ONLY DEATH IS REAL

Don't be falsetto, be truetto

NSBM is elite

...

THERE WILL BE ZERO

YOU JUST GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT

...

true

...

So I tried Voivod's Killing Technology, since I love Vektor's work. I'm not feeling it. Voivod so far seems, I don't know, just kind of unimpressive. Am I listening to the wrong Voivod albums, or am I screwed for listening to lots of black metal and thrash metal before discovering Vektor? I feel like it's too late for me to get into Voivod musically. Also, it doesn't help that I'm into more aggressive music lately.

try this.

Dimension Hatröss too.

I'll try Nothingface again. IF I'm still not feeling it, should I just start from their first album and continue?

...

Stop watching anime, you'll be cured of your autism

>I love Vektor's work
well that's your problem

Yes, but if you're listening to Voivod for aggression and intensity, you're not going to get much out of them and should look elsewhere.

I didn't choose anime, anime chose me.

Please leave.

I figured, but I really would love to get into them. They seem to well-received, and I feel like I'm really missing out. I have to also mention that before I got into black metal in my earlier years, I was into prog/classical/jazz fusion. I guess it has been a while.

If you're into prog, you'll definitely like their albums post Rrröööaaarrr.

CHANT
THE BLASPHEMY
MOCKERY OF THE MESSIAH
WE CURSE
THE HOLY GHOST
ENSLAVER OF THE WEAK
GOD OF LIES AND GREED
GOD OF HYPOCRISY
WE LAUGH AT YOUR BASTARD CHILD
NO GODS SHALL COME BEFORE ME

>prog/classical/jazz fusion

have you tried not being a tourist?

>you are not a nazi like me? you must be a socialist!!!!!!!!111
cute

Sorry user, I usually post on Metal Archives when it comes to metal, decided to give Sup Forums a try. So far it's nice.

I never said I was a nazi. I said NSBM was elite. Triggered, kiddo?

honestly, getting fucked in the ass must hurt as hell
enduring it therefore seems pretty manly to me

this is literally true though

Are you surprised by that? Nazi retards have been in echo chambers and circlejerks so long they think anyone with half a brain who knows facism is fucking stupid is some sort of commie.
Dude will just deflect and tip his fedora until he gets nailed in the face by someone at some rally and runs to the cops and mommy crying for tendies and his favorite Der Strumer CD.

Like the other user said, Voivod (post Rrroarr) isnt really aggressive. This will be about as aggressive as they get. Personally, I love how unpolished their first album is.
youtube.com/watch?v=dJQbVHUo1Zc

Holy shit, I'm already feeling it. Thanks user, good find. Gotta admit, this is some awesome crossover thrash. More hardcore than punk, not like it's a bad thing. Converge is in my top 20 bands.

>Converge is in my top 20 bands

Like it or not, Jane Doe changed metal forever and is probably worthy of any top 20 list.
That doesn't mean metalcore isn't the fucking most awful shit around though.

>Please leave.
When spotted, tourist assumes a defensive stance and swings his camera at natives for protection

>Jane Doe changed metal forever
Elaborate.

"I am proud about liking shit so this means I am patrician"

I think everybody here can agree that metalcore is pretty trash. I tried to like some bands, but I could fucking not. It honestly was unbearable at times to listen to.

Well, you are a strange creature. How can I not ignore somebody who cannot elaborate as to how Vektor is not in their taste? The length of their thrash songs? Too much prog? Black metal influence too overused? Too many riffs? Disorganized? user, you gotta be clear.

tried Heaven Shall Burn?

hipsters started liking vektor so they aren't good anymore

It popularized metalcore amongst younger kids in the metal underground, and also got a shitton of normies into metal. Eventually a lot of these same people would use metalcore and Converge as a stepping stone into the world of extreme metal, creating even more music in an underground scene that was struggling to survive in less-populated places. Early 00's Hardcore scene everywhere in NA saw a golden age afterward purely because of its popularity and iconic album cover.
Guarantee you cannot go to any metal show in your city without seeing at least 1 Jane Doe piece of merch. Again, I really don't like Converge or metalcore at all but I know and have seen scores of people who adore the album to death and cite is as where they started with metal. It just influenced a lot of people to listen to what they previously considered too abrasive or emotionless to enjoy.

