‘Doctor Strange’ Debuts to Magical $86 Million Internationally

>The latest Marvel adventure doesn’t hit the U.S. until next week, but it’s already proving to be a hit with foreign crowds. “Doctor Strange" opening is nearly 50% ahead of “Ant-Man,” 37% ahead of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and 23% ahead of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” That’s a strong result given that Doctor Strange isn’t as widely known as other comic-book characters.

86 million international is shit, dude.

>86 million international opening
>50% ahead of “Ant-Man,” 37% ahead of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and 23% ahead of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
>shit

I hope you die

Is Doctor Strange really that good?
I saw it and it had a lot of cool ideas but it failed to leave an impact on me. I didn't really care for any of the characters, they were too busy quipping at each other rather than doing anything that would make me feel empathetic towards them
Since I didn't care for the characters I had no reason to care about what would happen next

They didn't want to risk Interstellar levels of wtfs from the crowd so they kept their ideas very basic and it worked.

>an action flick with a well known actor does well
WOAH IMAGINE IF AN UNKNOWN PLAYED DOCTOR STRANGE... IT WOULDNT HAVE DONE THIS WELL AYY

>Magic
>Allowed in China
I thought China banner supernatural content and yet they allowed Warcraft which has the Fel Magic and yet they ban Suicide Squad.

>mfw people still think the Marvel/DC conspiracy is just a meme

WE DID IT REDDIT

G-guys... what if it beats Sue Side Skwa in the long run?

>Trying to beat the Madman
YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THROUGH HIS MOM FIRST

>hasn't even opened in China yet

how are all these people seeing the movie? It isn't released until this coming friday

>That’s a strong result given that Doctor Strange isn’t as widely known as other comic-book characters.
Wut. Dr. Strange was one of Marvels biggest heroes back during the 70s. Are they retarded?

That was 40 years ago

>what is Europe

I am 22 and had no idea who Doctor Strange was until this movie was announced. Maybe I am too young.

Reminder: 2016 capeshit are for teens and younger people so of course they wont know the 70s (hardly anyone remembers that Carpenter's The Thing is based off a 50s movie).

For some reason Marvel movies are now released in almost the rest of the world one week earlier before the US

Back when there used to be a show,

Now it's a disco, but not for Lola

"Suicide Squad" had arcane magic, which is not allowed. Plus Katana's mask was deemed offensive.

china funded the warcraft movie user

>For some reason Marvel movies are now released in almost the rest of the world one week earlier before the US

There's a lot more of us and a couple of decades of us getting shit on with delays taught us to steal movies by default

5-10 years ago they finally caught on that giving it to us first means we'll just happily go and see it instead of watching shit rips

>watch it Dormammu

Well Katana takes off the mask in extended cut

yea it is

why? Because muh kaleidoscope mindfuck?

Holy shit, you made the same thread again? Really, you fucking pleb?

And the sad part is this thread is probably guaranteed to make over 100 replies again because of trolls, retards and autism.

>same exact thread with same exact picture

SStop shilling fakkit

Woah, she looks like every other asian!

Wow how much did Disney pay for that writing?

That line at the end there is an especially bad Disney paid off PR clunker.
>That’s a strong result given that Doctor Strange isn’t as widely known as other comic-book characters.

So stupidly obvious. Contrast this sentence which characterizes the films opening as being "strong" 'especially' when you take into account the characters popularity, and contrast that with the sentence above saying the movie is opening higher than Ant-Man, Winter Soldier, and Guardians (all super successful films)

Which is it?

Is it a strong opening despite the character's lack of popularity, or is it just a strong opening? Because those sentences together imply that Dr. Strange is more popular than Captain America which doesnt make a lick of goddamn sense

Disney needs to pay off better writers

i saw it on saturday. it was fun, i enjoyed it. but ultimately it is forgetable. there is, as in every marvel movie, no tension, no intensive scenes.

>paying to watch this garb'age in theaters

reddit.com/r/fullmoviesonanything/comments/5a9y3w/doctor_strange_2016_cam/

Based Reddit always delivers

I didn't see it the first time. Not all of us are on here 24/7 you saddo

There's a period in it where the action just doesn't stop. It has more action sequences in it than any marvel movie.

I just saw it again. It's better on the repeat.

>2016
>watching cams

how embarrassing

Thanks for the tip off Disney shill. Now I won't feel bad about pirating it.

Now it's the americucks that steal their own movies and watch shitty rips

Why is this a good thing?

>get stabbed in the heart
>get your waifu to zap you with the fibrelator and stitch the wound
>perfectly fine after that

Because is actually fun

Action is Fun

desu familia this movie deserves to be watched in 3D for the magic n shit parts

It's done well and in context. Unlike BvS where nothing was related.

>WATCH IT, DORMAMMU!

Did you like the prequels because of the lightsaber fights?

Or at the very least, not in fucking eyecancer vision

Who the fuck watches cams anymore? If you don't care enough to watch it properly just watch for a dvd or bd rip

I have the opinion that it's a great concept which was held back by being connected to the MCU. The typical MCU quips and jokes feel forced, flat and predicable. The movie should have been as serious as the trailers made it out to be. Instead it had way too much humor.

