General tip: live well, take care of your body as well as your mental health.

Meditate at leat once a week

Read a book. Always. Finish one and start another. People who do not read at all are mostly quite short in giving attention to things. Also avoid drugs (nicotine and caffeine excluded)

benzos, man

Smoke weed every day

A little bit of alcohol is okay too. I've finished every book I read mind you.

Cannabis excluded too

Why are drugs so hard to avoid and is quitting now too late (23)?

Okay then.

I'm not against cannabis in general. But it makes your brain work slower than when you are sober. Thus makes you less productive. However, if you want to be more creative it's an option I think

It's never too late. It's hard to avoid them because they make you feel awesome in face of this world full of shit. Nevertheless, being high af does not change anything. A sober, clear thinking mind able to make plans and set goals does.

PDFs aren't books :p

I smoked meth for nearly two years straight (23-25), stopped all drugs over a year ago and feel better than ever.. you can definitely, it's just a matter of actually wanting to stop.

Because nothing in life matters, it's just your brain's perception of chemicals. The only reason you would want to do anything is for that sweet dopamine reward system... so why not just feel that dopamine or noradrenergic or whatever high whenever you want? We have cracked the code to amazing possibilities and experiences, so why not just give your brain what it wants?

ian?

it's dan

It kills you

I heard brains crave bullets in them. They're squished in their enough as it is, and freeing up a bit of space reduces pressure and increases blood flow. Go try it out.

fappers beware

Never this.

Adequate hydration, b-vitamins,omega fatty acids.

How to improve mood & brain

1. Exercise
2. Meditate
3. Eat a clean & balanced diet. Take probiotics.
4. Socialize
5. Minimize negative influences (drugs & alcohol, porn, late nights, shitty food, etc)
6. Then, if necessary, supplement to rebuild neuro transmitters: Alpha GPC for acetylcholine, GABA for GABA, St. John's wort for Serotonin, L-Tyrosene for dopamine. Tread carefully & adjust your dosages to get it right.
7. Take adaptingens as needed: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, ginseng, etc., to help balance body & mind.
8. Clean your room!

Mindfulness. It comes from Buddhist thought, and will probably seem hippie as hell at first, but it's great for stress and anxiety. It's non-invasive, doesn't require medication, and doesn't take up too much time in your day.

morning routine is eggs/coffee, then cardio, then vape marijuana, then get to work when I get home. I had vita b12 deficiency for ages that completely damaged my brain. probably sleep deprivation as well. you'd be surprised how poor my quality of life was.

forgot to mention I have cardiovascular issues. bruised tailbone. it sucks. the people I live with are toxic to me as well. stress hormones damaging me`

How do I put off the degenerating effects on learning ability after 25?

celebrate that everything is moving faster

What?

Because life has whatever meaning you care to give it. Do you really want to let your sense of wellbeing hinge on drugs? Because it doesn't have to.

Healthy fats, proper diet & exercise, & nootropics

when you grow older you lose grey matter but gain white matter

grey is used for learning and short term shit, but then when you hit a particular age it gets a coating around it, making what you already know move much faster.

cannabis
exercise
sex
love
diet
sleep
environment free of duress/violence against you

But I want to retain being able to learn new things easily. I need a way to do both.

There's nothing you can do about it, but you will always have some grey matter. Take up reading and continued learning.

Drink mercury.

sorry, this is not completely right the way your portraying it.

enlighten me

Indeed
Trying to read more and more books since it teaches you how to articulate adequately and how to dedicate yourself to important things like yourself or education.

Nicotine and caffeine are the most common time consuming drugs
Staying away from something that makes your mental mood dependent from it is the easiest way. If you feel stressed every 2 hours because you did not have a cigarette in that time you played yourself or if you always feel tired in the morning until you kick that caffeine addiction
Everybody has his poison, handling it is the key

(I like weed and partying)

It is not too late
It is hard to avoid because you create a surrounding that brings you near to the drugs that make your brain happy

If you like drugs, you gather around the people who like drugs
If you like reading good book plots, the people you are around with like books also

Growing discipline and increasing your physical health helps
Try not doing those drugs and being around the people that have to do with them and get it out ouf your routine.
e.g. If you used to smoke a joint in the evening after work, plan doing something else and do it then
Sticking to other people who don't do drugs is a good way of actually doing your new plans

Sounds hard if you are at the very beginning but every step brings you closer to your goal.

thanks for your viewpoint

mindfulness meditation literally changed my life. Sit for 10 minutes a day at first. close your eyes and focus on your breath. every time your mind wanders acknowledge it ad return to focusing on your breathing. it starts to train your brain to recognize the voice in your head and respond better, think clearer, let go of negative thoughts more easily.. and more

> wake up to a set time
> eat breakfast
Seriously.

This has more of an effect than people realize. It stabilizes your natural circadian rhythm, and breaks your fast (breakfast purpose.)
After that, your bodily functions of which your minds chemical balance is linked to improve.

Nursefag here, work with a lot of older folks (65+) and this is a big worry. First off, you are nowhere near old enough to start worrying about memory, so don't stress yourself out.

The big thing is you have to start looking at memory in a different way. Let's say you take a college course in something really brand new to you and the other students, say astrophysics. If you're 60, and the other students are all 19, they'll pick up the new information and build a faster framework than you. On the other hand, if you took say a nutrition course, you have a lifetime of knowledge and experience to use. The younger people might build that framework faster, but you already have that framework and just need to put the new knowledge, with recall all of your knowledge, into what fits.

Just keep trying new things and keepng you mind working, you'll be good. If you want something to look up, Google fluid vs. crystallized intelligence.

I agree on sex and love, tho love can also kill your mood if the love is unhealthy or gets broken

But nothing makes your mood better than having sex
Im not talking about everyday but even once in a year makes you feel satisfied

What if you know jack shit and or already have memory problems at 25?

Can't I just masturbate? Same chemicals being released right...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs

You need love.

that image of the brain has the folds completely fucked up. Couldn't you find a better picture?

that image means literally nothing without an explanation. And i believe that it's horse shit anyways but still. Could mean that the more purple it gets the better it is. So more porn for me i guess.

You probably know more than you think user. What kind of memory problems do you think you have?

I would say since I masturbate a lot too, it is not as rewarding as sex
Since masturbating is nothing you have to achieve or brings you a social status
the orgasm releases a dopamin rush but a (good) sex orgasm is better than a fapping orgasm
I think others will agree with me on this point

How do I kick my masturbating behaviour without having a relationship

I know if I had a constant source for sex, I wouldn't fap since I had this already in my last relationships

Responsibility for your life in general is a massive help to reduce depression. Make your bed, clean the dishes, practice good hygiene. Cook food and don't order out. Clean your house. When you act like an adult, things just go better in general. No point in being a man child smoking week and playing vidyas all day
