Is this show partly responsible for the stereotype that "metal is for retarded stinky virgins"?

metal for this feel?

Sorry I don't want to watch inbred apes

BORN DEAD INTO THIS WORLD
TO STARVE AND ROT IN AGONY

Can anyone rec me some Saor-core? preferably without the artist being a pretentious doorknob.

Already listened to Panopticon.

What the fuck am I watching here?

AN OPINIONNN
FROM BELOW

2nd best Metallica album*

>*finishes last protector album*
fugg. time to move on to poison and massacra i guess

A matter of taste I guess, I like all of them but Kill Em All had raw early thrash energy
RtL starts with FIGHFAYAWIFFAYA and it is amazing and all, but then it gets slow and epic and I lose interest

MISANTHROPE

HATER OF ALL MANKIND

woah you sound very new

What's your opinion on Slayer

sounds like u have hearing problems my man. would look into that

>/blackmetal/ thread is more popular than the /metal/ thread
truly, the most tourist genre

wait until /nbbmn/. /metal/ threads will persist for days.

that just means it's Death Metal time in here

MTV has always been antimetal and antiwhite. Headbangers Ball was a glamfag parade with the occasional Kreator video, and even that was eventually cancelled. Let's not forget that they banned a Ramones video (not metal but relevant) for being "too scary" at the same time they premiered Thriller.

This board is largely comprised of Redditors, what did you expect?

Just put a disclaimer before the video starts ;^)

best of big 4
You got me all wrong. I didn't mean to dismiss RtL. I simply prefer rhythm over epic and melodic heaviness of RtL.
I might have picked a wrong term, it's not slow per se but less focused on raw rhythm. Hence why I prefer Megadeth to Metallica. It might not head at breakneck speed, but the rhythm makes it for me.

there's no doubt kea is raw rhythm and riffs. as well as most of megadeth's stuff. but dave never went beyond that, he never evolved musically (i blame it on the H). it only took metallica one album to show that they could turn introspective and still have their material be beyond anything else of the time. to me, a musical "masterpiece" is musicians exploring a new part of themselves and coming as close to perfection as possible.

stereotypes always have some basis in reality
btw Bill and Ted was earlier

just read some it, the thread's full of nu-males and tourists. even more so than the average nbbmn thread

post buttmetal like Manilla Road

is Moonsorrow the only "muh feels" band that's not nu-male?

moonsorrow is nu-male though

say that to their face, twink

nothing particularly intimidating about any of them

each one of them could kick your ass

i don't care, their music is corny nu-male shit

As I said to each his own, metal has many subgenres for a reason
I think it's obvious Metallica changed a lot from KEA to RtL. Without Mustaine as player and songwriter they were pretty much a different band. But did they change a whole lot after that? Not really IMO.
MoP is an amazing follow-up, but it uses almost the same blueprint as RtL. And AJFA? It went more bold with weird time signatures and other experiments, but really my favorite tracks from it are just standard Metallica stuff. Then comes S/T—pretty much a statement that the band has abandoned a lot of elements from thrash and went to more mainstream hard rock. In a way, it's almost a step back.
So I don't really see how Metallica 'evolved' either. But to me it doesn't really matter. In fact, I like MoP a whole lot, and I don't care it's RtL part 2.

even that babushka on the left?

is it just me or is 1:58 literally Into the Infinity of Thoughts?

No it's really similar

but user, that's not Ride the Lightning

honestly AJFA would be my #1 if they didn't cuck Newsted by mastering his bass completely out of the album.

hey this is actually just good trad doom, not nu-male at all

What a sad general, where everyone is worried about looking like a nu-male to people on the internet they'll never meet.

Been listening to this since another user recommended it in a previous thread.

Incredible atmosphere, feels almost other worldly, like the first time i listened to death metal.

well-thought-out response user. agree to disagree. have some gay porn (idk what else to post, im drunk).

how about just not posting an image? but no, you faggots have to flaunt your derangement at every opportunity

no, metal fans handled that themselves

I didn't ask for these feels

truly an underrated masterpiece

i almost creamed my pants when i saw they released a debut. sadly, much like ranger, it doesn't match up to their EPs. not to say it's not fucking good. just not "album of the century" as olof from enforcer says.

you're a gigantic fucking faggot

what does that have to do with a made up genre?

Post some sick werewolf metal

Of course it is, AJFA is a hard listen by itself
Try to headbang to the title track for example, the time signature is really weird. Even if you know the song, it's still tricky to get accustomed to it, to really feel the rhythm.
The same can be said about other songs—unlike RtL, there are very few singalong tracks here, MUCH less melody and more complex groove. And don't forget occasional sudden changes in beat and so on.
It's more like a prog metal listen than straightforward thrash

Give me an interesting album to listen to on my commute tomorrow.

Nothing too barebones or samey. Something different.

Will post follow-up tomorrow.

I've always meant to give this a shot, so now I will
I already listened to this, it was alright.

I love WiTTR so i might be biased but this album and two hunters are a must listen

I downloaded their latest and it's been on my backlog, it's probably better to have a frame of reference though.

This better not let me down.

will anime ever be metal again

That's just hard rock with metallic sound

Most people here would probably call me a nu-male and i listened mostly to slayer & hellhammer/celtic frost this week

have you even once listened to Vektor?

I disagree completely. Mustaine simply went into another direction than Metallica. Mustaine went to the borders of heaviness in thrash, he made riffs that Metallica could never even dream of achieving. Rust in Peace is a perfect example of a masterpiece of thrash metal, truly the most of what the genre could achieve.

Unfortunately Thrash itself is a very boring genre, it's easy to run out of riff ideas, in the end you end up just chug chug chug'in on the E string really fast. Mustaine tried to avoid that as much as he could.
