nah on acid rap the carefree black guy attitude sounds genuine and a lot of the lyrics are about being in/just getting out of/reflecting on highschool so that fits the tone, but on coloring book he's trying to sing about spirituality and shit and it's just corny because you can rap like you're a don't give a fuck teenager when you're rapping about being a teenager but then you try to talk about serious topics that matter to you and you use the same tone? It's really offputting on a lot of coloring book. which honestly i think is still a good album. the other thing is the beats. coloring book has quote unquote better hip-hop beats in a conventional sense but acid rap has way more interesting production that's more like edm or something off Warp and it's psychedelic and chill and flows really well as an album. finally acid rap has great narrative songs like some bob dylan shit whereas coloring book has barely any and it's all about chance's ego and personal life

this album isn't the worst ever, it gets a bit tired, but there are times when it's enjoyable, unlike other releases