I don't like converge or jane doe, or metalcore at all. But I'm also not a retard that will devalue the influence of something just because I don't like it. I don't like Metallica but I won't argue with someone when it comes to what albums like MoP and RtL and Jfa did.

My issue with metalcore is that it claims to be metal but has no balls whatsoever. Breakdowns are the laziest metal songwriting form around, metalcore vocalist sound terrible, especially when clean singing, metalcore drums are a snoozefest with nothing fun about them, I dunno. I feel the only reason people like metalcore is because they're edgy and identify with shitty high-school poetry tier lyrics. Eventually a lot of people do discover the good stuff though.

This is good shit. I think I'll listen to War and Pain.

Which albums though?

Iconolast 1

either sum it up in a sentence or go back

Shoot, I have not. I'll give it a try.

>I can't read or have an interesting discussion on a general dedicated to its discussion

Like Pottery. I guess I could of just called you a tourist.

>It popularized metalcore amongst younger kids in the metal underground
A lot of people used other metalcore bands, namely emo faggotry for the same purpose, so I don't see how you think it changed anything.

27 year old Swede heavily into metal since 97
I literally never heard of Converge till last year from this general

>an interesting discussion

Whoever said this movie is good and informative, please go fuck yourself. It's as as surface-level as it gets, barely better than BBC doc tier
>"First let's find out: where metal started?"
>Alternative metal bands weigh in
>Critic opinion: "I think if Wagner was alive today he'd be in Led Zeppelin"
>…
>"Now let's talk about BM, we flew all the way to Norway"
>"—Why you burn churches? lol"
>"—So are you, like, real satanists? Whoa"
>"Let's ask sociologists what they think of this"
>"Okayyy and now for DM"
>"—Why gore on covers? lol"
>"Let's ask sociologists what they think of this"

>Closest Helloween Pumpkins United tour stop is a 3 hour flight away

FUCK

>sociologists
You mean retarded bloggers
oh wait

>Whoever said this movie is good and informativso you mean noone?

Not that user (I'm the tourist), but how in the fuck did you get by for so long without having listened to Converge once? I don't mean to offend, but they blew up with the release of Jane Doe; it seemed inevitable at the time to not having heard of them through the years. I mean, they were in a variety of metal magazines, too. For the record, I'm 25 and I got into metal in 2008. It only took so long because I was raised Roman Catholic and metal was a no-no.

It's made by the guy who has that awful channel called Banger, what did you expect?

b-b-but dude, they changed all of metal forever, from metalcore to deathcore
what we have now is post-Doe music

>could of

It changed things because they were 1000x more popular at the time than the majority of metalcore bands. It showed people you could mix hardcore and elements of metal and be successful with it on a scale that hadn't really been seen before. People who had nothing to do with metal were checking it out and getting interested. You can't say the same thing about bands that were doing a similar sound around the same time, people found Jane Doe first and then moved onto the rest of it.

That's because you're in Sweden man, you guys have a lot of history involving more classic stuff for people to sink their teeth into. At the time in NA alt-rock/pop-emo was the big thing and Converge came around and kicked people in the balls so to speak. Converge is still a holy name to metalcore kids in NA, even like 15-18 years later.

clearly someone here recommended it to him

>tfw this is half-true
>the fact that it's half-true hurts
>tfw deathcore sounds uninspired and lazy like metalcore when Converge was not

I refuse to believe that

what's the warmest album you like? What's the coldest album you like?
dropoutrec.bandcamp.com/album/meth-drinker-open-tomb-split-lp

for me

>no band will ever make your soul leave your body like Khanate

I hardly like metal, and I think that's the reason why.

No I mean old women with diplomas who advocate banning of metal albums in different countries to protect minds of innocent children

But I literally saw someone in this here general saying that the movie was informative and all that. He said "I learned a lot from it". I learned literally nothing from it that I didn't know before

That might seem like a meme answer but it's very likely to be accurate accurate: listen to more metal.
Vektor is much more accessible than Voivod overall, you'll grow into them eventually.

...

