
> society hates it because of its annoying, geeky fans
> I want to go back to isolated West Africa
then don't pay attention to the lyrics you autist
I don't give a shit what some mong rambles about, I see the vocals as another instrument to add on to the R I F F Z and the B E A T Z
prolly this and stoner metal in general, try kyuss, melvins and yob type shit. also you should get deeper into "old school" stuff like pentagram, testament and obituary
ew obituary, we don't want him to die of boredom
OP go to the metal general and ask there, I've gotten most of my music recs from there
but obviously if you don't like a thing in the first 3-4listens you might not like it
ne obliviscaris
try evanescence
Grimes
Boris

Literally just ignore them if you have a problem with them, usually you can't hear them anyway. Most of extreme metal lyrics are more related to the occult than gore quite frankly, so being grossed-out isn't really a legit exuse.
>vocals
I don't get this. Why would you want melodic vocals over extreme metal? Just imagine say a death metal band like Cryptopsy having clean singing. It would sound absolutely retarded. I also have never understood what people find so appaling about non-melodic vocals. I never had a problem with them, even whan I wasn't into the darker metals.
>metal heads make me suicidal
"muh elitism"
>Is there a modern active metal band that is not so childish and rebellious just for the sake of being rebellious
What do you define as "childish and rebellious"? You are very vague.
You'll probably like this
Do you like noise rock
step one, commit suicide
These are good suggestions. I know what you're getting at OP, and this album clicked for me despite it so maybe you would like it as well
did you BLEACH?
You might like Mastodon
Between the Buried and Me
Black Future by Vektor
Age of Winters by The Sword
Colours by Between the Buried and Me
Litourgiya by Batushka
Vulgar Display of Power by Pantera
Try these on for size, they're pretty varied. Ones in Russian, so you can't complain about lyrics, and some of them have harsh vocals, so it's not like anybody can understand them anyways.
I had a similar request to you once. I wanted metal but without the campiness.
What you want is some doom metal, which is a slow paced ominous genre of metal.
Stoner Doom:
Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics
Sleep - Sleeps Holy Mountain
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Bloodlust
Stoned Jesus - First Communion
Traditional Doom:
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty
Saint Vitus - Born Too Late
Pentagram - Relentless
Maybe a stretch but try them anyway:
Boris - Amplifier Worship
Melvins - Bullhead
Make sure you listen to some traditional doom. A lot of people here will just recommend stoner and sludge, but traditional is amazing, despite Sup Forums's sad ignorance of it
