Coppola had a legendary streak before he got too creative for his own good

>Coppola had a legendary streak before he got too creative for his own good
>same with Bogdanovich
>DaPalma hasn't been relevant in decades
>Lucas became a laughing stock
>Spielberg and Allen sometimes still make good movies, but they're mixed in with Oscar bait and indulgent romantic fantasies, respectively
>Martin Scorsese is still making critically acclaimed, publicly adored masterpieces
What's his secret?

Working with good screenwriters. Having a serious appreciation and knowledge of film history.

Coppola is rich as Fuck like the others, but now he make where ever the fuck he wants. It's like Jean Luc Godard, they both are so old, they don't care if someone watches their shit, they direct Movies for themselves and not for a Audience, but releasing their Hobby Projects because "Why not, we are fucking rich and can do what we want".

>Bogdanovich
I think he almost bad as Lucas now.

decent screwball, one of the better comedies of last year.

Its his eyebrows. The talent is all in the brows.

>tfw Marty will die in your lifetime

Will you cry Sup Forums? I know i will ;_;

Fuck 21th century Scorsese.

>Lucas a laughing stock
How to spot a pleb 101

Are you serious?

I thought half of the cast was phoning it in and Imogen Poots accent was god awful to hear.

There was potential but it was wasted,

Scorsese's movies are fucking snoozefests.

Are you really saying he is not considered a laughing stock?

Only by people with poor taste and/or unable to think for themselves

>tfw Sup Forums will never embrace early lucas and not meme lucas

>not mention Tarkovsky

horosho kino kekski

>Bogdanovich

Literally who

Spielberg is still good

he just makes too many movies compared to marty

If by "decades" you mean one decade, then you're right about DePalma. Femme Fatale is a masterpiece.

fuck plebs remove plebs dont' respond to plebs

Every single day people are talking about his ideas. He is talked about more than modern fucking religion, and his fictional universe created a few religions.

I'd say that could never be a laughing stock. Even if you hate his movies, I'd argue he has had more influence than all of the others in that pic combined. People are ravenously consuming his idea from 40 years ago, today.

Fox threw him some scraps because they didn't think his movie was going to work at all and it blew up to point that a movie running for a 100 years is the only thing ahead of it. You can argue about who edited what but ultimately the entire thing is still his.

Today, on this random website, across the internet. Language changed because of him. Random niggers in africa without power know what starwars is.

He took scraps the movie system didn't want and turned it into a billion dollar business.

21th?

Lucas, Spielberg and Zemeckis were all ruined by the easy availability of CGI special effects.

>Lucas, Spielberg and Zemeckis were all ruined by the low cost of CGI special effects.

There, fixed that for ya.

Haha, fair enough. Scorcese was almost ruined too, but he backed off the ledge after Hugo.

CGI costs more than practical effects. It's simply easier and requires less work. No need for fancy camera angles to hide imperfections when you can play everything out in wide shots and add all the excitement later.

Oh, is that a fact Harvey Weinstein?

It's CHEAPER. It's at a LOWER COST. Does that mean the movie's cost any less? NO. It means that more money goes to hookers and blow.

What crawled up your ass? "CGI is cheaper" is not correct at all and it's often brought up as why practical effects went away.

>Martin Scorsese is still making critically acclaimed, publicly adored masterpieces
What the fuck are you talking about? His last good movie was Casino

Scorcese a shit

De Palma >>>> everyone else

yep, agreed. leo dicaprio objectively ruined scorsese. I do consider gangs of ny the last real scorsese film. everything else has been for a paycheck