He's too busy listening to fusion jazz prog classical and jerking it to the latest episode of K-on or whatever other moeshit is popular on Sup Forums to listen to actual metal

Khanate is good but you sound like a gigantic cock eater

Same as that Swed, I haven't heard of the band until this general started calling it nu-male garbage, then I listened to 'em and wasn't much impressed. I'd still disagree on their overall impact, since there's not much difference between them and Suicide Silence a couple of years back.

post bandcamp core
narcolepticaprod.bandcamp.com/album/cz-owiekskrywaz-o

they could've been fucking with him

So far, I got into War and Pain, just finished it. Maybe one day I'll appreciate Nothingface, Killing Technology, and the rest more.

As far as listening to more metal, I'll never stop looking for more. I'm trying to find which ones to delve more into next. I tried death metal more lately, but I couldn't get into Dying Fetus (I know, whatever), yet I like Morbid Angel, (old) Cryptopsy, majority of Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Death, some of the usual stuff that I could go on and on about. I need to expand more.

The difference is Jane Doe dropped in 2001 and a lot of the copycats like SS werent dropping content until 05-07, because Jane Doe is what pushed other bands to that sound. Hence the influence.

In 2001? Huh, that changes things up a bit, but I never really heard of them until a year or two ago. Still, at the time, I think nu-metal bands had a bigger impact on people, though I could be wrong.

Converge weren't the first to blend hardcore with metal, and popularizing it though
There is an entire 90's metalcore scene

Sounds like you're more of an OSDM person than BDM or BSDM. Which does make you a pussy but is totally fine.
Try bands like Mortician, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Autopsy, Pestilence and Pungent Stench.

>Vektor is not actual metal
>Vektor is on Encyclopedia Metallum

Keep trolling.

OSDM is one of the two peaks of metal, along with first wave black.

nigger War Metal is the single best thing to happen to the genre

I didn't even think about Nu-metal but I think most people who unironically enjoy nu metal also probably enjoy metalcore. So probably both.

Well no shit, the difference is that scene was pretty underground until Jane Doe hit its success and people really were actually hearing it on a widespread basis. Like the 90s in NA was dominated by Grunge and Alt Rock and Hip Hop. I would even say 90s Midwest emo/mathrock scenes were more well known than 90s metalcore at the time.

Hey, OSDM is my jam, I can't help who I am. And I was extremely into First Wave BM and 90's BM, ended up listening Natchmystium and Deathspell Omega, other trash BM bands and ran out of juice after binging when it came to BM after 2 years. Interestingly, my favorite band at the time was Opeth. Moved on to thrash after a while.
>Mortician
>Pungent Stench
I'll try that
>Obituary
Already went through all of it. I liked Cause of Death and Slowly We Rot best.
>Bolt Thrower
>Autopsy
>Pestilence
I'll try those again.

osdm and blackened thrash*

I didn't say shit about Vektor, autist. Go back to your moeshit hugbox.

>War Metal
Maybe if you like listening to the inside of broken washing machines sure.

OSDM wise, Finland rules. Check these out:

not necessarily metal, but this album makes me feel like I'm melting

youtu.be/wEiRKpflgQA

>Maybe if you like listening to the inside of broken washing machines sure.
t. scourge tourist overlord

The coldest is probably anything by Darkspace, really. Nothing beats the coldness of the vast emptiness of space. As for the warmest, can't tell.

>Not already liking Bolt Thrower, the literal king of DAM

F A L S E

Finland is the best country for metal.

>War Metal the best when BDM BSDM Goregrind and Deathgrind exist

Nah

Blackened thrash changed my life, I really appreciate it and want to take a dive. Skeletonwitch caught me by surprise.

That wasn't me. Also, just for the record, Sup Forums is garbage. Why? Because majority of what they like is MOESHIT. I'm on break from anime as a result. That's how little faith I have in anime now, and I'm most likely missing out on good anime right now as a result. On the plus side, I am on a ridiculous metal binge, so after Metal Archives, I'm now touring Sup Forums.

>Not already liking Bolt Thrower
That's why I'm trying again, also I listened to them too many years ago, when I was into BM.

Should I buy this?

If you like it, buy it. Why are you so insecure as to ask us?

>Missing out on good anime
>Good anime

Funny joke

If you want people to laugh at you in public, sure.

if you wanna be a social outcast...

>rail thin twinkboi wearing oversized nu-metal merch
jesus christ

>I'm now touring Sup Forums.
