I have no clue why these are being compared, but I guess I'll go with Kyuss because I think it's great front to back and there are definitely some low points for me on Lateralus.
I've never listened to either all the way through, but I'm gonna go for with Double Fantasy with the caveat that I'm only basing that on the John songs.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Kyuss is literally just fuzzy pentatonic doomy rock. Nothing special or inventive about it at all. In fact, it made me mad when Tool covered Demon Cleaner. Lateralus is one of the most inventive, intense, beautiful, boundary-destroying rock albums of all time, and you're going to give the win to fucking Kyuss? Go jerk off to Dopethrone for the thousandth time and get the fuck out of my thread.