>P PLEASE DON'T PIRATE, THE QUALITY WILL BE BAD
>THE QUALITY WILL BE BAD AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I AM TRYING TO DISSUADE YOU FROM DOWNLOADING IT, BECAUSE OF THE BAD QUALITY
Fuck off shills. It was bad enough that you opened this thread with a fucking headline. I'm going to watch it now in shit quality and then pirate it again later in good quality if the movie itself isn't shit.

Yes

no, but I bet you did and are looking for like minded people. Nice try, reddit.

Reminder that, minus the Chinese numbers from SS, and with likely Doctor Strange's BO take curtailed to Ant-Man levels by Fantastic Beasts two weeks later, MCU and DCEU will probably finish the year on par with one another.

MCU = $1.681 billion
DCEU = 1.617 billion

They were pretty anime but they were better than the shitty dialogue

I think movie as a whole was safe but rushed.

There should've been more scenes of Strange before the accident and during his training phase. We don't get any sense of how long time has progressed during the entire movie.

Humor felt forced. I don't know why they keep insisting on inserting humor in scenes that do not need them.

They missed a chance to show how many times Strange died in the final showdown, or how much has progressed. It felt like the entire thing occurred over minutes

>SJWs whine about the Ancient One being a white woman; calling it white washing
>No mentions of Mordo being played by a black guy

I'm so done with these people. They're just retarded hypocrites.

What moments did the audience laugh at when you watched it?

>wifi password
>eminem
>beyonce
>time frozen shot of chinaman tossing noodles in a pan

the quality is bad

Did I doubt that?

it wont but it doesn't have to beat it to be considered a hit

doesnt have the 300 million marketing budget that skwad had

Looks pretty good to me. Almost as dark, muddled, and ugly as one of my DC films even.

Doctor who did the "trial and error time loop" better

>T-this one will flop!
>Cape fatigue guys!!

I like lightsabre fights. Not the prequels.

Doctor Who is even more for children than these movies are and if you watch it you should be ashamed of yourself.

Thor

youtube.com/watch?v=hJ5Iq7w5rCg

That was a great episode. "Sparrow," wasn't it?

>doesnt have the 300 million marketing budget that skwad had

No marketing budget?

Goodness me, doesn't Disney like you anymore?

Heaven Sent

5:30 onwards

>time frozen shot of chinaman tossing noodles in a pan

People laught with that? In my cinema people laught with the other you mentioned and with Strange stealing the books from Wong and the Mister Doctor joke

I'm not even joking, they fucking laughed at that

Yup! That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks for that. Spectacular episode.

There are many movies that did time loops better

youtube.com/watch?v=cVC38HGW9t4

FB has to have buzz first. Their ain't dick for buzz for not-Harry-Potter from WB.

More of a magic movie though, trying to fill the Harry Potter void. Even though the titular character literally wears a cape.

...

How many movies are there that do time loop shit?
EoT's certainly a good example of it being done well, I can't think of any others though

They don't make movies as shit as Skwad or BvS so all they need for marketing is to release it worldwide a week earlier than the US and we'll do all the marketing for free

>I can't think of Groundhog Day

It will end up doing Suicide Squad numbers and people wall call it a success. Fucking marvelfags and their double standards.

Whoop-dee-fucking-doo. Does anyone jizz on her face?

My Top MCU flicks are:

1: Thor
2: Captain America
3: Ant-man
4: The Avengers
5: The Incredible Hulk

Based upon my tastes, will I enjoy Doctor Strange?!?FACT!!!

>as in every marvel movie, no tension, no intensive scenes.

there were some dramatic scenes in there , some good acting by chiwitel and cumberbatch

Yeah.

This film's main draw is that it isn't supposed to by like other capeshit. That's hoe the trailers show it. That's how it sort of was. I'm hyped for more Strange, but only if they seriously stop with the fucking quips. Disney brought in the writer of Rick and Morty to look at the script and make it more "funny". It was a bad decision, but the film is still interesting enough in spite of it.

>Interstellar levels of wtfs
leave

The movie wants to be emotional and engaging, but it keeps shooting itself in the foot with a one-liner everytime a scene gets intense.

Well, then, you'd think Star Wars would sell itself, but I see their ads all the time!

Star Wars is way more western-centric and heavily weighted towards the US at that

They really do have to see SW harder than Marvel movies

They brought in Dan? Why?

Let's face it now. That movie wasn't very satisfying

If I recall correctly China doesn't allow anything that gives a negative view of dead ancestors. So they don't allow any depictions of evil ghosts or the like.

I agree with everyone who says a fair amount of the humor in the movie falls flat, but without it the movie would be really dry, in the not good way

I thought you said "level of wtfs" a good thing, my bad. Interstellar is dog shit

actually it was very good

It'll never happen. I don't really have a problem with that.

It's bad when the film makers overthink their story in its execution. People go to the movies to have fun.

It was bloated on its own sense of self-importance.

9/10.
>critics love it
>fans love it
>Sup Forums loves it
>I love it

this is a dope film.

How strange. When will the contrarian hate begin?
